This is the worst place and most unprofessional business! Joe is very rude as I had cancelled a tire order within 2 days after our order. He did not get the message apparently and called me out for an unpaid balance of $22.00 which I owed and then paid. He accused me of not responding for 2 weeks which is false as I responded 2 x during the 1 week. He also accused my husband of almost hitting his car that was parked close to the entrance of the garage entrance. He also accused my husband was intoxicated. Really? Who does that? Number 1 , my husband does not drink. There was purchase of Non Alcoholic beer in his car. So what? I have been taken advantage of over and over when taking my vehicle to a dealership and other auto service places. I recently was convinced to pay $800 for $400 tires. They were really bad tires. I realize I have to take some ownership in this, but it is a little difficult for me to trust the auto care service world.. A while back, a man knocked on my door and sold me a coupon book for Shawnee Auto Service Center. I decided to get my free oil change and get out of there. When I arrived, I explained my recent experiences. They were so nice, so professional, and answered so many of my questions. Shawn (sorry if I spelled it wrong) took me outside to show me and explain things that needed to be repaired on my car so it would be safe for my next trip. They did an amazing job. I will be returning. I highly recommend the coupon book. It saved me a ton of money. I will be returning. read more

I was quoted $7,400 at the dealership to fix my catalytic converter, lifters on both sides, diagnostic and fix a sensor. Took it to Shawnee auto and they were able to determine that only the lifters had to be done to get the sensor to not trigger and that my cat converter wasn't the issue. $2,300 - I'll always trust bringing my truck to them because the solved the issue and weren't trying to take advantage of the situation. I had actually given them my quote too. You can trust they will fix only what needs fixing. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! COMPLETE CON ARTISTS! Our alternator stopped working in the neighborhood of this automotive repair company, and we had very little choice but to take our car here. HUGE MISTAKE. 1. It's not the first time I have had an alternator go out, so I know all the signs. When I explained this to the "technician" he explained that they automatically do a full diagnostic test to be certain. I explained that a simple electronics test would perfectly diagnose the problem. He completely disregarded my opinion and supposedly ran the test anyway. Which would cost $80 versus $20 for a simple electronics test. More on how they actually did do ONLY an electronics test, but tried to charge me for the full diagnostic later... 2. Upon leaving the keys and asking for an estimate of how much their alternators run from their supplier, the 'technician' stated NO MORE THAN $150. Wow.. either that guy can't do math, or we got scammed. Not only was it more than $150, but it was $260 for an alternator for a small compact ford. Yeah. Advance Auto parts, NAPA, O'Rielys, etc... none were over $200. Who the heck is making this alternator for $260?! 3. Oh, did I mention they charged us for well over an hour labor for an alternator? For a job that takes MAYBE 45 minutes. Oh, and these guys charge $110 an hour for labor! Seriously? This mechanic makes more than my attorney per hour?! I guess I need to go back to school to become a mechanic! To top that off, they charged an additional "supply fee" of $20. 4. Upon looking at the car, they gave us a quote of $512 for REPLACING AN ALTERNATOR! I'm sorry, but really!? No. Ridiculous. However, the trick about an alternator going out... the car doesn't move very far without one. So we were stuck. They knew it. They took advantage. So, what did they try to do? They ONLY did an electronics test. When we asked to see the diagnostics report that they were charging us $80 for, they couldn't provide it. So, they said we will only charge you for the electronics test. IF WE WOULDN'T HAVE ASKED TO SEE THE REPORT, THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED US FOR WORK THAT WAS NEVER DONE! This knocked the price down a bit. Yay! However. The total bill being almost $450, this was about $150 more ON AVERAGE than EVERY single automotive company in Johnson County. This company is by far the worst automotive company I have ever used. I am so astonished by their behavior that I am also submitting this information to the Better Business Bureau. Shame on you Shawnee Auto Service Center! I hope you go out of business soon, but wait! With all these up charges, you probably never will. However, I hope the intelligent residents of Shawnee will now know to take their business elsewhere. Maybe that will drive you out of our neighborhood for good. read more

This place never ceases to amaze me on the quality and service I receive. I began taking my vehicles here in 2011. Back then, it was our company equipment manager that brought our fleet vehicles there and mentioned that he's always had a good experience so I tried it out. You'll be greeted with a very clean and welcoming lobby. There is almost always someone at the service counter and barely a wait. You can explain all of the issues you're having and they'll diagnose it for you. One of the most appreciated traits of this business is that they'll notify you before any service is done and not make you feel ashamed if you turn something down. They've NEVER tried to oversell me on anything. A lost art if you ask me. Sure the part prices are inflated and their labor is a bit higher than what you'd expect at a "tire dealer", but for the quality you receive, it's a non-issue. I'd rather have a certified mechanic working on my stuff than someone they found off craigslist. I may also mention that the owner Ron and the service manager Bill always make an attempt to chat with you while you're there. Love seeing that personal, hometown touch. I'll be coming back to this place as long as it's there. read more

