*sigh* I really wanted to enjoy this place, but apparently I wasn't quite booth-worthy. When we first walked in, there were two open tables available. We were told one was being held for a party of four, so no problem - we grabbed seats at the bar and waited. A little later, a booth opened up. Exciting! I went over to grab it and was informed that the booth was reserved for parties of four only. Imagine my surprise when approximately 97 seconds later (not that anyone was counting) two people were seated there. At that point, we were assigned what I can only assume is the restaurant's premium seating package: a table directly in front of the front door. This exclusive experience included a refreshing blast of wind every time someone entered or exited, dogs wandering through the dining area, constant foot traffic inches away from the table, and the occasional chair being carried over our heads for added entertainment. Truly immersive. The food was fine, but it's difficult to fully enjoy a meal when you're left wondering what qualifications are required to sit in a booth. Maybe it's age. Maybe it's attire. Maybe there's a secret booth rewards program. I'll never know. To make things even more memorable, there was also a convenient 6% surprise added to the bill at the end. Thankfully, I had dinner at Bettini the night before, where we were treated like valued guests regardless of age, appearance, or booth eligibility status. It was a nice reminder that hospitality still exists on the island. Wishing the staff the best this summer. If you're hoping for a booth, I'd recommend arriving in a tuxedo, carrying a briefcase, and bringing at least two imaginary friends to ensure your party qualifies. Save yourself the headache. I saw the reviews for Sharky's and knew the reviews were average but I was happy to give it a try anyways. I love a margarita and some chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the reviews hold up true. I could cook up a tastier Mexican night at home rather than spending $130+ on an outing here. I tried a mango margarita and found it overly sweet (more than usual) so next, I switched it up and tried a spicy margarita and it was gross. I'm really not sure what they put in it, but it might've been the worst spicy margarita I have ever had. Onto the food, the chips and salsa were clearly poured out of a Tostitos jar from the grocery store which was disappointing. The guac was good though. Onto the meals, we tried the enchiladas which were pretty good with the pulled chicken, but the fajitas were pretty sad. There was really no taste and the chicken looked a bit rubbery to me. Other than that, the place itself was cute and we liked the atmosphere so it could be good for a stop in for a beer. Our server was very nice too. Sharkys is a great place to grab a quick bite while you're in town. The drinks are strong and delicious and these are some of the most loaded nachos I've ever had. My only recommendation would be to add more jalapeños since we only got 1 or 2. There's always a sports game playing on the screen and if you're lucky enough to grab a seat by the window or outside there is a ton of people watching! This place use to be decent but now everything tastes like it comes from Restaurant Depot. I recently ordered a chicken enchilada with red sauce and it tasted exactly like Chicken Parm. The menu said they were made from corn tortillas when they were obviously flour. Not a bad destination if you have kids but there are other options. read more

We ordered enchiladas and they were probably the worst enchiladas I have ever had. The margarita was great though! Our drinks were brought out after our meals and they forgot multiple items we had ordered , we had to remind them to bring the items they forgot. Not a bad spot to eat! They had a wide selection of different quesadillas which I loved. I ended up choosing the bacon chicken ranch one and it was fabulous! The meat was perfectly seasoned and there was a great balance between ingredients. They also had a great selection of drink options (included a margarita flight that allowed you to try multiple flavors!) My only complaint was we were not allowed to sit outside, because they were understaffed. About 20 minutes after being seated and given drinks, another party came in which they allowed outside so that was a bit disappointing. But all in all would definitely recommend! read more

Come here for some strong margaritas and cool Mexican vibe when in MV. The service is quick and it gets filled up fast. The margaritas are cool with the different sizes like the escorpion bowl which can be shared but daring enough to try by yourself. Food was ok. I'd say average Mexican food. Staff was rude and SLOW. We were a party of 7 so we had to use 2 tables. Waitress took both tables orders at the same time. One tables food came out first then nothing for the other table for over 15 minutes. My husband went in (we ate outside) to ask because there was no staff around. The bartender? Said he would look into it. Nothing. I went in and found our waitress and she didn't even let me finish my sentence, didn't make eye contact and said "I'll be right there" with a slight attitude. I also saw what I thought was our food on the counter behind her. More time went by and finally the host came out with the other tables food. Was the same food that was sitting there. When we got the bill we asked if anything could be done for the wait issue and the bartender guy came out with a huge attitude. We explained and he was not apologetic and didn't see the problem. He did reluctantly give us a slight discount. For a place that survives on tourists they should be a lot nicer. There are plenty of other great restaurants in the area. I'd skip this one. read more

