If I could give this place 10 stars I would - my boyfriend and I enjoy coming here on a Friday after a long week of work. It is a perfect place to wind down, listen to some classic rock over a game of pool or darts with reasonably priced drinks. The service is always on point, never have to wait long to be asked for a refill. Not to mention, the food is on a whole other level make sure you get the wings or fried pickles!! read more

I don't really get the slew of negative reviews on here. I think Sharky's has the best bar food and Raleigh. Not my thing, but also more pool tables that any bar I frequent. Drinks and food specials make it among the cheapest as well. I'm not taking away a star because I don't see it as a complaint as much as a warning, but the place certainly draws a dive bar clientele, so don't roll in expecting to have martinis and tuna tartar in peace. read more

I've been to this restaurant quite a few times. Its close to where we live. The servers have always been great. We are happy to have a place to play pool during covid. But tonight, our food was pretty bad, the wings were burnt outside but undercooked and very pink on the inside. The pimento cheese dip was just a wad of shredded cheese and potato chips. What is with this place? 2 stars for customers being friendly and chatty. A lot of people walk there or come from nearby so it's a good place to bump into neighbors and meet people. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Let me first say that...I get it. I've worked in a neighborhood bar like this before and I know that regulars are going to get better service and that sometimes it gets super busy. I'm usually not a fussy bar guest. I've been here several times with my fiance since moving in nearby and we keep getting the same crappy service. It's like the bartenders seem annoyed that we are in there asking for things. One night we ordered food and then saw the kitchen guy bring our food out and set it on the edge of the bar. We then watched our food sit there for at least 5 minutes. When couldn't get anyone's attention, and when we finally said excuse me the bartender threw her hands up and exclaimed, "what do you want?" She finally brought our food over, brought us a bottle of ketchup, then came back and took it away to give to someone else when we were still using it. It's frustrating to watch the bartenders chat with regular customers while we sit there thirsty. I thought that they would start recognizing us after we visited a few times but we still only get good service when it's really slow. I get so annoyed with places like this where the staff act like they are doing you a favor by bringing your drinks. We are nice, and we are good tippers! Like I said, the customers are super friendly and we may go back once in a while if we want to walk, but I don't see this becoming the regular watering hole I hoped it would be. read more

Per Randy W's response to my review, I have been back to Sharky's twice since the revamp. I had a burger, and it was pretty good. Thick beef, cooked well, and the veggies were fresh. The selection of beer has drastically improved since my first review, plus they now serve liquor. The most important part for me is that I no longer feel like I'm going to get shanked in the bathroom. That is to say, the crowd attracted to the new-n-improved Sharky's seems much less threatening than before. This appears to be the spot for pool players given how many I saw during both visits, one of which was late in the afternoon on a weeknight. You guys did a good job renewing the place. read more

Awesome low key pool hall and sports bar. The beer is cheap, and the food is good. As a New Orleans Saints bar, they even have specials sometimes like crawfish boils or shrimp poboys. Unlike a lot of other pools halls, this one never feels sketchy either. It's a welcoming nice crowd, and even has a decent little patio out front. I'm not a regular, as I live over in Durham, but I haven't ever gotten the exclusionary vibe other people seem to have gotten either. read more

This place has been under new management for about 2 years now. Done a lot of work to the place, it's so much better now! Added liquor and have some good food, nice pool tables too. My favorite neighborhood bar! If you never tried the Shrimp and Grits here, you need to! It is usually a special on Wednesday and is fantastic. I recently tried them at Glenwood Grill and I have to say the grits at Sharky's are better!! read more

Love the wings. I get them to go all the time. Medium is my favorite. It's not standard "buffalo" flavor. It's similar but not the same. Not sure what they put in there but I love it! The advertisements on the radio make this place sound like a good time.. My boyfriend wanted to come here so we did. 2 lady bartenders were there, nothing exciting no greeting or anything. We sat at a table instead of the bar. Didn't get any service. After several minutes, and on his way back from the restroom, my boyfriend grabbed a menu. He went to the bar to order our wings. Another table sat down and I noticed it took them a while to get someone to acknowledge them. The man stood up to go order at the bar and a male bartender (probably a shift change) behind the bar told them he'd be right with them. He was attentive with them afterwards and the next table that came in. We got our wings. Decent. Not big wings like my boyfriend mentioned they had. And they were ok Cajun and buffalo. Personally the buffalo were better. We never got checked on, and we had to go to the bar to pay. They have pool and darts though.(which we didn't play) but that's cool. As a bar, love it. Great bar atmosphere with well maintained pool tables, impressive, clean interior, neons, sports packages on tv's (even put on my west coast teams, by request), vast selection of very cold beer. Good clientele, noisy, raucous & enjoying themselves. Unfortunately the food was just ok. They do a good sell on quantity + quality and grilled daily. Basic bar food, not bad, but not great. Sharky's by some may be considered a grungy hole in the wall. But I like it. Conveniently across the street from my current home, I can even walk. They have pool tables, dart boards, a jukebox, TVs and most importantly, a bar. They have great drink specials and usually have tables available. read more

