We were not very hungry so we had the crab meat dip with warm pretzels. There was not much crabmeat, but there was plenty for two and very tasty. We were the only ones seating outside and the service was slow to begin, but we ended up with a great server (Joe) who took great care of us. Had dinner here but service from the kitchen and bar was terribly slow. We only ordered a couple salads and they had clearly forgotten about us, after having taken forever to get our drinks made. The waitress was very sweet and apologetic and the service on her end was very good. The food itself was delicious- that soba noodle salad especially! I could've eaten two. Prices are on the higher side for the portions you get, same with drinks... they were great drinks but the prices could come down a little bit. I was also disappointed that when we went back the next day in the afternoon for more drinks, that we couldn't order the pretzel. Something like a pretzel should definitely be available on every menu! As for the ambiance, it was comfortable and cozy. This restaurant is located near the pool and the kids playground. You can sit on the patio and see (older 50 ft away) kids at the playground. The service is slow. The ping pong tables and corn home is opposite the play ground so the older kids could play over there too. We have been here all weekend and only seen the bar staffed with one bartender day or night. The bartender could not make a Moscow Mule and no copper mugs. The roast beef sandwich, fries, 1/2 smoked turkey w/ Caesar and Avocado salad are the best. The pulled pork was meh. The waitstaff isn't young and they seem tired but there are TVs inside and great views and place to relax and watch the kids from the patio. The food is a solid B, B+. read more

Family spent a couple days out at Lost Pines. Decided to try this place instead of the buffet, as they have a set menu that features several decent items. In complete transparency, the waitress was great, service was solid, no issues there. Also, the breakfast buffet was great (omelets, pancakes, etc). Dinner buffet was terrible. Even being terrible, nothing could have prepared for the meal at Shellers... We ordered three kids meals, all fine. Wife and I decided to each order the market Fish, which was Red Snapper that evening. We did try and request the cook substitute rice for the veggies it came with. They could not accommodate (I dunno why, butnot a big deal). The plate was supposed to be red snapper on top of a vegetable medley. This is, technically, what we did receive. However, it was probably the most disgusting plate we have ever tried. The fish was bland, but was not spoiled. The vegetable medley, ruined the entire meal. The only way I can describe the flavor, is by comparing it to the smell of a zoo. It was sweet, sour, salty, disgusting. It was some sort of corn/Lima bean mixture that looked more like vomit than anything edible. I cannot for the life of me imagine anyone thinking this is a dish that should be sent out to customers. We will not be returning. My wife and I took two bites each and left the rest. I am not sure where the disconnect is, but somebody needs to do some serious taste testing there. I was staying at Lost Pines and with two hungry kids decided to eat here as it was on premises, well priced and rather surprising to me when on the middle of Texas - had a dedicated and really creative vegetarian menu. It had all kinds of vegetarian dishes but I settled on the Asian style tofu. It was just an appetizer but was huge to the point I could not finish it and there was no need for anything else! It was delicious and I the accompanying Brussel sprouts !! The kids tried wings which they kindly sent out undressed with three sauces so they could pick the one they liked best. I ordered an IPA but as there was a delay changing taps they had several other suggestions. I tried an alternative drink but later they brought the IPA anyway on the house which there was no need to do but it was just reflective of the excellent service we received all evening My kids tried the s'mores dessert which was out of this world and really replicated the smoky flavor of a true s'more! Stopped in here a few times during a recent business trip. Decent place to grab a quick bite and a drink. The Crispy Fried Avocado is certainly something you don't want to miss. It was a little odd to get used to, it feels like you are in a bar, but there was also some kids running around one night. But in a pinch, it's a good place to get something to eat without going too far. I needed a quick bite on my way to work an event at the Lost Pines, and this place took great care of me in a hurry. The host listened to my need for fast food, recommended a great sandwich, and immediately ran my order. I got it within 3 minutes and loved every bite. I came back that night to watch the game. No home teams we playing in the game I needed to watch (DC vs Vegas Stanley Cup Finals. Go Caps!) but that was no problem getting it on the screens. The pulled pork sandwich was dynamite! Get it! The second meal I got was a grilled cheese. The pepper jack and pork in it sent it over the top. Wow! The fries are decent though they also offer sweet potato fries that I have yet to try. My wife and I have eaten here several times while staying here at the Lost Pines Hyatt and it's typical hotel food, good not outstanding but today's lunch was outstanding and it was the child's spaghetti, spicy margaritas and French fries but the service by Rebecca was incredible and made the whole meal more enjoyable. The manager stopped by as well and she was very nice and made sure our dining experience was going well, I'm sorry I don't have her name but it was definitely a 180 degree turnaround from our experience last night. Service is good. Our waiter was slow and didn't even know a few items on the menu. Sweet tea is very sweet and not the normal sweet tea you would get from a fast food or normal restaurant. Got refills fast. Ordered the queso which was absolutely disgusting. It came out right after we ordered it and it's like they tried to mix stadium queso with Tex-Mex queso. It was probably sitting there for a while and was very bitter. Chips were okay. Not worth the 12 dollars. Ordered the bbq burger and it had 0 bbq flavor. They put way too much cheese on it. I recommend if you get the bbq burger that you ask for it without cheese. The fries were the best part about the whole thing and they were not that good. Came here for a conference. Beautiful location. I should have known better the moment I sat down. Sat down at the bar and the foot step was broken and nearly feel over. Bartender is fairly slow moving but I needed a beer/food after a long day of travel. Asked the bartender if a certain beer (512 Amber Ale) was local and I would like to try it. He had to google it. It wasn't the coldest beer I've had but it was good. I order the burger and a beer. Burger showed up but the beer never did. The stars are for the service only. Our waitress was lovely, despite the fact that she was super overwhelmed. The food was awful. We weren't staying at the resort but drove out for a special occasion dinner, as a friend suggested the steak buffet to us. We called ahead several times and nobody working there could tell us if the buffet would take place but assured us that they were "pretty busy" and that certainly my meant a buffet would be offered for dinner. We arrived, there was no buffet, so our only option was Shellers. I won't go into the poor quality and flavor of the food. I sincerely suggest you go elsewhere for a special occasion dinner. If you are staying at the Hyatt Lost Pines, golfing or just passing through town this restaurant is STELLAR. Their salads are crafted fresh with delicious house made dressing. We tried the greek, caesar and bacon/avocado. The sandwiches are piled high on very fresh bread. We tried the turkey club, blta, veggie wrap and burger. And the wait staff is super nice! If you pop in for dinner, don't skip the salmon plate!!!! This place is a total 5 star (any lower rating does not reflect the quality food and service at Shellers. read more