Dropped my car off at 7am on a Saturday morning, got a call around 8am, the thermostat housing is bad needs replaced or it'll keep over heating and could cause more problems, had part replaced and got my call around 1pm my car is fixed and ready to go!! Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience yesterday. I had made an appointment to buy new tires but still had to wait over 2 hours. It would have been helpful if they would have let me know this service was going to take longer-than-expected. While waiting, the t.v. was very loud and on a program that kept detailing gruesome situations from a brain being "blown up all over" (in detail) and a woman being raped. Since I was the only customer in the waiting area, I tried to turn down the volume or change the channel but was not able. I did take refuge outside a couple of times even though the only place to sit was the curb. Finally, a worker returned to the waiting area so I could ask him to change the channel which he kindly did. The last disappointing experience was using the restroom; it/they offered a broken soap dispenser that someone had put some water in so it looked like there was soap in it. Pretty disappointing since we are in the middle of a global pandemic. The mechanic who tested/drove my car and returned my keys to the front desk did not wear a mask; I'm guessing he did not wear a mask while test-driving my car, either. I had previously referred family members to Shawnee Auto due to positive experiences so maybe this is why I was so disappointed. I hope this gives Shawnee Auto ideas for improvement. read more

Dishonest and overpriced. Charged me for 4 hours of labor when they spent 1.5 hours working on it. When questioned, they told me they charge book rates. I understand the "book rate" but they charged me $398 for 1.5 hours of labor. For the parts they charged me $250 for what I later found out was $90 at any auto store. Again, I understand they are not a charity and need to make money but it seems a little excessive. The other charges were "supplies". They evaced and redid my AC and it was blowing warmer air than when I went in and the other parts they replaced were leaking when I got home. Turns out that after they replaced the radiator, the radiator fan conveniently quit on my way home. They told me they are completely unrelated and it would be an additional $600 for them to fix that. I politely declined and had the work done elsewhere for $200 in a half hour. All told, I spent $1000 on an hour and a half of work that was done poorly and when I questioned they nicely told me that is how they make money since their techs are on commission. We had a terrible experience here! If you think $967.13 is a fair price for 2 wheel brake job, go ahead and use these folks. Work done that was not needed ( calipers- we drove in) and dirty fluid in the master cylinder after paying for them to be flushed) I don't know if they treat locals better or if our out of state tags were a factor, but I say RUN DON'T WALK IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN NEED OF REPAIRS NEAR HERE. They sell a coupon book for $69.99 that has all sorts of free goodies in it. I took my car in to get my brakes checked, dachas it was a free service on the book & it was about to expire (they are only good for a year.) I have new rear brakes installed at NTB less than 6 months before. Well Shawnee Auto Center called saying ALL my brakes needed serviced, and my grandpa decided to get a second opinion. (I always ask his opinion because I don't know much about cars.) Well, we took the car to NTB prepared to fix whatever we needed too- and the brakes were fine. Not a thing wrong with any of them. We used to be loyal customers of Shawnee Auto- but after knowing they tried to get $198 out of me for literally nothing? No thanks. Never again. Stay away! read more

Update: The owner responded immediately the next day informing me that he was unaware that there were lower priced parts in the market compared to what his wholesaler was providing him. Needless to say he was apologetic and refunded me $250 to get the overall price into a more reasonable range. I was satisfied with this end result and in the future, considering the technology available today, I'll call around for part prices while I wait for my quote. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I sent my wife in to get the rear brake pads replaced which I knew were due for a replacement. They told her that the front pads were also 95% worn so of course she had the front replaced as well. My wife specifically asked for the old brake pads and when I looked at them the front brake pads were not even close to needing replaced. When I went into the shop the next day and showed the old brake pads to the technician he agreed they did not need to be replaced and that I should talk to the owner "Ron". I wish I would have seen the first review before I went there. However, it's Sunday and my headlight went out last night so had to fix it today. Light and replacement labor good but after we left my car was making a weird sound. My husband took it right back over and the manager and mechanic automatically said they did not cause it. The mechanic listened to the sound and said that sounds like your ABS system and for $69 ill do an ABS check... My husband got the name of the owner and will call him tomorrow, but unfortunately I have to drive two hours for a work meeting tomorrow. I'm praying my brakes will be safe. read more

We have been taking our cars here since they opened here (at least 10 years) and with 6 kids, we have had a lot of cars - currently F150, Kia, Avalanche, Taurus. They have ALWAYS been very honest with us - telling us if they've found something and whether it is urgent to be replaced or can wait. Unlike the Firestone by our office where we occasionally go in for oil changes and without fail there is a problem. Like my battery is almost dead but then take it to Shawnee Auto and its almost perfect. And their prices are FAR better than Firestone too. They've helped our older son who has very little money and a problematic car. I could go on and on. But I've never posted a review until now because this weekend, they went above and beyond. I picked my car up late on Saturday, almost closing time, and had another question/issue. I told them I could wait til Monday because it was so hot, it was now past closing time and they were off on Sunday due to Father's Day. Every one of the techs stayed late, told me to give them 10 minutes. They fixed my issue, free of charge, held my door and told me to drive safe and have a good weekend. Don't waste your time or money. Took a car in for an alignment three separate times and came back worse each time. Finally refunded my money after I took it to a different shop who had NO problem doing the work correctly. The service tech's up to and including the store manager were all difficult to work with and had horrible attitudes. The store manager even called me a "d!@#head" as he was hanging up the phone. When I inquired about it the "gentleman" ringing me up immediately became loud and confrontational. He said that this is how they make their money.
