Amazing find for mediterranean food! We were staying at a nearby hotel for a weekend, needing a quick, delicious, and nutritious meal when we saw Shawarma guys on Yelp. Loved the Beef plates for a first time, and ended up going back again the next day. My boyfriend also tried out the Wagyu Shawarma Cheesesteak and Wagyu Beef Shawarma Fries and liked both! Get tahini and hot sauce; better yet, ask the staff for the lemon cilantro garlic sauce and the spicy lemon garlic, too, for a different flavor explosion every bite. Tbh I had low expectations for this restaurant bc we discovered it on Yelp spontaneously. The service was great, our food came out immediately, and the food itself blew me and my friends away. I went to try that crispy wrap that I kept seeing all over my feed. It looked insane, they made it seem like it was full of flavor and crisp. Flavor would be an overstep, I tried the wagyu and the first bite was just fat, and weird flavoring. Then I tried the chicken one, this one was a little better but still lacking FLAVOR. I have been here a couple of times already, and have enjoyed each visit. The guy at the front counter was also very friendly and knowledgable about the items on the menu. I usually get my meal to-go, but there are a few tables inside this establishment. I normally get the Wagyu Beef Shawarma which sits on top of basmati rice, and a side of tabouli salad, pita bread, and hummus. The beef had a good amount of flavor. They drizzled it with garlic paste which I got extra on the side. The basmati rice had a turmeric flavor and overall enjoyable. I also really liked the tabouli salad. I could really taste the acidity in it and it is not dry like other places. They also serve freshly churned gelato which tasted delightful. There were different flavors on each of my visit. I order food to go here almost weekly and try to bring friends too. We always have the most delicious meals. My go to is the Dolmas or shawarma chicken wrap or plate. I have never been disappointed. I eat out a lot and it is very hard to find a place that always serves consistency in quality and flavors. They deliver. Also the staff is so friendly and professional. I was SO glad to have this location open up as we previously went to the food truck location in South Park all the time! The location itself is unassuming but they always have parking when I go. The staff are friendly and I'm always greeted by everyone when I walk in. I've only done takeout so far but the inside has a good amount of space, it's always very clean, and they have fresh gelato being made right at the front at the register. Food is always a hit, there's a reason they were voted the best food truck! Highly highly recommend anything with their wagyu shawarma, but especially the egg rolls they're so good. I needed something filling and the Greek pita wrap was perfect. This was worth $14- it's the length of my forearm and STUFFED. Pickles and tomato slices are offered as options, but the best Sharwarma wraps I've had also include lettuce and red onions which are unfortunately not offered. The menu calls it a Pita, which in my experience is a round fluffy thing, but this is a thicker than normal Lavash wrap. It is nicely toasted for a satisfying crunch. The sides are sweet chile and thick garlic sauces, while the best places offer lemon-yogurt and hot chile sauces. The fries are excellent and served hot & crispy. Overall not a good value at $22.00 for the wrap with a small order of fries - including at $2.00 tip. read more

I've stopped in at Shawarma Guys a few times since they opened their brick-and-mortar shop in La Mesa in April of 2024. The service is always warm and welcoming. My standard lunch is a Wagyu beef shawarma cheese steak, topped with caramelized onions, bell peppers and jalapeños, all smothered with melted white American cheese and loaded into a toasted Amoroso roll. It's quite tasty, if a little greasy at times, and sometimes, too salty. I'll keep trying it to see if things change. This isn't your grandma's Arab food, although, to those of us that grew up with her cooking, many of the flavors are familiar, in surprising ways. A little curry spice here, a little garlic sauce there... it's the Old World, but newly-configured and made to order, fast casual. Good for the Shawarma Guys for making their cuisine accessible to San Diegans who never cross the hill into El Cajon, where grandma's original kitchen has been replicated 100 times. The best thing I can say is that this is food truck to brick and mortar done to perfection. It is the same amazing taste as you get at the truck on Grape but they've added a bunch of things ranging from an Iraqi salad (which is so fresh and good) to shawarma cheesesteaks on amoroso rolls from Philly (all credit to going the extra mile for that). At its core it remains delicious middle eastern food in plate or pita or wrap form with amazing rice, delicious meats, fresh veggies and more. The killer was always the distance from east county and now there's no issues with getting your fix. I was really excited that Shawarma Guys opened up a location in La Mesa near my work; I had been seeing a lot of hype around them on social media so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the California Shawarma Wrap and a side of French fries, and it was ready in a few minutes. The portion size is VERY generous, there is enough food in one wrap for 2 people. As far as the contents, it was a little underwhelming; the wrap was loaded with fries and vegetables but pretty low on the chicken. The salsa was a nice touch, but I think it'd go well with some tzatziki or garlic sauce inside. The fries on the other hand were some of the best I've had, made to order, super crisp, and tossed in a nice Cajun seasoning (I literally finished them on the drive home!) Pita bread I'm pretty sure is just bought from a factory which was a bummer because the rest of their food was truly top notch. There is nothing special about the atmosphere and it definitely caters to a grab and go kinda place which is reminiscent of the food truck days. Staff was friendly.
