I decided to visit this location for a late lunch during the week. I was so busy at work that I had to not had an opportunity to get lunch. I was able to sign off at 330p and head over to this location. The place was empty and there were clean tables and floors when I walked in. I was greeted by the lady behind the counter, and she had a smile on her face. I ordered the beef & chicken shawarma plate, Wagyu Beef eggrolls, and a bottled drink. My food was freshly prepared. I received my order in 7-10 minutes. It smelled wonderful. I paid for extra yogurt sauce and left to take my food to-go. When I arrived home, I enjoyed a delicious meal. Everything was prepared with great flavor, portions, and care. I had the garlic sauce and the yogurt sauce with my meal. This place is one of my favorites. I have been eating their food since the Southpark Truck days, phenomenally delicious. Thanks!
Loved grabbing food here! The owner is super friendly and we had a great conversation. The restaurant is clean and there's plenty of parking outside.
Tried the cream chop chicken pita it Was okay. The Greek salad was good. There is a spice that I don't care for in the meets. I still feel that the kebab shop is so much better. I like their flavors and the let you have complementary sauces rather than having to pay for them. Service was okay. Ambiance clean. Even though they didn't handle the food, one of the cashiers that placed the orders kept touching her hair which was gross.
The hubby and I got some munchies after our tequila fun last night.... We tried the suggested Guy Fieri cheesesteak & it was sooooo yummy. We added extra cheese for that EXTRA gooeyness. We see why it's a favorite. I have tried many locations for Shawarma Guys and their food can be a hit or miss. This time, it was a big hit! I loved my Wagyu Beef Shawarma Cheesesteak and would 100% get it again. I thought it was stuffed very nicely, but wished the peppers and onion pieces were larger instead of being small, diced pieces. I think it would've helped to balance the overall flavor as well. However, the meat was cooked to perfection and I was happy with it overall. I know it's a top 100 place, but I think they need to work on their overall consistency across their locations to truly make it worthy of the top 100 spot.
Second time at Shawarma Guys. My first visit was about 6 years ago at the South Park food truck, and honestly, I didn't like the food. I remember ordering their bowl, lemon chicken, wagyu egg rolls, and falafel. Everything was just okay.. nothing terrible, but the flavors didn't stand out. I gave it a 5/10 back then. Fast forward to now, I kept seeing people rave about the "Shawarma Bryan's Way," so I decided to give it another shot. I was meeting up with my cousin at the La Mesa location and even told her beforehand that I hadn't liked it before but it had been 6 years. I spent over $65 and ordered two Wagyu Shawarma Bryan's Way, a Philly cheesesteak, and (again) wagyu egg rolls. After the first bite of the crispy Wagyu Bryan's Way, I immediately remembered why I didn't like it the first time. The beef seasoning was way too overpowering. The crispy pita was actually really good, but the beef just didn't work for me. If the seasoning were toned down, I think it could be really good. My cousin and I was disappointed and we ended up going to eat at another place afterwards. Mind you, we love shawarma wrapped but just not here. Second time here, and unfortunately, it'll be my last. On a positive note, the service was great!
First time trying this restaurant. We ordered take-out on a Friday night. We ordered a waygu beef egg rolls, a chicken shawarma plate, as well as the waygu beef shawarma plate. The egg rolls were delicious. They were drizzled with a garlic/yogurt sauce and served with tangy and yummy dipping sauce. Both shawarma plates came with the following sides: parsley tabouli, hummus, and rice. The waygu meat was moist, tender and had a hint of smoke. The chicken was also tender and moist, delicious! Sadly when we got home, our meal was missing the Naan. Since it was too far to go back, we had to go without an important part of our meal (which was a bummer) and hence taking 1 star off the overall review.
I had never been to this location but was in the area with a friend and decided to check it out. It was super easy to order through the kiosk and make any modifications if needed. I got the chicken and wagu beef plate with rice, salad, and hummus. The chicken and beef were super flavorful and not dry at all. The garlic feta sauce was delicious too and paired well with the pita. The location was clean and the staff were friendly. It is reasonably priced as I paid $22 for the plate and it was plenty of food. Will definitely be coming back!
This place was 10/10 the bowl was $16 and filling, the meat was so tender! I got the egg rolls for free as I joined their app! I saved those for later as the bowl was already filling! Definitely shareable! Place was super clean and I didn't wait at all for my food. Which was great as I was on my lunch break. The staff was nice and professional.
First time trying Shawarma Guys and it was so delicious! I've been trying a lot of different chicken shawarma spots lately, and this is definitely my new favorite. The food was fresh, flavorful, and did not disappoint. We'll definitely be coming back! Also, great customer service from Azra! She was super friendly and made our first experience even better. Highly recommend this spot!
Tried the wagyu cheesecake. Delicious but a bit too fatty. Place is clean, good value, nice staff. Well done.

