I made an appointment with a hairstylist named Gaby. She was able to accommodate me at the last minute as I wanted an updo for a wedding I attended this past weekend. I was able to book an appointment for the next day, so I appreciated her flexibility! I sent her a picture of what I wanted and she said in order to hold the appointment, I needed to provide a $30 deposit. The total charge was $90 for the hair style. She asked me valid questions such as if my hair was naturally curly or straight, if I had already washed it or had product in it, and so on. When I arrived at the hair salon, it appeared to be clean and modern. It didn't seem very busy for a Saturday, but that was fine with me because I had a limited amount of time to get in and out of there. Since I had shown Gaby what I wanted the day before, I assumed that she would've been able to put this together pretty easily. I honestly wasn't looking for perfection. I just wanted a pretty updo, so I wasn't trying to be too picky. After all was said and done, it took her approximately an hour and 15 minutes to complete my request, which was totally reasonable. Don't get me wrong, my hair style turned out pretty- it's just not what I envisioned. I thought the overall design on the back of my hair was way off, but I still got compliments on my hair at the wedding. My hair was botched at Bella American a week before I went into Shears. I lost 6-10" unevenly and was given an unwanted and unflattering "money-piece." Despite my protests, my hair was bleached down to my scalp in spotty panels. I was crying, and I kept my hair in hats until I could go to Shears. Avoid this place at all costs. Service and quality has gone downhill recently, years ago I would go to Griselda as she understood color and curls. My mom was in need of a short hair cut and decided to give Shears a chance, well big big regret. Haircut is $35 which is not bad but you come out looking worse than you were. Hair dresser Gabby was very inexperienced, only wet the hair without shampoo and end result: very uneven choppy layers. You are rushed out of there and no minimal effort was done to style it so you don't walk out looking like you dragged out of bed. Hair salon manager really needs to focus on hiring better stylists, and or train them better. Very very disappointed. Do not recommend! read more

My 14 year old had been wanting a hair cut for a while now. We just moved to Palmdale, so I don't have my go-to places yet. So I relied on the reviews. Shouldn't have done that. My daughter's cut was choppy and way too short on the bangs. She was so upset. The first three pictures are what she showed the hairdresser, the last two is the cut she got. I got my hair done by Brenda Pelayo IG: vicioustyling. I'm not sure where the miscommunication happened. I wanted to work towards the inspo pictures and instead got orangey brassy hair because she said i asked to keep my "natural hair and dimension"? I'm not sure how to have been clearer after sending and describing inspo pics. She kindly booked me again to strip and tone my hair again two weeks later but it made the color WORSE and more dark and orange as shown on the last picture. She said Something along the lines of "I added gold last time to the toner, that's was a mistake, I won't this time". And that didn't help it. I've been getting my hair lightened for years and this has never happened. Hopefully it was atleast a learning experience for her because I've been very upset over it. read more

Don't go here. The owner herself cut my hair - it's the worst haircut I've ever had in my life and I'll never forget this place - this was a while ago and I just now remembered to leave this review. I actually went home and cried looking at how badly she did it. She cut it way too short and it was a blunt cut straight across - no styling whatsoever and still charged full price. Short hair does not suit me..i fully realized how bad it looked after going home and washing it - It looked so ugly and took forever to Grow out. She scheduled me with a stylist who was late, then say me down in the chair and told me she couldn't do the cut I wanted and she was not the person I wanted doing my color with what I wanted. Honestly, not a bad place you do need to wait for them to call you in even if you had already made an appt. I did however experience an awful embarrassment from a lady there. I have dandruff and I DID specify this to my hair lady and she agreed to still do my hair... my hair appt was here and she started speaking so loudly that I have lice and that I need to get this fixed, she also had moved me to a corner chair so u wouldn't "contaminate" anything. She then called her manager and even her manager was telling her that it was dandruff and no lice, the hair lady was even arguing back with her own manager. I was in search of a new stylist after a bad experience at another salon. I found Sabrina, stalked her Instagram and contacted her to schedule a consultation. She was able to get me in the next day. She looked at my hair explained what she would do and scheduled my appointment. I was nervous because I had a bad experience at a different salon and really hoped my hair would turn out. It turned out better than I hoped. Sabrina is a master colorist! She got rid of the brass and got me to a gorgeous blonde! I highly recommend Sabrina to anyone wanting to go blonde. The stylist who took me was not the stylist who I made an appointment with but since I didn't have a preference it didn't bother me. She was very young though which concerned me and it turns out my concerns were justified. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she had all these technical questions I didn't know how to answer. I mean, I'm showing you a picture, start my layers where the layers start in the picture! The cut ended up not being what I wanted but I didn't know how to tell her to fix it because I'm not a stylist.