Who needs to venture into Austin when you have Shellers Barrelhouse Bar inside the Hyatt? It is a fun bar like environment with really cool jean napkins, mason jar chandeliers (LOVED THIS), a pool table, bocce ball table, and a fire pit outside. We all know though that the service can make or break a place -- and all of the staff were extraordinarily wonderful!! I wish I would have got our servers name... she was very cool! Joking with us, making great suggestions, and very much on top of our table. The food was also great! We had eaten at an expensive steak house the night before (Bob's in downtown Austin) and the steak at Shellers was much better! No sauce was needed to use on Sheller's steaks. The desserts were also delicious... rich, but delicious. I recommend the peanut butter chocolate pie! The wings we ordered for starters had a nice crisp and served with 4 sauces... they didn't last at our table for more than 5 minutes! The bar is also fully stocked :) read more

Excellent blackened fish tacos! This was my first time eating at this restaurant at Hyatt Lost Pines. I was concerned that it would be "bar food" and therefore not as good as say Firewheel Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised. We sat on the back patio, but the inside looked like a welcoming place to have a beer and watch a game. It was somewhat busy for lunch, but my friend and I were seated right away. The view of the pool area and playground was relaxing. Our server was attentive and described an amazing sounding burger. If I wasn't planning on having beef for dinner, I definitely would've ordered the burger. The food was prepared timely which I appreciated. The tacos were pretty to look at and equally yummy with purple cabbage, fresh guacamole, green salsa, and perfectly blackened fish. If the fish tacos are that good, I for sure need to come back and get that burger. read more

This place is Terrible. Came to the Lead4ward event at the Lost Pines and decided to have lunch here one day. It was a soup & salad buffet. All the toppings for the salad were gross and it was way over priced. Additionally, there were about 100 people lined up down the hallway waiting to get food. There were so many people I couldn't even go back for a second plate. The area where they do breakfast was completely empty. Knowing so many people were at this conference why didn't they put a second salad bar in that area? I do t know how you mess up salad but they accomplished it. read more