Tried the shawarma wrap (Brian's way) so that it's crispy. Soooo good! Super crispy and super flavorful. I asked for the pickles on the side which was the right way to go so you can add as you go. The only thing is that there's always this grainy texture I get every time I eat the beef. I don't know if it's the meat or the sauce. Still pretty good and I will definitely come back. We also go the Philly cheesesteak which was so good! The right amount of sauce and meat with cheese on top. There's a hint of spice because of the jalepenos in it. The only thing I would change would be that the bread is a little toasted. Came out soggy but still pretty good. Enjoyed every bite.
If you enjoy watching Diner's, Drive In's and Dives with Guy Fieri, he recommends this place! You must try it if you are a local, and if not, anyone out of the area or tourists too, it is worth the drive! It is a cute and cozy little place. I was greeted with friendly faces when I walked in the door. The front staff is so polite, professional, and friendly! I must say Amanda the Manager is not only pretty but super friendly and professional! She made sure I had everything I needed! The brothers said hello too so thank you all for making me feel so welcome! They go out of their way to please you. I was in awe with so many wonderful food selections on the menu! The front counter person recommended that I try the Wagyu Meat/Chicken plate with Tabouli and Hummus. It also came with pita bread and a sauce that was sweet and also had a nice kick to it! The meat was so tender and delicious! The chicken was so flavorful also! The hummus and tabouli so tasty too! I felt so good about eating here because not only is the food healthy but goes well with any fitness routine, it's loaded with flavor, and their restaurant is clean and tidy too! They have fresh gelato too so you can also enjoy that for dessert so don't go anywhere else! Come to "Shawarma Guys" today! read more

WOW I hadn't been so swept away by the hype behind wagyu beef, until I tried the Shawarma Guys California Shawarma with wagyu beef. After a pump at the gym, it really hit the spot. I could only finish half of it for lunch, but you bet I ate that up for left overs. It was warm and fresh and filling and light all at the same time. And the cola drink they have, yes! I've been actively stepping away and resisting the urge to go with coke brand, ya know voting with your dollar! And its hard sometimes to step away from the addiction, but this cola drink is a really great alternative. wish I could get it from the store for myself. Service was patient with us, which honestly is truly at the core of what matters to me in any life experience lol. Ambiance... well it was really cold inside. Clean, not busy. They got a lot of advertising and hype about themselves on the wall, and yes while i am all about feeling proud about your accomplishments, it feels redundant. It doesn't feel like a home, more like a franchise vibe if that makes sense. I love me some authentic or creative or exciting decor. I'd love to go to there truck, that gives me the feel of mediterranean street food. read more

Shawarma Guys in La Mesa is unreal. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The shawarma is juicy, well-seasoned, and wrapped just right. You can taste the quality in every bite. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and everything from the sauces to the sides clearly gets real attention. The staff is friendly, fast, and actually seems to care whether you enjoy your meal, which is rare these days. The place is clean, organized, and runs smoothly even when it's busy. I'm so excited that I no longer have to drive to Shawarma Guys in South Park for my weekly fix, since it's now in my hood of La Mesa! They sell the same food in addition to gelato (watermelon and cherry on my visit), cheesesteaks, fun flavored bottle drinks, and offer catering. Their wagyu egg rolls are a must have with an extra side of garlic sauce. My husband ordered the cream chop chicken with their delicious rice and hummus, I ordered the fattoush wrap, and we ordered pita chips to snack on during the week. The wrap is humongous and the length of my arm, so I saved the other half for later. My husband loves the cream chop chicken because it's breaded, fried, sliced thin, then has a creamy garlic sauce which he can never get enough of. The pita chips were a huge surprise because they're thin and light and not thick as you would expect. They have seating inside or you can take it to go. And as always, the service is delightful and they're always helpful and cheery no matter what location you go to. read more
I was searching for a bite to eat, scrolled on yelp to look for vegan/vegetarian friendly places, and chose Shawarma Guys. This ended up being a "10 out of 10 HECK YEAH" decision! There's always the anticipation of swinging the door open and walking into a new restaurant you haven't yet experienced. "What's the food going to be like? As good as the pictures on Yelp show? Will there be enough seating for me to eat in?" For starters, this restaurant is impeccably clean (including the ordering counter, dining space, and the bathroom), well lit, and so open! The staff taking my order were kind, welcoming, and open to answering all my questions. I ordered the Vegan Shawarma Pita with a side of fries and was told it'd take about 10 minutes. In the meanwhile, I found myself a nice spot in the dining room, - which had ample seating - put on my favorite audio book, and excitedly waited for my meal. My meal was delivered by one of the staff members who kindly guided me to the condiment station if I needed ketchup and bid me a good meal. Then? GRUB TIME. The fries were fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned and the vegan shawarma pita was delicious! I LOVED the thin bread, the ratio of faux meat to crunch veggies and sauce, and I can only imagine how yummy the chicken or beef shawarma is! Now I've gotta give a HUGE shout out to the hot sauce that I had on the side. The hot sauce is made in-house and is ABSOLUTELY delicious. If they bottled this up and sold it, I'd have bought 3 bottles for myself.. IT IS THAT GOOD! All of this to say, Shawarma Guys hit the SPOT. I love me a SOLID Middle Eastern place that has vegan/vegetarian options that meander beyond the world of falafel (no hate to falafel at all. I LOVE falafel - often my first choice) I highly recommend this place to all folks feeling Middle Eastern street food and are simply looking for good food! read more

