Presto pesto panini on gluten free bread

We were in the area and wanted to get a quick bite for breakfast. Shelly's was right down the road and it seemed very obvious where we should stop. I wanted a breakfast sandwich and they offer so many gluten free bread options that I was really excited for this meal. I had a simple sausage, egg and cheese on a gf roll. The sandwich was exactly what I was looking for. It reminded me of an easier time before I needed a gluten free diet, when I could just pick up a sandwich from anywhere. It's so nice to have a sense of normalcy and for the food to be absolutely delicious. The food was ready quickly, which was perfect because we had errands to run. It's always a pleasure ordering food from here and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I stopped here to grab a breakfast wrap where the road. I got a piping hot Philly breakfast wrap which has sliced steak, eggs, cheese and peppers for $6.50 plus tax. Since everything is made to order, it took a little bit of time. But well worth the wait. The wrap was delicious! A bit of salsa would have been nice. But since I was driving, probably was better off without it.

Great for a quick take out lunch. Sandwiches are generous and they have a pretty nice drink/chip selection. The fries are crinkle cut fries. We had a Rueben and an Italian sub. Both were great. Rueben wasn't too greasy, which I liked.

    a half eaten sandwich

A coworker got me their italian sandwich. Which i have ordered in the past and was happy with. Todays sandwich i had to open much later because i was trapped in work meetings until the end of the day. I opened the wrapper and much to my shock the sandwich was made with almost no content. I have attached photos with this review to show the issue I really believe paying 7.95 for this on a roll seems upsetting

Thankfully it was today and I loved it! The ambiance is beautiful. Neat. I got to meet the owner's granddaughter Gigi. She was the sweetest. She runs the place. We arrived at the place around 3 pm, and all the baked goods were sold out. We were lucky to try the almond croissant and the chocolate orange biscotti. Both were yummy. We tried their hazelnut coffee and macadamia nut coffee - both were great. I can't wait to come back to try more baked goodies.

The two times I went, there were a few patrons with toddlers playing with games/toys making the vibe less conducive for quietly reading or working, FYI. The baristas served not only great tasting coffee, but it looked amazing too! I ordered a drip coffee with oat milk and in my second visit, the cortado. The pastries were fresh looking but most had hazelnut or Nutella in them on the first visit (I'm allergic). They had a new selection of pastries on my second trip but sadly I didn't have any. Nice space that's modern and a great addition to the PK area.

One of the most unique cafes I've been to in recent memories. From the Ground Up, is located deep inside a 55+ senior living townhouse community. It was a little tricky to find driving through the different buildings in the complex. Once we figured it out, we were greated with a very large dining area that was super clean with big windows and plenty of natural light. They have a few cases of baked goods and coffee, as well as weekly specials. One look at the menu and I knew my order. Shakshuka (traditionally African or Middle Eastern) is a dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato sauce with onions, peppers, garlic, chickpeas, and kale served with bread to soak up that wonderful red sauce and egg yolk. At $14, this was a steal. The Rueben and fries were pretty standard and my iced latte was decent. Finished things off with a chocolate chip cookie skillet topped with vanilla ice cream. Had plenty of leftovers to bring home. They do a lot of catering and use the cafe as a home base for their 2 food trucks. The chef is a CIA grad. Seems with the 100s of townhouses, they have a built in customer base. They offer some pretty standard stuff like paninis, waffles, omelettes, and burgers. Next time, I want to try the shepherds pie, fish and chips, or chicken and waffles. #highland #fromthegroundupcafe #shakshuka #coffee #reuben #hveats #hvfoodies #eater #igeats #ulster #hudsonvalley #ulstereateriesunited #cookieskillet #ulstereateriesunfiltered #cafe #townhouses @above_weddings

I figured I would help small business and stop in. There is no parking so you have to do street parking. I lucky parked in the front. The outside of the building is dated and a bit hard to see among the other store fronts. Inside, I noticed the place feels like it's from the past. But it was inviting. The waitress told me grad a seat and she asked if I wanted coffee. After she took my order and took it to throne cook in the restaurant. I noticed a TV on the back wall playing modern music, it was great. After, my meal came and I started to eat. The home fries were different. They used a mix of vegetables I've never seen on home fries, but it worked. I was disappointed the ketchup on my table was empty and when they replaced it, it definitely was not Heinz. The egg was not as big as I thought. They used white cheese and that was fine. It just left me wanting more. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere, but the food didn't move the needle for me. I enjoyed the music, staff, and atmosphere, so those are wins.

We typically visit our favorite diner about twice a week and it never disappoints. We are always greeted with an enthusiastic smile by the manager, who always makes patrons feel special no matter how many people are in attendance. We like that the owner and manager display professional courtesy towards their staff as this is a quality we also look for in the service industry. We are so grateful to have a local diner that we can always rely on and we wish them many years of continued success. Best, the couple in the back!!

While waiting, I noticed another group that stated they were a party of 9 was seated ahead of us, even though there were only 7 people, while we were a party of 6, including children. That left me confused and frustrated, especially since we had called ahead and were patiently waiting our turn. I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I can't speak to why the wait list was handled the way it was, but the experience made me feel that we were treated unfairly. I used to come to this diner often, and because of this experience, I will not be returning. More importantly, I hope no other family has to leave feeling the way we did today. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day with my family ended in frustration and disappointment. Thank you for ruining what should have been a meaningful day.
