I ordered the Unagi & Egg Salad Sando along with an ube drink topped with cream and shredded cheese. Although the sando was fried, it had an incredibly satisfying crunch that perfectly complemented the creamy egg salad and the generous piece of unagi on top. It was a delicious combination of textures and flavors. The ube drink was equally impressive--rich, flavorful, and fun to drink (and chew!) thanks to its unique toppings. Prices were very reasonable, and the service was friendly and efficient. Based on this experience alone, I'd definitely like to visit the restaurant in the future. read more

We had a 2:15 reservation & were hungry a little earlier & the restaurant accommodated us an hour early which was nice. The entrance area is narrow & crowded when the place is busy. However, the hostess did her best to seat us quickly in a nice corner table after the treats were set up on the cute three-tier serving tower. Our server came over & asked for our tea choices, then they were brought right over. The tea was good. The savory items on the tower were tasty. Three types of finger sandwiches, artichoke cheese bites, & crab tart. The fluffy strawberry scones were also really great. The sweet items were okay... honestly, too many sweets for me, but my mom enjoyed the lemon tart, raspberry macaron & all the things. The service was great. I appreciated their attentiveness. IMHO this tea was not worth the price for what we received, but it was a pleasant experience. It was not elevated & sophisticated though. After attending an event at City Hall, we needed a place for a group lunch for about ten people. Son and Garden was a great place for that. It was close (within walking distance) and we were able to make reservations in advance. We visited around 11am on a Wednesday. The food was good, although we did see on the menu that its states "Substitutions or modifications are politely declined". We didn't try asking for any, but usually prefer restaurants that are more accommodating. Some of the menu offerings are a really creative twist on traditional dishes. The Bibimbap, for example, has a big piece of fried chicken. The grilled chicken salad is presented in a crispy shell made of fried parmesan cheese. Parking in this area is tight. Came for the Bridgerton tea with friends for a birthday and the pre experience over email was friendly and very communicative. We appreciated that very much. The service was smooth and we were there when it was fairly empty. The lower stars was mostly because there were several empty tables but as more parties came, they were all seated in the same area making the atmosphere feel cramped. Then it got really busy and with only 2 staff available, it felt like we were forgotten. Then, as you walk in, you can see that the ceilings and the decorations are all so vibrant and beautiful. We were there for the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea experience. Besides the decoration, I feel like the food and the tea were quite average for the price we paid! We paid nearly $80 per person. We were full at the end but the desserts and the sandwiches were just average. My favorite was the warm scones. I like the berries in the scones and how fluffy they are. I think the afternoon tea expensive price doesn't justify the mediocre food quality. I have only been here for the afternoon tea experience. I finally got the chance to check out Son and Garden after seeing it all over social media for the longest! We came in on a Monday with a group of 7 people. It wasn't busy and they were able to seat us right away! The restaurant is so pretty and filled with beautiful artificial flowers all over the walls and ceiling. There is even a cute photo op with a ring light for you to snap some pics! I'd say they have an extensive brunch menu which focuses on Asian-American fusion. Not worth the hype and only good for cute decor. I went for brunch with two friends, so we each got a drink and then three plates to share. Our check totaled to $127 and personally, did not think it was worth it. Each of us got different drinks and didn't like them. I got the tiramisu latte which tasted nothing like tiramisu and was overall not good. The matcha wasn't very strong and the beet latte had espresso (which I guess usually isn't included). We ordered the volcano pancakes, the ube mochi pancakes, and the short rib omurice. I would say the volcano pancakes are the only worthwhile item to order. The liquid chocolate wasn't too sweet and the pancakes were well cooked. The ube pancakes were pretty starchy and didn't have a strong ube flavor. For the short rib omurice, we thought the meat was really flavorful and tender, however, the rice was just white rice instead of the usual seasoned fried rice. We had a party at seven, and from the first person being served to the last person being served their food, it was at least 30 minutes. It was crowded because it was a New Year's, and it's tough to get a brunch reservation when a lot of the other restaurants are closed, but they really need to work on their timing. I got the garden omelette and it was OK, but this potatoes and scone that it came with were really delicious. My boyfriend got a crab omelette that looked pretty good but I did not have a bite. Everybody else seemed to like their food. The drinks were really pretty and served and adorable cups. I ordered a hot tea and it came in a darling tea pot with a matching teacup. It was very fun and instagrammable. The food was good, not amazing, but definitely good. I'm not sure if their reservation policy was just for New Year's Day or if it's always pretty strict, but it was a 48 hour cancellation with a credit card. I think it was $25 per person if you didn't show up. Kind of a bummer because we forgot we had free breakfast at our hotel and we had booked it 48 hours in advance so there was no chance to cancel it. There were a few more "photo" spots. I also think the menu differed a bit . We came as a group and tried a variety of their alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Service was good, and seating was very comfortable with pretty florals decorating the entire restaurant. I ordered a warm ube latte and a Bear Belly Carbonara. Okay finally came here after having it on my to go list for over a year. And I can't believe I've wasted all that time not visiting sooner. If you like brunch, this is your place. Great with the fruit compote that came with it as an "end of meal" bite. Would recommend getting for the table! Korean Benedict- not exactly sure why it's called a Benedict as the only thing remotely like one is the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. But this dish was exceptional. I loved the short rib and kimchi fried rice. Expect a ton of food with this entree! Bear Belly Panini- the sandwich was well put together. The bread was light and fluffy and all the flavors melded together well. But the star was hands down the bear belly. If you don't get this dish, at least ensure you order something with bear belly for the table. It's basically candied pork belly. Bibimbap- excellent. The fried chicken was moist but with a crunchy breading. And the fried rice underneath was full of veggies and flavor. It's a very filling and tasty brunch version of a typical bibimbop Hola! Omelet- I actually didn't get to try this by my friend who got it said it was delicious. I did get to try the blueberry scone and it was sweet, savory, and fluffy. I'd be willing to just buy the scone! Smoked Salmon Benedict- has a small bite and the poached egg was well cooked and the smoked salmon flavor really shines through. The lemon hollandaise sauce really paired well. They also have high tea- I plan to check that out as well in the future. But I'll definitely be back for the brunch. read more

Honestly, would not have taken another bite of it. I think the mushiness just completely blocked out any matcha or pancake flavor whatsoever. We informed the staff about this and they tried to convince us that they were supposed to be like this, but in the end offered us a replacement for the ricotta pancakes which turned out to be delicious! So I genuinely think it was a mistake for the matcha mochi pancakes, otherwise they could've tasted great as other people have mentioned. When we got our tea, they forgot to bring tea cups, which we had to flag down a server again to get. Our water glasses were routinely empty and we had to again flag someone down to get refills. Overall, the service left a lot to be desired. Food: The tea service had a few tea choices available, nothing extensive - a black tea, a green tea, and a mint tea. The tea was good, no complaints there, but I was hoping for a little more variety. The food for the tea service was good. It included three different types of sandwiches - a smoked salmon and cream cheese, a turkey sandwich, and egg salad. It also came with a warm blueberry scone, a mini croquette with artichoke, and my favorite- a handmade samosa (so, so tasty). The desserts were plentiful - a mini lemon tartlet, a mini lava cake, matcha blini, opera cake, and a chocolate mousse brownie. The mini lava cake was my favorite! We were never informed that we only had 20-30 minutes to place our order before the kitchen closed, which made the entire experience feel rushed and stressful. To make matters worse, my friend had brought a cake for the occasion, and it took an unreasonably long time for the staff to bring it out. Shortly after, we were rushed to leave.