The absolute best middle eastern restaurant in San Diego. I used to go there food truck in San Diego I'm so glad they opened up multiple locations! I love coming to the La Mesa one! As an east country resident it is nice to have them in our back yard! The staff is great and very friendly, the place is so clean we love to bring the kids. Amazing find for mediterranean food! We were staying at a nearby hotel for a weekend, needing a quick, delicious, and nutritious meal when we saw Shawarma guys on Yelp. Loved the Beef plates for a first time, and ended up going back again the next day. My boyfriend also tried out the Wagyu Shawarma Cheesesteak and Wagyu Beef Shawarma Fries and liked both! Get tahini and hot sauce; better yet, ask the staff for the lemon cilantro garlic sauce and the spicy lemon garlic, too, for a different flavor explosion every bite. Tbh I had low expectations for this restaurant bc we discovered it on Yelp spontaneously. The service was great, our food came out immediately, and the food itself blew me and my friends away. Every ingredient in the bowl was full of flavor, especially the rice, and it comes with a side of pita bread. I would definitely go back for a quick, affordable meal that also doesn't leave you feeling gross and heavy. Great job Shawarma Guys! Excited to try their other locations as well. read more

Ive been following Shawarma Guys food truck for the longest and was thrilled when I randomly drove by in my neighborhood and saw they had opened up a restaurant in La Mesa !! I quickly placed an order online and went to pick it up 10 minutes later-- Upon arrival, I was greeted right away by the friendly cashiers . I let them know I was there was pick-up and they brought out my to-go plate ! They asked if I like pita chips as they were offering sample bags-- um, YESSSS please lol . The restaurant is clean and inviting with plenty of parking . Here's my food review-- CHICKEN SHAWARMA AND WAGYU STEAK COMBO PLATE: The wagyu beef was so tender and flavorful-- it was giving me gyro vibes, but waygu steak ! WAGYU STEAK 10/10 . HIGHLY RECOMMEND . Chicken shawarma was tasty also, but a bit on the saltier side for me . It did pair really well with the delicious basmati rice and hummus . CHICKEN SHAWARMA 8/10 . Basmati rice was slightly turmerick-ey, warm, soft, and chewy . Hummus was sooo yummy . Taboulleh salad had lots of herbs and aromatics-- a lovely addition to each bite . The pita bread it came with was a bit chewier than what I'm used to, but still edible . I made little mini stuffed pita sandwiches and they were scrumptious . The PITA CHIPS sample bag they gave me was sooo fresh and crispy-- this went really well for dipping in the hummus . 9/10 Overall, I really enjoyed my food !! I would totally come back to try the rest of their menu out . They also had cheesesteaks and loaded fries options on the menu that are literally calling my name RIGHT NOW . read more
F*ckin slaps!! Not sure if I can curse in yelp, but had to get the point across. I came here after a work out and right before a long road trip. I needed something filling and the Greek pita wrap was perfect. This was worth $14- it's the length of my forearm and STUFFED. It was perfectly sauced too, not a single dry bite and the chicken was tender and juicy. Service was friendly and fast, and the inside of the store was clean as well. I have been here a couple of times already, and have enjoyed each visit. The guy at the front counter was also very friendly and knowledgable about the items on the menu. I usually get my meal to-go, but there are a few tables inside this establishment. I normally get the Wagyu Beef Shawarma which sits on top of basmati rice, and a side of tabouli salad, pita bread, and hummus. The beef had a good amount of flavor. They drizzled it with garlic paste which I got extra on the side. The basmati rice had a turmeric flavor and overall enjoyable. I also really liked the tabouli salad. I could really taste the acidity in it and it is not dry like other places. They also serve freshly churned gelato which tasted delightful. There were different flavors on each of my visit. For now, this will be my go-to spot for shawarma! read more

