On this Speedway trip I was heading to the Milwaukee area to catch the Red Bull event. It's conveniently located off the highway. I think the hidden gem of this place is the gas pumps behind the building. I even tried out the new Laredo Tacos that are replacing most of the Speedy Cafe's. Their breakfast tacos aren't bad but the quality compares to hotel breakfast food. I will say the shelves are stocked. Staff is sub par, bathrooms are fair. Not the best location but it is convenient at least!

Lewis Fresh Market certainly isn't one of those cramped little stores. Has a lot of produce and other items. The prices aren't the best but they're pretty comparable to other places. Best thing is the produce because it's all fresh. It's comparable to the Cermak Fresh Markets. There's a lot of Mexican and other Latino stuff in here along with some other countries too. Has quite a lot to go through so you can find many good items. There's a grill to order tacos and tortas. Also there's a hot bar and salad bar. Other popular areas include the bakery where they cut fresh loaves. Has even more produce outside, especially when they have pumpkins in autumn. The prices are okay for being fresh. For sure we could go here again if in the area. It's got a couple locations, including this one on Grand. The produce is considered to be the best stuff.

The gas was priced @ $284.9/gallon. FYI Shell Gas has always been my Number 1 preferred Option, but because of the huge price discrepancy I use Costco Gas. In this case it was 10 cents less then the Costco in Niles @ $294.9/gallon. Typically Costco runs 20-30 cents less then the other gas stations. The difference being one gas station is in CROOK County and the other is in Lake County. Anywho I gassed up my car at Shell in Lake County and saved a few bucks.

Let's face it, Walgreens has commoditized the corner drug store concept. There is very little differentiation from store to store. The people are trained to be helpful, and the product selection varies little. I have had no problems with getting my prescriptions filled here. With Walgreens refill apps for smart phones, it's fast and easy. I've been going there for over a decade and it's reliable. If I had any gripes, I wish the pharmacy were open 24 hours. The times on weekends can be short if you need something urgently. Also, there's no clinic there, so you have to go to the Walgreens on west Grand in Gurnee near Almond Road for clinic services. Otherwise, let's not pretend this Walgreens is any better or worse than the others. It's as good as any and not bad at all.

I just received a call from CVS Pharmacy from a gentleman who said 'We don't take your insurance'…read more He was quite blunt and rude. Mind you, I just got new insurance and CVS is one of the options by way of Optum. I assured him that he was incorrect and then he says 'call your insurance, they'll tell ya'.... Historically we've enjoyed using Walgreens for our meds and I WOULD MUCH RATHER stay with Walgreens because this gentleman who called me was extremely unprofessional!

I called this location and they first told me they didn't have any record of me at their location and told me to call a different location and that location said it was at their location. I called back and spoke to the manager this time, and he continued to say that they had no record of me and asked why I was going to this location as if that was pertinent information for him. He continued to be very sassy and rude so I became frustrated as he did not believe me that the app and the other location both said that the medication was ready at his location. I then asked to speak to somebody else, and he said there was nobody else at their location. Magically there was somebody else there and when she checked, she found the prescription. She stated that she didn't scroll to the bottom of my profile, which they originally said, didn't exist, to see the prescription. I strongly advise staying clear of this location if possible. It is clearly a very poorly run store with employees who lack proper training and customer service skills.
