I've grown up coming here with my parents since I was a kid and I have never left this store upset. The way each worker treats you all the way from the supervisors to the rookies is phenomenal . The workers at shell will go above and beyond to look for something as simple as a 2 dollar bolt. Best advise I can give anyone is to save your time and money from places like home-depot and come to shell where they really appreciate their customers. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. First of all the parking is a nightmare, good luck. Second, they have a bunch of employees doing nothing but walking around talking eating and being completely unprofessional. Not once did someone ask if I needed help. All I needed to order was ONE plank of wood for my stairs. Besides the fact the person I was speaking with had zero knowledge and even worse training (not his fault, clearly this is a management issue), I had to go in person to explain to the SALES MANAGER what I needed for this one plank. Not rocket science. Just a plank with a bullnose! The sales manager is nothing short of condescending and rude. Speaking to him you would think he was giving you the stuff for free and doing you a favor! In the end I had to pay $20 that I still don't know what it's for, and when I asked the sales manager IZZY what I.t was for he never gave me a straight answer. Just a lot of attitude. I ended up complaining to the general manager who was very nice, Professional and apologetic. He ended up waiving the $20. But that's besides the point. The worst of I.t was that I.t took over 3 weeks to get this one plank of wood from them. Unbelievable. GO TO LUMBER LIQUIDATORS!! They treat their customers with respect and are actually knowledgeable in what they're selling. Never again. Worst experience ever. read more

Prefer Home Depot all day. Even though the prices are a bit cheaper I'd rather shop some where else.

I'm giving Shell Lumber a 5 star review for 2 reasons: 1) because of the way our order was handled by the sales specialist, Noe Levi, and 2) the lumber we needed was available at a reasonable price. Noe provided efficient sales service and answered all our questions with patience, including delivery options. My son was doing his Eagle Scout Project, which was to build a total of six 8-ft picnic benches with weather treated lumber. Noe was super helpful during the order process and followed up with delivery details when my son had everything coordinated for his Eagle Scout Build Day. It was a great experience end-to-end as everything went very smoothly. I went to Shell Lumber with a lock nut that wouldn't come off from the leg of an old ping pong table. Mathew went beyond the call of duty and removed the old corroded nut off and believe me it wasn't an easy task. He solved the problem and that's why I go to Shell Lumber. read more

Have you tried the food on the Shell Lumber & hardware food truck? My husband and I visited Shell lumber to get a few things needed for home repairs. After we shopped, by the way the friendliest and most helpful employees I've ever seen. We decided to try out the food truck food. The Cuban sandwich and the chili, cheese fries were OUT OF THIS WORLD...my husband had the Lumberjack burger...not only did it taste fantastic, but this burger was HUMONGOUS and cooked to perfection... Shell Lumber is a very nice hardware store. It is large, lot of staff eager to assist you unlike Home Depot and many items the prices are less than it would cost at Home Depot or Lowes. Just recently they expanded the store, now have a garden section and are now open Sundays as well. 3 out of last times I priced my products I needed at Home Depot and Shell lumber and Shell lumber had better prices. read more

Rented a chipping hammer and Danny was extremely helpful and even when he was pulled back to accept the toll back into inventory he was very patient and helpful even thought I was there 20 minutes past the time he suggested I be there. Every experience there is lovely. read more

Bought a wood floor. They have a pretty good selection at Shell. Prices are not the best but not the worst. The sales person was pretty helpful. Ordered the wood and it was supposed to take two weeks to get. They were supposed to deliver it and surprise no show and no call. I called them and they blamed the supplier. We set a time for a delivery a few days later, surprise when they don't show and call again. Third time is the charm I hope on delivery. read more

Made two trips for a project I wanted to complete at home. First trip was ok. Purchased an 8' beam that was 3" thick and had it cross cut into 4 equal pieces. A long wait for service on the cross cut but completed and out the door reasonably happy with the experience. After completing the design of the project I needed to rip cut two 26" pieces of the 3" stock. I paid for the cuts and took it to the millworks area. The supervisor of the millworks area looked at the two pieces of stock and said I would have to pay for it. I told him I had and he said the cashier didn't see the stock. I told him the cashier had it in front of him when he charged me for the cuts. He mumbled something like $20 and additional for each cut and walked away. I found him and asked him if he was going to make the cuts and he said no that I hadn't paid for it. I went to the cashier ... got my refund ... and left. Didn't like the attitude of the millworks supervisor. The cashier told me $20 plus a little over $3 per cut. Over $26 for two 26 inch cuts sounds excessive to me and I originally chose Shell because they had a millworks service. Disappointed. read more

I have had excellent service for years and am only finally writing a review. In the past couple of months, Izzy in contract sales helped me find the perfect replacement patio door -- oversized, and I wanted stainable wood-grain fiberglass -- and then connected me with Spike of Avail Construction for the install. Door arrived earlier than promised; Spike coordinated with Izzy to get it delivered when Spike was at my home; and it is now installed and fabulous. Contract sales (so sorry forget the person's name) identified a solution -- Ipe deck tiles -- for a tricky roof deck two years ago, very helpful. Whether it is the lumber side or hardware side, customer service is uniformly outstanding. Thanks Shell!! read more

This place has been here since your grandfather's day. It and the South Miami Ace on Red Road are the last of the Old Miami hardware stores left. But Shell is also for lumber of all kinds, and is for housewives and finish carpenters, for woodworkers, dads and contractors. There is more help than you can use. If you have any inconvenience or difficulty at all, ask for David, the manager. He is a doctor of hardwareology. They are price competitive and their inventory boggles the imagination. They even serve great burgers, dogs and brats. They have a mill shop where they can do custom work for you, saving you the need to have a garage full of power tools. They have exotic hardwood, every conceivable kind of plywood (including Baltic birch), veneers, If you are at all handy, this is your Mecca in Miami. read more

Their recording tells you how they are different then the big store like Home Depot. That is not entirely. They hang up on me when I called today 3 times they put me on hold several times no on picked up I've spoken to several people and they all try to help, but never provide the correct answer. Shell Lumber is the kind of place that reminds me of the 'old hardware stores' where you'll find more than you ever imagined could be in one mid sized place. Every nook and cranny is packed with QUALITY hardware, plumbing, paint, and boating hard to find stainless goodies ... NO I don't work there ... just wish I could. Brought my oldest daughter into the lumber building just to smell the cornucopia of hard and exotic woods from all over the world. Worth a visit to see why so many have commented about their helpful staff and the several grades above the Big Box stores. read more
