In my honest opinion, Sheng Kee is a much better bakery than the previous one that used to be in this location, Kee Wah. As soon as I walked in, I saw a huge variety of baked goods on display, and everything looked fresh and smelled inviting. My parents recommended that I try their Sponge Rolls, so I picked up a few different flavors. I tried the Strawberry, Mocha, and Matcha Red Bean Sponge Rolls, and every single one was absolutely fantastic. One thing that really sets these apart from the Swiss Rolls I've had elsewhere is that the sponge cake is actually a little denser, but in a really nice and pleasant way. It gives each bite a bit more substance without feeling heavy. I also noticed that the cream filling seemed to have just a hint of salt, which balanced the sweetness of the cake extremely well. It ended up being super duper delicious. I'd definitely buy these again. In fact, next time I might just get a whole roll instead of buying individual slices. I also tried their Portuguese Egg Tart, and man oh man, was it good. The filling was almost liquid in the center, making it incredibly creamy, rich, and eggy. It was such an indulgent treat, and I'd absolutely get it again. read more

I've been coming here almost weekly for one thing: Vanilla Swiss Roll. One of my ultimate favorites that was only sold in certain Ranch Markets in the area. Now I can come here. DD loves their Black Sesame Bun, Red Bean Mochi Bun, and their puddings in the chilled fridge section. Still haven't gotten my hands on their coconut toast as it's always sold out. I honestly adore this spot! After every meal at Ulferts Plaza, Sheng Kee is always our favorite bakery. We're always delighted by their freshly baked Asian pastries. It's so wonderful to share our heritage with the kids through these treats--they truly enjoy them. Offerings (Taiwanese): sweet & savory bakes & pastries, cakes, mooncakes, cookies, buns, breads, egg custards.. Drill: grab a tong & tray. Grab what u like & pay at counter. All items priced & labeled. Goods delivered daily from offsite location. Short line. Paid & left. More parking in back. Center area lacks adequate parking. Bites: chocolate walnut cookie (5.95) -dozen-ish baked cookies in bag. Crunchy, sweet, chocolate-ish, addictive. Stays fresh for days. Green onion pork sung bun (2.90) -wrapped in baked golden flatbread, had generous amounts of pork sung( shredded jerky like meat) and green onions on top. -great for snack anytime. 4.5 stars service, quality, quantity very good. I love Asian Bakeries and Sheng Kee is one of my new favorites! Their interior is bright, clean and packed full of delicious things. I like trying their different buns, they have both savory and sweet ones. One of my favorites is a ham, cheese, and egg bun which is like a Chinese breakfast sando. Highly recommended! You also cannot go wrong with their light semi sweet cakes, they are my favorite. Service was great, they provided me a pack of small plates, candles, and a plastic pastry server which can double as a knife. Handy if you're on the go! They also have their sliced egg bread that they also sell at 99 Ranch that is super delicious, and makes great toast. read more

I happened to ordering lunch nearby and found out this place is opened. It doesn't have any advertising about the store opening. The owner looks like the same as the Kee Wah before, not 100% sure though. The free red envelope for $20 purchase is all gone by the time we visit. The pastries and bread are typical. They probably made in a central kitchen. Happy to have another option here. We will come back later. I wish they offer drinks like other Sheng Kee locations. read more

I was sad that Kee Wah Bakery closed, but was surprised Sheng Kee replaced it. What's available is pretty similar though a little different at the same time. There isn't the variety of mooncakes and such, but I found they have the HK ham and egg bun that I used to get as kid. I was very excited that there was an assortment of jellies in pretty jars: coffee, strawberry, almond and etc. Stopping by around 8am in the morning, there were some items out. The staff were working in the back getting buns and such packaged, it smelled amazing getting it. I was looking for a hot dog bun, asked an auntie if they had anything - she said not quite yet, but offered me a fresh bbq pork bun. It smelled amazing, so why not. As I was checking out with my order getting boxed up, she came up with a super fresh and steaming hot dog bun asking if I still wanted one... 100% yes! Everything was still fresh and warm when I brought it to my friend's shop about 20mins later. I grabbed a bunch of egg tarts as that's what everyone was craving- the egg custard was smooth and light, but flavor was very light that the pastry crust completely overpowered it (felt very off balance in flavor). Seems to be a mix of Cantonese and Mandarin as I flipped between both with different aunties behind the counter - English with my bf :) Final Thoughts: I'm so back here for jelly puddings and buns for sure, still got to try other items to see what I like and such from here. read more

As a long-time fan of their other Bay Area spots, I was curious to see how this new one measured up, and it didn't disappoint. This a new Chinese bakery store that replaces Kee Wah bakery that closed down in November 2025 . The inside setting looks the same like before because they are similar types of business . The staffs in Kee Wah were cheerful and polite . Today I went in and met one middle age Chinese lady . She has been rude the whole time . One of the register is being fixed so that have one register open . Me and my family member both want to make a new purchase. She tells us that we have to wait 2 minutes because her working register was tied by ringing up most of the bakery items for a lady customer inside . She had rang and bagged like 20 plus items already . We wait a while and she go to talk to the lady customer to ask her to hurry . The lady customer tells us that she is still Looking . She is not done yet and she wants certain bakery in certain boxes . She is making a huge purchase and she only wants the staff woman to hold her items and wait for her to finish the shopping. However , the woman staff is very rude. She ignores me and the lady customer s request and does it her way ! I am giving two stars . Even I help explaining to her what the lady customer wants in Chinese . Lady staff insisted she is correct . No apologies and she pushes the lady customer to pay before she is done shopping. I miss the Kee Wah employees from past years. They were cheerful , patient and customer oriented . She made me waited for a long time to make purchase of two items . She put away the lady customer Bakerys all inside two big bags and ignored her request to have a few boxes . Last customer was not done shopping and the staff lady push her to pay . At the end the last customer asks for 4 boxes and repack her order at the counter . She says it more than once : " So rude ! I am not coming back . I went there on 2/14 after dinner at the plaza. The Napoleon patties are regular taste ( not many cream and not much nuts) and $3.85 each. The walnut cookie ( big ) is $2.75 and tastes ok good. The caramel egg custard puddings are not very good ( just sweet). I went there again in the late February and bought some hot pastries (curry puff , chicken pie , Chasu pork puff). I like the Chasu pork puff pastry and chicken pie pastry. read more

this place took over the spot where the old kee wah bakery used to be. all in all, pretty disappointing. the food quality wasn't great (and not cheap either for what it is), and the lady at the counter wasn't exactly friendly. there aren't a whole lot of bakery options around, but still probably wouldn't come back read more

The bakery was clean, not very busy, and the staff was friendly. We purchased four different pastries to try, but unfortunately none of them met our expectations. The sponge cake was overly sweet, the custard lacked flavor, and the cheesecake was much denser than we prefer. The cream puffs were the most disappointing the pastry was quite dry, and while the cream filling was acceptable, it wasn't particularly memorable. Overall, the experience didn't leave a strong impression, and we likely would not return. read more
