Just had dinner here! What a hidden gem! You really should go, if you haven't already. It's a truly fantastic place! The ambience is perfect! The food is beyond delicious and the service is so friendly and attentive! We chatted with the owner, Pablo and his wife, Bertha about wine and food. Pablo gave us tasters of several wines he had. We had a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot and it was amazing! We shared a bowl of the Asparagus and Fallow Grains soup. OMG! Their soups are to die for! Last time I was here, I had the mushroom bisque. Truly delicious. Tonight I had the Chicken Toscana with bow tie pasta. It was so good. So much flavor and huge portions! I've got lunch for tomorrow! My husband had the Fig & Prosciutto Pizza. The combination of sweet and salty was incredible! I sound like I'm gushing too much but it really is that good! After dinner, Pablo gave a couple more tasters of wine he thought we'd enjoy. Unfortunately, this last visit was rather disappointing. The staff is nice and the crabcakes were delicious, but the boar shank was horrific! I thought mine was a bit plain so I took it home to season it up. My friend gave me hers and I could see why she didn't eat hardly any of it. It was as tough as leather! I've had a couple of wonderful evenings here in the past and the duck breast was amazing. But please stay away from the boar shank. At least in my personal opinion, it was terrible! read more

One of my favorite restaurant PERIOD!!! I have dined and held a number of birthday dinners here when in Ventura County and the food and service is perfect every.single.time. My go to is the ahi poke and the bruschetta. I personally have brought a number of my friends here & am always excited to introduce them to this gem! The food and service is of the highest quality. It is hidden in this casual strip mall and so when you go inside you are in awe of what a fancy atmosphere you have stepped into. It's like traveling from Camarillo to a cute little restaurant in Europe. I cannot rave enough about this restaurant and so all I will say is, stop by and support this wonderful restaurant!!! A real gem of a place, and you wouldn't know it from the outside other than a fairly large "Wine Bar" sign. Located in a typical strip mall along with a Paseo Camarillo Cinemas, Basil & Mint, Cronies, and Pan Asia among other businesses. Frankly, this strip is in great need of a facelift, but that shouldn't detract you from dining at Sheila's. Totally cute covered patio and inside dining with bar. No matter where you chose to sit, it's a pleasure. I came here on a double-date, with my gf, and a great friend visiting from NY and his nearby (for us), Ventura gf. We had a lovely time. Sheila's is charming and sweet, and we loved the food. My gf and I shared a Greek Salad [$13, 4.0 stars], and I had a bit pricey, the Beef Stroganoff [$25, 4.0 stars]. The food was nicely presented. I said that I hadn't been to Sheila's wine bar and restaurant in quite some time, so we went there last night with our two best friends. We shared the baked Brie which was delicious. I had the beef stroganoff which was amazing. My husband got the filet with potatoes and veggies, he loved it . Our friends got the salmon and pasta with clams. They said it was very tasty. Our favorite place when we want something fancy. We haven't had a single thing off the menu that isn't delicious. Their bruschetta though is hands down the best I've had! Seriously, it's incredible. I usually end up getting fish when we go there, mainly because their specials for fish are almost always creative and sound too good to pass up. I'm glad this place is so hidden because it helps the cozy atmosphere when there isn't a huge line of people all over the place. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Camarillo, if not the best. If it wasn't so expensive, we'd definitely be there for more than just special occasions. From the outside you wouldn't expect it to be so wonderful, however, once you walk in its like a whole little world. This amazing restaurant popped up when I was searching for a date nite spot for my fiancé and I. We were immediately greeted and seated. The entire staff at one point or another checked in on us to make sure everything was great. Our server was amazing, friendly and efficient! I have to say we were so impressed with the staff but also the food was so delicious and presented quite lovely as well. I had the scallops that were prepared perfectly cooked and tender and the sides were so tasty as well. My fiancé had the steak and it was also prepared perfectly to order. The wine selection is extensive and we settled on a Rhone. AMAZING!!! I'll start with the food, WOW!! We started with the Smoked duck, fig jam, arugula crostini. The duck was perfectly smoked. The combo between smoky, salty and sweet was divine. We ordered off the specials menu because Chef Ivan cooks with seasonal items. So whatever is currently growing is what he creates with. So whatever on specials is guaranteed to be there the next time you come in. That being said I ordered the pork chop on a bed of creamy garlic Parmesan polenta, side of charred broccolini on top of puréed carrots. I can't begin to explain how thrilled I was with my choice!! Pork chop was cooked perfectly. Super juicy and tender. My hubby ordered the halibut with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The fish was also cooked perfectly and literally flaked away from itself. The sauces and all the cohesive flavors in all these dishes really showed Chef Ivan and his crew's talents!! We were so stuffed that we couldn't indulge in any of their yummy deserts but we had just enough room for a decaf affogato. We CANNOT WAIT to go back. Now we have to talk about the staff. What an amazing group of people!!! It was such a pleasure to have met Pablo and Bertha (the owners) which also happen to be Chef Ivan's parents. A family affair, which is very important for us to support. They all give you the feeling of being part of the family. Very embracing group of people. The kind you would want to go back to over and over again! The way they took the time to explain to us the importance of having organic produce, local farm products, and ethically sourced proteins was beyond important for us! First time here on a Friday night and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. Server was friendly and easy going. We ordered a couple drinks along with bruschetta. My only complaint is online it is posted they close at 10 PM on Fridays, at 9:22 PM the lights shut off. We then asked what time they closed, they stated it was a slow night so they were closing early. Don't be hesitant to enter because the curb appeal is not sexy. It's in a strip mall and the signage and windows make it look like an old pizza joint or something. Instead, walking in you feel like you have been transported to a place that is warm and inviting; warm lighting, nice pictures on the wall, wine racks with wine lining the wall; beautiful and unique. I had an excellent dinner at Sheila's Place that would rival any excellent restaurant in the Bay Area! I called and made reservations based on a fellow Yelpers recommendation. There are probably less than 15 tables. My friend was running late and as I sat down at the bar I was immediately acknowledged, greeted kindly and given the main menu and specials menu. The special menu was a nice clean printed paper (not crumpledbent up). The wine selection was minimal (1 page), but the choices were EXCELLENT choices and moderately priced for great options. Other restaurants have terrible selections and charge moderate or high prices. At least here people with finer taste buds are given a nod with choices other than Justin. Wine drinkers will get my point and frustration with Ventura county restaurants. The food choices are great and healthy. My friend and I ordered the Brie appetizer and it was so yummy! They also served fresh baked bread roles with a vinaigrette dipping sauce. Both were great! I might just come for the wine, charcuterie and Brie next time! Fireworks in my mouth! My friend ordered the ribeye steak and it was made perfectly medium rare. I ordered the Alaskan Halibut and it was perfect also! Presentation was great. Server was friendly and attentive. I never felt rushed. We were there from 7-930. We took our time to eat and chat. They boxed our food (I hate that restaurants stopped doing that). We were given water without asking; I like that. We were sitting close to the door and so it was chilly. We asked our server to close the door for us and he did, then it became nice and cozy. We did not have dessert, but the table next to us had bread pudding and there were ooh's and ah's. We were so full! Our bill with 4 glasses of wine (we ordered the best cab at $15 pg) was $150. My only recommendation is Sheilas Place be unique and provide a dry aged prime steak option. I have not found a Ventura county steakhouses that provide prime steak (different than prime rib), only "choice". Maybe Ventura yelpers just don't know the difference in quality and restaurants slide by charging prime meat rates for choice meat (Ie. Prime, Wood Ranch). I enjoyed every minute at Sheila's Place. It was a much needed rendezvous. Yes, it is expensive, but I feel like I got what I paid for in attentive service, great food, relaxing atmosphere, and great wine. I am willing to pay for all of that because I am a foodie and I walked in knowing what to expect with that price tag and I received it. read more

