In a town full of and surrounded by lots of deli's we just got our second catering order from Shelly's Deli (40 minutes away) for a family member's birthday party. We got a 3 foot Vanderbilt Sub which is SO GOOD and I'd recommend it for any catering occasion. We also got an american sub, an italian sub, mac and cheese, roasted veggies, eggplant rollatini, chicken parm and a garden salad. All the foods were loved, many guests went back for seconds and thirds. Everything was on point. Ricky was a pleasure to work with in figuring out what foods we needed & quantities of each. Excellent service and very fair prices. We'll be ordering from here again in the future. read more

The first thing that you notice when you walk into Shelly's is that it's super clean and neat. No crumbs on the table, no spilled sugar on the coffee bar. The next thing you notice is the staff. They're friendly and respectful to regulars and strangers alike. They'll introduce themselves, shake your hand and you'll exchange first names. You always feel like you're their favorite customer. The sandwiches are to die for. Made exactly as you ask and there's no skimping on anything. Their hot specials are homemade and so good that you'll be looking for excuses to bring some home. I was visiting from North Carolina and friends recommended this deli. I was very excited when I ordered my sub an American without the ham. Imagine my surprise when I got back to red Hook and found out my sandwich was turkey and HAM no roast beef. I called to complain on Monday and was told someone would get back to me. I Tuesday I called back and was told again I would get a call back this time the woman called me right back. I was told they were sorry and it was a mistake. My wife has celiac disease so when we travel we are very careful as to where we eat each and every meal. We had breakfast there and were extremely happy to find that Shelly and all her employees understood the complexities in preparing gluten free meals and do everything possible to avoid cross contamination. Our breakfast was excellent in portion, appearance and taste. Plus the list of gluten free sandwiches and other meals that you can get is outstanding! This is a locals residents secret that any/all celiac travelers to the Hudson Valley should be made aware of. I love love love this deli! The salads are always fresh the sandwiches are amazing the girls that work in there are always nice. It's super clean and I never feeling comfortable when I go in there. Although there is a man that works there I think he might be part owner or the owner he's always a bit sassy! I do go in there about once a week and it always seems that he trying to get his point across with one employee or another sometimes I think that should be done in the back room. But I do love their food it's amazing super great and I recommend it to everybody. read more

What an awesome find!!!!Came to Marist from Long Island for a lacrosse game and needed to feed a college team /coaches of 50. Ricky was an amazing help! He made perfect suggestions, worked with our budget and with the temperature of 20 degrees he brought the sandwiches HOT! The team devoured them, especially the chicken cutlet, bacon, cheddar cheese! Great little deli. Sandwiches are really good, better than your typical deli fare, and they have some delicious specialty sandwiches...I recommend the eggplant! Great for breakfast too. Food is much better than some of the other delis in the area. read more

Good food and VERY good service. From my limited experience, it is definitely worth upgrading to a wedge (sub) from a regular sandwich (on a roll or bread). They are open early so you can eat subs (or pancakes or wraps or whatever) for breakfast. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I have found the chicken subs to be the tastiest (compared to turkey and roast beef at least). I plan to try another sub (maybe Vanderbilt??) and a wrap today!! read more

I love this place. Everything you would expect from a local deli. I love their chipotle chicken salad. It's so good! I've also had the grandpa sandwich, roast beef, cole slaw, swiss & thousand island. Yummy. They don't toast the sandwiches unless you ask, so make sure to let them know. (If the owners read this, maybe get your staff to start asking customers?). Sometimes the wait is a little long, so if you're in a rush - call ahead! The employees are all very pleasant. They have a big drink selection and great looking pastries. They also carry milk, eggs and beer - the emergency items! Overall, I always leave this place very satisfied. read more

The food was really delicious, my wife didn't get sick (allergic to wheat), but minus one star because it took 30 minutes to get fries. They were a little disjointed getting the orders taken care of. During the lunch rush they had to turn on the counter-top fryer they used for gluten-free fries before they made our order. In the end, they had really good food and nobody got sick. I'll be back even though it was a little slow. read more