Typically I'm not a fan of hotel/resort restaurants unless the place is pretty spectacular. This place happens to fall into that category. My boyfriend, his mother and I went In around 7 during prime dinner time and expected a long wait but were seated right away! Our waiter was fast and polite and recommended great cocktails that I thought were a bit pricey but after tasting we're strong and totally worth it. Due to allergies I have to be very picky and specific with what I can and can not eat and he was super attentive and willing to tweak anything on the menu! Side note- they also have vegan and vegetarian options ( ask for that menu) Boyfriends burger of the month was fantastic and his moms tacos were great as well. I had a tweaked version of the jicama and corn salad and it was to die for. Super fresh and all the annoying accommodations I needed were correct and without any extra charge. If you're at Lost pines looking for a place to eat... The food is pricey but expected for a resort. What was exorbitant was the drinks not alcoholic drinks ... Coffee 0.0 for crying out loud $4 and no refills... The pricing manager needs to be fed to wild animals... Not a cappuccino, not an espresso, not a latte, tasted like a 6oz cup of Douwe Egbert's... $4 ... If you're here and want coffee, cross the lobby to McDades and come back to your party. Btw... If I were to compare this to the price of gas it would be $85 a gallon... Just saying... It was offensive. I kept the rating at 2 because the food wasn't gross and the people were nice. This is our favorite on site place to eat at Lost Pines. The food is cheaper and homier than the other main restaurant, and generally quite tasty. If you're gluten intolerant beware - the menu has marked certain items gluten free, but it turns out you need to let your server know. It's more of a "can be made gluten free" situation. The servers are great and are always super sweet to my daughter, who gets crayons and multiple coloring pages to keep her occupied while we wait for our food. read more

I was not impressed...The food and drinks were overpriced...We stopped in here a few times during our stay at the resort and each time I left disappointed...I had the wings and a cocktail it is was nearly 30 dollars and both were nothing to brag about...On Saturday night we stopped in for a night cap and the band that was playing was pretty much an amateur blues band that was way too load....I ordered a Vodka Martini that was served in a small steamless martini glass that was only half full for $13.50...I also had a vodka cranberry and both drinks were over priced for what was served...If you're into a noisy load saloon this may be your place....Being a resort I expected a nice quiet lounge to have cocktails with friends...If you plan to visit this resort my advice is pack in your own booze so that you are not ripped off.... read more

Hey there! We spent a night at Lost Pines on a Sunday in late June to the next morning and this is where our group of 13 (6 adults, 5 teens, 2 preteens) ate dinner... SHORT VERSION: lukewarm food, server moving like a legless zombie. Management needs to apply a boot to their butt... LONG VERSION: I had read up on the restaurants before we went. This trip was a gift from one of my sisters for my 50th for our 3 families and my mom. The reviews I had seen had mentioned food quality a couple of times, and service quality A LOT, and not in a good way. They were not wrong... FOOD : The food was actually quite good! The pulled pork was very nice, the burger was good (a little on the small side) everyone had a good meal. The problem was not the TASTE, but the TEMPERATURE. Everything was lukewarm, even the queso dip, which, although tasty, would have been so much better HOT. Everything would have been. This was the same thing we experienced the following day at another Lost Pines restaurant, Firewheel, at breakfast. SERVICE: Wow. Slow. That's the word. 10-12 minutes on refills, and at a table of kids that can be deadly. We almost took hostages. Our waitress meandered around at a pace that would put my grandma in the Olympics. It was like she was avoiding us. And she could if she wanted because.... AUTOMATIC GRATUITY was included on parties of 8 or more. I have always despised automatic gratuity, and WORSE the bill says "Service Charge" instead of "tip for slow service" What does that mean? Here it means stop moving at a pace that looks like you are trying to EARN your 18% on a $275 bill. I get it. There are some cheap skaggs out there who don't tip. You suck. For real. If you get good service, the server deserves to feel that in their wallet. They get $2.15-$3 an hour, everything else comes off their tips. Don't be cheap. If you don't like to tip, stick to fast food, your royal cheapness. First night we tried this place at the resort. It was nothing really to write home about though. I had the BLT which the honey bacon along with the Texas Goat cheese made it a tangy/sweetness. The drinks tasted off and the highlight or most desired thing was the hummus appetizer. I have visited Shellers multiple times while at the Hyatt for business or with the family. It is a really good spot to grab a drink or an appetizer. It is also a nice place to watch a game because there are a number of TVs with good seating. Additionally, the pool table and shuffle board are free services. Our last night at this fabulous resort, except for the rain me and my wife had a great time. We ate here and it's better than bar food even if technically it is bar food! The ribs we're fall off the bone delicious. Literally fall off the bone. The burger was amazing cooked medium rare very juicy. Yes I said JUICY! The waitress I forget her was very friendly. Several TVs to catch up on sports. The playoffs where on TV got caught watching a couple minutes but in my defense it was the playoffs! Great place! read more

