Ordered a gyro, told it would take 25 min. 30 min later they started making my gyro. 3 people, doing next to nothing waited until i asked about my order to start on it then they all rushed to get a gyro done. Took them 5 more minutes. But hey, they gave me french fries to say "sorry". The gyro was not great by any means, but it wasn't terrible. No real reason to want to come back for this sandwich at all. I will stay away from this place going forward. And would not recommend it to anyone who knows what a good Gyro is. 1 star only because the food wasn't absolutely terrible like the service. read more

I saw their commercial on Instagram and really liked it. So today we finally decided to try this new place. The atmosphere was great: very friendly knowledgeable stuff, big open clean kitchen and plenty of space for customers. Lamb shawarma was excellent - very soft marinated lamb, delicious sauce . Other superstar is their Dubai cake. Tastes like nothing else, you will love it and come back just for another piece! Food menu looks good, we definitely will come back to try more things. Updated review: We have been here multiple times since my first review for our weekly date night, and I must say, the customer service and the quality of the food are consistent and have not disappointed us! The last date night we went to, we told the lovely Bella that my husband was going to bring my mother in law here for her birthday. Bella remembered and surprised us by decorating the table with balloons, flowers, matching plates and matching napkins! To top it off, she even bought my mother in law a delicious cake! Bella has wowed us every time we come here for date night! She remembers us every time we come in and she always gives 110% of excellent service; but tonight, was above and beyond anywhere we have ever gone to celebrate!! This place is incredible! Holy smokes Do not pass this restaurant up!!! We were welcomed as soon as we walked in and things just kept getting better from there. Cozy place with modern vibes, simple and clean. The staff were extremely helpful in walking us through the menu and gave us amazing recommendations. The menu is small but packed with a great variety of items from poutine, lamb chops, wraps, salads and more. No desert yet (but rumor has it Backlava will be in the menu soon) We finally decided to order the Cheese Samosas and the Shawarmaati platter and man....it did Not disappoint! The dish comes with a rice, hummus, 3 skewers of beef, lamb, and chicken, salad and flat bread. This dish was so flavorful! The rice had perfect flavor and texture and the salad was delightful and fresh. I have to say the Samosas were a must! They were light and crisp with a delicious cheesy filling, I love the use of herbs and vegetables in all of the dishes. I have been to this restaurant at least 4 times, every time I've been I'm greeted with a huge smile and a welcome. Their customer service is wonderful, but the food is exceptional. The hummus has me on a choke hold, it's that good. Last time I went in that had a new dessert, the Dubai chocolate cake. It was absolutely delicious also. Its great to have a middle eastern restaurant in the east valley. First impressions, the lady at the register is so friendly. She makes you feel like a dear friend she's missed. Congrats on the soft opening SHAWARMAATI team. (Also friendly staff as well, I can see they're working hard!) Right away, I'd like to say it's cool to see more Mediterranean restaurants opening up in Gilbert, and in Phoenix in general. I'll start with the pros: -Nice potential ambiance (I hope to see pictures, paintings, stocked shelves in the future. -Like I said earlier, great staff. They're friendly and very hospitable. -Vast selection of food -It's good you have decent bathrooms -Good you are not supporting Coke products -Fries are delicious However I do have some concerns: -The wait times have to be addressed (I would suggest hiring a wait staff) -I ordered a gyro plate, the meat wasn't consistently cooked and seasoned/flavored (some pieces cooked like crispy bacon, some too thin. Definitely need more of that traditional gyro flavor (it's almost there!) -You HAVE to include tzatziki with gyro platters. I had to go ask for some, which I don't mind, but if you reference the "veteran" shops in the valley. That is a must for them. (That, and/or a house Garlic sauce..."Toum" in Lebanese restaurants) -Our chicken shawarma order came with fries instead of the requested rice (no biggy, y'all seemed to be very busy it happens, and honestly did not want to wait longer) -The chicken was dry, and needed more flavor. -Also I would recommend wearing hair caps, you don't want to get complaints and/or into legal issues with that. Also hair in food that isn't yours is never a good look. Overall, cool to see a new spot open up in the valley, and wish you the best of luck on the endeavor! I received an email from the manager asking if I'd come back and give them another opportunity on the house. I returned and Chris spoke with me and apologized for the bad experience I had on my first visit and seemed very sincere. This time I got the shawarma mixed plate with rice and hummus. The beef was very tender and very flavorful. For the most part, the chicken was good aside from a few really dry pieces. The garlic sauce actually tasted completely different than it did the first time I had it and it was loaded with garlic flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly and the hummus was outstanding. I was very pessimistic about how my experience would be since the first one was awful. I'm glad I was proven wrong. GET THE BAKLAVA! Seriously, it is absolutely delicious - flaky, nutty, with the perfect amount of syrupy sweetness. We got the mixed shawarma platter which was wonderful, especially the seasoning and cook on the chicken. The gyro wrap was also fabulous. The meat was tender, the veggies were fresh, and it was a perfect ratio of tzatziki to veggies to meat to pita. Bella was incredibly friendly and answered all of our questions. She helped us pick the perfect entrees for our lunch! Above and beyond service would be an understatement. We waited months for this place to open and are so glad we were finally able to come in. Like many others I have to say the staff were friendly and nice and the restaurant was very clean. However that is where the positives end... fries were most likely cooked earlier in the day and kept in a warmer because they were terrible and oily. The chicken Shawarma was dryer than a desert and heavily covered in a dry curry seasoning... unfortunately it was uneatable and we had to through it out. The gyro meat was soggy and obviously kept heated in liquid and not sliced fresh as it should have been. Lastly the pita bread was hard a tact and not eatable.
