Cindy opened the Guest House to us and it was amazing. We spent every evening on the porch looking at Mt Shasta, smelling the pines and one evening watching a bear lumber down the driveway. Breakfast was served at the McCloud Hotel. We placed our order the night before and the meals were made to order, on time, a perfect portion and very delicious. Sight seeing, around the area, was really fun. We fished, played golf at the McCloud golf course, swam in the river, took drives and saw where family had lived. Cindy has pleasant staff and we enjoyed chatting with Nicole. This is an out of the way and beautiful part of California. I strongly suggest the Guest House or the McCloud Hotel.

It feels safer and community-like in person. The check in was smooth. The associate was polite and very helpful. The room had way too much perfume air freshener. Fortunately, the windows opened fully and the room aired out quickly. We stayed in the Nuthatch room. There was a relaxing patio out front. The room was super spacious. It had hardwood floors, a king bed, loveseat, a bistro table with 2 chairs, an armoire, chest of drawers, and the standard room amenities. The bathroom was away from the living area which was nice. The shower was huge! Everything was clean which was impressive for such a large room. We ordered two Indian dinners from the limited menu. The price was very reasonable, it was delivered to our room, the portions were large, and it was delicious. There was an air conditioner outside that was audibly off and on all night, but once we were asleep it was a non-issue. Breakfast in the morning was terrific. We asked for a specific 30-minute time-frame for delivery. The time could not be guaranteed, but breakfast was delivered as requested. The only negative was the many texts and emails prior to arrival. We plan on returning just to try a different room. We would definitely recommend The Inn at Shasta Lake!

They allow pets in certain rooms which is nice if you're traveling with dogs! I enjoyed how communicative the staff were. If you needed something, you can text a number and they were on it! They advertise that you may not have service here, but we had service and they also had wifi. They had great views outside on the deck. The grounds were nicely maintained. It was very easy to get here and right off highway 5. On the other hand, being a bed and breakfast I was expecting breakfast to be a bit better tasting. Breakfast is included in your stay. They provide fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee, and toast. You get to also choose one main entree served with a side of potatoes. The main entree rotates so it's different daily. Overall breakfast could definitely be improved taste wise, but it's very convenient and nice of them to do this. Another downfall was the temperature in the main lobby/ dining area. They ran it hot in there and if you needed to get ice (they don't have ice machines, so they provide buckets of ice) it was all melted. This happened twice. Minor complaints!

The fact that it was called a "Bed & Rest" intrigued me, so I checked out their website and subsequently talked with them by phone. I was treated like an old friend and that just made me even more certain that THIS was the place to stay while in Redding! I found the Almond House to be like my home away from home...comfortable, clean, convenient, and the owners so friendly and gracious that I hated having to leave when the time came! The deck outside was a great place to eat lunch, and the starry view from the skylight made it oh so romantic. If you are into earth friendly camping, you will enjoy this place- it has an outdoor shower and composting toliet. We loved these amenities, but some may not. :) Another note is that it can really only accomodate two. Perfect for a couple's getaway. It was just private enough, since it is a bed and breakfast type setting, the owners live in a house far enough away for you to have privacy, and close enough to be able to ask questions. They recommended an awesome hike close by, provided everything we needed to be comfortable, and were easy to communicate with prior to our trip and during. It was amazing and I can't wait to go back! VERY affordable too. Our trip to Ashland wouldn't have been half as cool if we had stayed elsewhere.

The cabin and location is just the most relaxing place and the owners have proven that 'rustic' can co-exist with 'clean'. The cabin now has electricity, which is an improvement from our first visit when the lighting was all gas-lamp. Those lamps were quaint and cool, but the electric lights are nice. There's a new picture window and newer wood stove now too, so the cabin is brighter during the day and you have heat all night long. Take a look through the photo album and you'll see that Hilda (check the calendar in the main room) has been a part of the cabin for many years.

We make it a point to stay at Mt Shasta Ranch when we drive to the Bay Area from Seattle. Each and every time we have been warmly welcomed with fresh homemade cookies, coffee and tea, as well as wine in the afternoon. They are kind, hardworking people living their dream of offering a top notch bed and breakfast in their lovely home. I especially enjoy sundown on the front veranda with blankets, our beverage of choice, a wonderful view of Mount Shasta and the beautiful countryside. The mansion, built in 1923, is well kept and spotless. There is a large dining room with a billiard table and many windows where one can read and watch finches and other birds at the bird feeders. There's also a cozy living room with a fireplace and a lovely wood fire when it is chilly outside. Each time they have offered our choice of rooms when available and been treated like family. The bedrooms, each one tastefully decorated with antiques, feature comfortable beds and thoughtfully curated amenities. There are two separate lodges for families behind the house itself. I also appreciated seeing a pair of horses in the pasture next door. Kris and David are always happy to recommend local restaurants, hikes and other activities. But most of all the this B&B is a quiet and peaceful respite. I know they also host various groups for retreats. We have especially enjoyed meeting other guests at the Mt Shasta Ranch as well. Lastly, a highlight of our stay is Kris's gourmet breakfasts, delicious and varied, served by David who is charming and accommodating. This place is an absolute gem. We highly recommend it.

Our group stayed there at the end of August and it was at least 100 degrees each day. Yes, it cooled off at night but not upstairs in the master bedroom. The small fans and ceiling fan were inadequate to cool this room down, so that made sleeping pretty miserable. The owner has done nothing to upgrade the outside of this home, so it looks like the worst one on the block, but inside is another story. The 3 roll away cots are pretty miserable to sleep on unless you're a small child.

Not only does McCload offer a perfect mix of relaxing/adventuring atmostfere, with it's perfect view of Mt Shasta and so many hiking and biking trails only a few minutes away, but, also, the moment you walk into the house you start to love it. It is an old house, like many others in the town (or city) but so nicely remodeled that makes you feel warm and welcome every minute you are there. It has a very large quicken area with a heating stove that keeps the entire house warm, day and night, and a large and confortable living area. THe 3 bedrooms are ample and confortable too. The view of Mount Shasta from the house is already spectacular and biking around time ad nearby trail is also fun. I also like the fact that the ski park is ony a few minutes away, so it is very convenient.