My husband ordered the $15 grass fed burger and asked for grilled jalapeños...40 minutes later, our food arrived and no jalapeños in sight. Another 6 minutes to track down our server and get them. His burger was cold and not worth the $15. Food was just ok, but the two stars is really for the level of service. I asked for coloring pages for the kids when we sat down..our server said, "I'll bring those to you now." However, they never made it to our table. I thought the place was great! We visited Texas last week from the northeast. We stopped in here before checking out of the hotel for some lunch because our flight was later in the day. We got the Salsa and Queso sampler for $9 and it was very good. It came with zesty salsa verde, roasted red salsa and Shiner Bock queso and it was delicious. They give you a good amount of tortilla chips too! We also got the 3 Chicken fajita tacos for $15. The chicken was moist, tender and very flavorful. Loved the soft taco shells. A waiter brought us the tacos but forgot to give us the sides. We let the bartender know and she went right into the kitchen and came out with tiny pots filled with cheddar, cilantro, tomato, onion, lettuce and guacamole. If there was any problem, it was kids in the bar area. We found that to be a bit odd. I know it's a family place but, my husband and I go to a bar to let loose and have a few drinks. We never like it when there's kids running around a bar! Not sure if we'll be in Texas again any time soon but, while there, we both got hooked on Tex Mex food! YUM!! read more

FOOD: 5 stars; SERVICE: 1 1/2 stars We are staying in the area and decided to try one of the eating places at the Hyatt for a change. We decided on Shellers Barrelhouse Bar. The seating is spacious and felt open and airy which we liked. There are several large TVs spaced around the room as well as a pool table and air hockey. There was a splendid view to the grounds and the lake with a lovely sunset. The bar was seat yourself, which we did. The waitress came and took our drink orders, bringing them back fairly quickly. She asked if we were ready to order and then ran off before we could answer or ask any questions. She finally returned after a wait that was much longer than we felt appropriate. She asked if we were ready to order. My husband and I had a Cheeseburger with fries and fish and chips respectively and as soon as the words were out of our mouths she was off without asking if we would like anything else. Each meal was about $15.00. Another waitress came by our table and grabbed our menus (which are located at each of the tables.) As she swept by, she asked, "Would you mind if I took these? Thank you" as she hurried off without looking at us or waiting for an answer. I guess that was considered appropriate. The food arrived hot and done perfectly. It was well presented and there was a LOT of food! Kudos to the kitchen! The waitress followed soon after the arrival of the food to ask if we needed anything else. We did and it was brought in a timely manner. My husband's soft drink was empty but the waitress did not bring a refill or ask if he would like a refill-ever. She then disappeared until it was time to leave when she asked if we needed anything further. I asked for a box for two of my very large pieces of fish. She brought a small plastic cold food box made of clear plastic rather than a hot food box. The box was way too small for the fish which had to be broken up to fit into the box. She also brought the check. And took her time returning taking the time to clear a table and clear the dishes from another couple. We paid cash. She seemed to have a problem making change and when she returned, asked if we had a $10 bill because the change was incorrect. No, we did not have a $10 bill. Perhaps they don't have to deal with cash very much as most people are probably staying at the hotel and just put the meals on their room bill. She had to go back to get change again. When she finally returned, the change was correct and she received a less than average tip for less than average service. So, the food is very good (which would rate 5 stars) but the service was less than average (which I would rate at about a 1 1/2). We won't eat at Shellers again. We certainly expected better service from the Hyatt. read more

I was so disappointed. There are good reviews on here saying this place is good. The service was never around for refills. The chicken tenders we ordered we're still partially frozen. The Mac and cheese was disgusting. It was the box kraft Mac and cheese. I would think that if it was box, you'd at least be able to make it well. The pulled pork sandwich was dry, and we had at add more BBQ sauce. The veggie burger was decent but dry. I don't want to come back again. We're going into Austin to eat tomorrow night. read more