Came here to play pool. As a pool hall it's great. Lots of high quality tables and cues. And the wait wasn't too long at all. The food was decent. Ate some wings and other assorted bar food. Bummer that they didn't have any dessert options as I was in the mood for one of those ridiculous sports bar brownie + ice cream + cookie desserts. But probably better for me in the end. Three stars - a solid neighborhood sports bar with outdoor seating, pool tables, darts, etc. I came in with a friend for beers. The vibe was very casual and laid-back. Our first time. Heard about the wings. Heard about the burgers. Had a great time on a Saturday afternoon. We tried two sauces on the wings - honey/hot and the House. Both were excellent. Shared the sliders. Fries were nice and crisp. What we didn't count on was all the friendly people. Our waitress was great. A regular came up and started conservation. Then two more came up and introduced themselves. We had a very great time for our first visit. We'll definitely come back if nothing more than the friendly atmosphere. read more

Sharky's is a local bar with a fun atmosphere, they take the shark theme very seriously! It's a good spot if you're trying to avoid the crowds downtown and still want to have a good time. They have pool tables inside, and they also have corn hole and seats outside. The food is pretty good too (mostly appetizer options). I've ordered the mac and cheese bites and the mozzarella sticks, and my friends love the wings. read more

This place is dope! Bartenders are the greatest, wings are super duper; grilled then flash fried, ermagerd... Great neighborhood bar, regulation 9 ft pool tables which is great, BUT.... if you don't play pool competetively... KEEP YOUR DRINKS OFF THE RAILS!!!! Owner puts great pride in the tables and they get re-felted pretty often, which is a pleasure to play on and not to mention expensive. So please don't be the drunk, inconsiderate person who says "Don't worry, I wont spill it" and then spills your drink on the brand new felt. Most unfriendly bar I have ever been to. We were completely ignored by the bartender who looked straight at us, said nothing and just continued to do what he was doing. He even walked past us to serve another customer at the bar. Guess if you're not a regular you don't rate any service here. Was about to leave when one of the servers came behind the bar and got us our drinks. Got lots of sideways glaces too from the regulars too, especially from the ones smoking outside. I thought this could be my new place since it is within walking distance of my apartment but I will never be back here again. read more

Can I give 0 stars? This was the worst dinner. We had a party of 5 and we ordered nachos and mac n cheese bites as appetizers. Instead of the mac and cheese bites they decided we'd prefer mozzarella sticks. And the nachos were pathetic. Plate of 10 chips with cheese dumped over and a dollop of sour cream. When our dinner FINALLY came (easily a 45 minute ticket), most was incorrect or cold. My sweet potato fries were actually regular fries. The guys had burgers and wow, bad. Each burger was incorrect as per the order. They took them back to remake them and instead swapped the parts and pieces of each burger to Frankenstein 2 new burgers. But cool, they gave us 20% off. We will not be back again. Sad, we were hoping for a hidden treasure. That is not what we found. On the bright side the hot dog was good, if lukewarm, and the beers were cold. read more

It's a pool and darts bar, quite dive-y. They have a nice outdoor area. The place smells like smoke, even if most of the smokers are outside. This bar would be great if it were your neighborhood bar. But if it's not, good luck getting served. I stood/sat at the bar for at least 5 minutes before anyone approached me. And the two or three bartenders weren't busy--they were just chatting with other customers (presumably the regulars who they knew). As a result of the less-than-friendly atmosphere (had drunk people who couldn't afford their beers asking me for money), I got my food to go. It was late so only the "fryer" was open, so I ordered a fried platter consisting of wings, macaroni bites and mini tacos (yes, the mini tacos were more like empanadas--all fried). The wings were pretty good--your standard wings. The tacos had good flavor, but were burnt. The macaroni bites I would not recommend. I was expecting sinful, melt-in-your mouth macaroni bites, but these were just globs of macaroni that looked like children's chicken nuggets (pretty sure they came out of the freezer--the "tacos" probably did too). I used to have a neighborhood bar like this, and I'm glad it's awesome for some people. In the future, I may have to return earlier to try their non-fryer food. read more

Let me preface this. I love dive bars and understand that whole scene, I would never give 1 star based on atmosphere or "diveyness" alone. That being said, I came here tonight to meet friends for trivia and I was excited for some beer and a snack. Instead, I got attitude, a super long wait, and a disgusting surprise. Our waiter, Sean, was weird and impatient. He did not know a single price from the entire beer list and did not want to wait for me to decide on food. He also made a creepy comment about what he would drink from my fridge... whatever. That's okay, I can think fast so I got a Sweet Josie Brown ale and fried pickles. The beer came out right away but after 25 minutes I still hadn't gotten my app. A bartender came around to check in us so I asked her to make sure they were put in and she said she would. I never heard back but at 8:45 (45 minutes after ordering them) Sean came back and I told him to cancel the order. He tried to act cute about forgetting to put it in but I told him forget it anyway. He still brought them and they were free, which was nice, until.... the surprise. I am a vegetarian and have not eaten meat in years but today I got a reminder of the awful taste of chicken when I bit into a fried pickle and it was actually a piece of fried chicken that snuck in!!! Vom. What could I do? They were already free. I had to just get over it. I had fun visiting with my friends and trivia was okay if you're into weird categories like birds and nuts. But I will never be coming back and I urge all vegetarians to either avoid this place or stick with booze only.