My parents were very excited to have us try their favorite restaurant out with them for lunch today. We were greeted by a very warm and friendly staff. (Clearly, my parents have been here several times) My father ordered their scallops for the table, which were amazing. I ordered their classico pasta with chicken, freshly made and delicious. Husband ordered the pastrami sandwich while our daughter ordered their fig and prosciutto pizza...both very good. Father ordered their burger, which has been touted 'best in Ventura Conunty', and by golly, it was yummy! Mother ordered the Chinese chicken salad. Disappointing all around. I searched for an hour to find a good bet for nice evening dinner. Not here. We were sat in the lobby waiting area where 2 tables were placed...overflow? Not one person came in after our 7pm arrival. House manager said without reservations, this was it. Wild Boar shank was beef chuck pot roast. I shared some with one of the people at my table. She said it tastes like beef pot roast. Ta-da! Reviews say their fresh sourdough rolls before dinner were special. Same house manager came to table and said, "Would you like to start with fresh bread?" I says, your reviews say it is complimentary." He said, "Most people say the don't want the bread." What?? He is sending a message that he would a save a dime when our 3-person dinner was over $150. Closer to $200. read more

Top Notch Experience! First time visit, sat on the patio. We were attended to by Motti, our waiter, and a whole flurry of other people who work as a great team. The service was exemplary. We had the bruschetta (excellent) and the baked Brie (even more excellent!). They didn't rush us, but timed things well. I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes, broccolini & asparagus. The steak was perfectly cooked and the portions were perfect also. My husband had the hangar steak with fingerling potatoes...also cooked to perfection.