Picked some friends up from the VH ferry, stopped in for lunch, around 1:15. Still a couple of booths available and a few chairs at the bar. By 1:30 there was only outdoor seating (it was raining, so preference was to eat inside). SERVICE: We were seated right away and given menus. It was 10-15 minutes later when our drink orders were taken. We put in the app and lunch order at the same time. It was then less than 5 minutes when the app came, then just a couple more when 2 of our entrees arrived, Vegadilla and burrito. Another 10 minutes later the enchiladas arrived. We had to flag down the bartender to get our checks after having been done for 15 minutes. It looked like there was only one server for both inside and out. She was friendly, but hard to be attentive with so many tables to service. She did have a nice disposition. FOOD: The cheese dip was the same orange color as Velveeta, but with less flavor. There was a generous portion though. The chips could have been fresher. The guac had a store made taste to it. The veggies in the Vegadilla were very good. The other entrees were lacking flavor. Boy should I have looked at Yelp before coming here. This place is terrible. Here's why - the "homemade" salsa is pace picante, the queso comes out of a can like you get at a baseball game, the chips clearly came from a bag. That was just the starters. The Skinny Margarita had so much triple sec in it a kid could drink it and not know there was tequila in there. For our dinners, I had a chimichanga. It was pedestrian at best. I asked for hot salsa and I got three packets of Cholula. Don't get me wrong, I love Cholula, but shouldn't a Mexican restaurant that advertises their "homemade" salsa possibly try their hand at making hotter salsa?!?!? The funny thing was that my girlfriend ordered the fish tacos. Now please remember, we are in Martha's Vineyard. This whole Cape Cod area has unreal seafood so why would they use Gordon's Fish sticks??? Yup. Perfectly formed Gordon's Fish Sticks. i heard a lot of hype, but unfortunately, was a little disappointed. full disclosure: we came during the "off season", but life out here appears to go on as usual, so we hoped it would be as great as everyone says. we stopped by for drinks and apps on a cold day to escape the rain and the place was pretty full for december, which was great. drinks are just standard pub drinks. nothing fancy or special. sticky glasses, the usual. i would definitely choose to go with beer next time instead of a scorpion bowl (what was i thinking) as it was just an underwhelming amount of alcohol with way too much juice. beer and a shot of whiskey would have been perfect. the food was where they really lost me - the menu boasts "house made pico de gallo" and "fresh guacamole", but based on taste and appearance alone, i would be willing to bet this was tostitos jar salsa, some sort of prepackaged guac (we think maybe sabra or holy guacamole) and the biggest offense of all? the ball park cheese they called "queso". listen, i am a reasonable woman. i give restaurants a lot of leeway before i criticize because i worked in food service for 15 years and i get it. i just don't think you should offer things you cannot execute the way you have advertised. my friends had nachos and enjoyed them - perhaps the grocery-store bought toppings were more enjoyable in that setting. i will give sharky's another try next time i am in the area - i am holding out hope that the hype is real! read more

The family went in to sharkys for a lunch on vacation and we could get something for everyone. Margaritas, wings, Mexican, pulled pork, and cod for some local town flavor. The cod tacos were amazing so crispy with a soft tortilla, cabbage, and a zesty sauce that tasted mayo based almost like a tartar sauce to go with the fried cod. It's just not good anymore. I used to come here when I was in my 20s and it was fun and the drinks were good. Now 15 years later the food is terrible and everything seems skimped on now. My daughters chicken quesadilla had two small pieces of chicken breast on it and I would have complained but the wait staff did not check on us once.