The best thing I can say is that this is food truck to brick and mortar done to perfection. It is the same amazing taste as you get at the truck on Grape but they've added a bunch of things ranging from an Iraqi salad (which is so fresh and good) to shawarma cheesesteaks on amoroso rolls from Philly (all credit to going the extra mile for that). At its core it remains delicious middle eastern food in plate or pita or wrap form with amazing rice, delicious meats, fresh veggies and more. The killer was always the distance from east county and now there's no issues with getting your fix. The staff remains great and the new location is fresh clean and pleasant, perfect to eat at with air conditioning. Definitely a must stop and eat. read more

I was really excited that Shawarma Guys opened up a location in La Mesa near my work; I had been seeing a lot of hype around them on social media so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the California Shawarma Wrap and a side of French fries, and it was ready in a few minutes. The portion size is VERY generous, there is enough food in one wrap for 2 people. As far as the contents, it was a little underwhelming; the wrap was loaded with fries and vegetables but pretty low on the chicken. The salsa was a nice touch, but I think it'd go well with some tzatziki or garlic sauce inside. The fries on the other hand were some of the best I've had, made to order, super crisp, and tossed in a nice Cajun seasoning (I literally finished them on the drive home!) I will be returning in the future to try other wraps and dishes! read more
How lucky are we La Mesans to have such a delicious middle eastern restaurant in our backyard. This place is run by a lovely man. it is squeaky clean and the servers are so nice and helpful. The food is so yummy. We ordered the chicken schwarma plate which came with delicious rice, tabouleh, hummus, pita and of course the tastiest chicken around. The chicken was covered in a delectable lemon garlic sauce that i could not get enough of. The plate was enough to feed the two of us -and was very reasonably priced. Schwarma guys are expanding and i wouldn't be surprised to see them all over the county. If i could buy stock in them i would. Go here! You won't regret it!! read more

I was SO glad to have this location open up as we previously went to the food truck location in South Park all the time! The location itself is unassuming but they always have parking when I go. The staff are friendly and I'm always greeted by everyone when I walk in. I've only done takeout so far but the inside has a good amount of space, it's always very clean, and they have fresh gelato being made right at the front at the register. Food is always a hit, there's a reason they were voted the best food truck! Highly highly recommend anything with their wagyu shawarma, but especially the egg rolls they're so good. My boyfriend is a big cheesesteak fan and he's tried both the wagyu and chicken cheesesteaks and he says they're both made really well. read more

- located in a small plaza so parking isn't bad - incredibly kind staff who greeted everyone, offered gelato samples, and asked if we needed anything once we were seated - the meats are nicely marinated and delicious with the garlic sauce - i also loved all the variety that comes with the plate - the falafels are crispy with a generous drizzle of garlic sauce on a bed of shredded lettuce - my only gripe is that i wish the portions were larger/more meat for what you pay for (18.99 for the plate) read more
I've been a huge fan of Shawarma Guys since their truck on Grape St. opened. My go to's have always been the chicken chop plate and the California Shawarma Wrap. After reading reviews about the Philly Cheesesteak I decided to see what all the hype was about. OMG...so frickin good. It was warm and gooey and the roll was soft and delicious and soaked up all the juices. The meat was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. And they did in fact give me a complimentary shawarma eggroll to try while I was waiting and it was so tasty--I'm hooked! The service was good however I got my order to go and I paid for a garlic paste and there was none in my order to my chagrin. They still get 5 whole stars because even though I was disappointed, I have no doubt they will remedy it on my next visit. And the truth is, it would have been overkill on the cheesesteak. As to the ambiance, it's located in a small strip mall between a giant weed dispensary and a liquor store on the other side. There's also a 7/11 on the corner. Inside the restaurant is clean and bright. Maybe a half dozen or so tables. I had a stroller and another party that was there did too. I highly recommend this place and will be back! read more
