Would be more than happy to come back to any Lees location to try their banh mi including the BBQ Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, or Shredded Chicken. I noticed you could also do any Banh Mi as a bowl too! They also have brekky sandwiches served on a baguette or croissant, appetizers, soups, tea/smoothies/other drink options, and more. I loooooove Lee's Sandwiches Viet iced coffee T-T I grew up frequenting their locations in San Jose, so maybe there's also a nostalgia factor to it. I haven't ordered a sandwich from here in a long time, so this review is just for the coffee LOL Banana Cream Coffee (small $7.50): I do not dare get a large no matter what kind of day I'm having, so I cannot speak to the price of a large size. I heard about Lee's coming out with Biscoff and Banana Cream flavors, so I was excited to try. Goodness me I was not expecting slices of banana and a Nilla wafer topping off my drink!! I've had Lee's Sandwiches plenty of times back when I lived in the South Bay. I'm Vietnamese and Lee's is kind of like McDonald's for us. It's not the best banh mi but it usually gets the job done when you're craving one. This location is much smaller compared to other Lee's I've been to. I ordered the vegetarian bì chay banh mi with shredded fried tofu, taro, and veggies, which is usually my go to when I want a vegetarian sandwich. I haven't had Lee's in a long time since there are so many better banh mi spots now, and this visit reminded me why. The biggest issue is the bread. Vietnamese baguettes are supposed to be slightly crisp on the outside but light and airy on the inside. The bread here was really dense and chewy and tasted doughy. Lee's bread has never been great in my opinion. At other locations it's usually too dense and overly hard to the point it scrapes the roof of your mouth. This one was just bad in a different way. It was heavy and doughy without that light texture you expect. The filling itself was fine and the mayo was good, but the bread really ruined the sandwich. I had an interesting experience here! I decided to try the Vietnamese iced coffee with extra ice. I don't usually drink coffee, but I thought the extra ice would make it lighter. OMG -- it was so strong! I was completely wired and didn't feel great for the rest of the day. Definitely too strong for me, but I have to admit it had a really nice flavor. I also ordered the pork, shrimp, and taro roll, which was absolutely delicious. The texture and flavor were spot on, and it paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce. Love Lee's caramelized beef banh mi sandwich. Had picked up a sandwich to take to the park, even after a couple hours and cold it was still delicious. Also picked up an order of the deep fried sesame, mung bean balls that were super crunchy and yummy along with an order of the pork egg rolls. When you walk in, there's a selection of hot goods in a counter display and usually they have to go food on the counter but today they didn't. Too bad we don't have a Lee's the valley. read more

Worst Lee's ever. I understand this is a chain restaurant, but by far in the Bay Area, this has to be the worst Lee's sandwich. Tbh, this shouldn't even be called Lees. I was so excited when I saw a lees opening in the tri valley, but only to be disappointed by the quality of food and ingredients. The sandwiches are subpar at best. Now when I crave for a banh mi, I go next store for a bagel. You may ask, but a bagel isn't a banh mi, correct , bc lees here is that terrible, I'd rather choose something else. Feedback to owner, if your original vision was to bring lees to the tri valley, then please at least have some standards and bring some authenticity and quality in the food, so it's in standard to what other more authentic Lee's sandwich are serving. read more

I hadn't been to this Lee's Sandwiches location in almost two years. I remember when Lee's was only in San Jose, so I had higher expectations coming back. The service and ambiance were just okay. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the spring rolls. They were tasteless, and the peanut sauce was horrible--it looked, felt, and tasted old. That alone ruined the experience for me. We've been here before and also catered from them before. Our experiences with food quality is pretty consistent. My significant other likes their sandwiches a lot but I really like their bowls. We got the grilled pork bowl and the portobello bowl the other day. Both were generous servings. Even though portobello stir-fry can sound a bit plain, this dish was packed with flavor! We also like their grilled pork sausage sandwiches too. For catering orders, we really appreciate how easy it was to communicate with the owner, and that the staff went the extra mile to wrap each half sandwich so that our guests could try different half sandwiches and also not they needed to eat whole sandwich if they could only eat half. Pickup was also super easy-we paid in advance and the order was ready for pick up day of the event. Would definitely consider catering from them again. Service is generally efficient. It can get messy and bread crumbs get every where. Cafe sua da is always good and strong. Wished their cha lua banh mi came with pate instead of it being an add on compared to other spots. The pork egg rolls are fresh and crispy. Have tons of filling in them. Overall a good spot if you're craving banh mi but there are better options in the area. Pricing is a bit high though. read more

Stopped by looking for some Vietnamese goodies since the other locations in San Jose had lots of authentic snacks for sale on the counters. This location was more Americanized with an extensive menu for different types of sandwiches and appetizers, even drinks! Their pork meat pies are my favorite. Love the bbq pork/pork bahn mi. The bread is how I like it, good crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Pork is very flavorful.

Originally I was a bit sad that I wasn't able to get Chè ba màu or other desserts you'd see at a Lee's in the South Bay and others. This Lee's is a little different compared to what I'm used to, where you walk in to shop a little to grab some premade items (from the fridge or counter) or order off the menu. It is a fairly small place and I've only come here on off hours, thankfully never had to deal with much of a line. Service is pretty quick here, does get pretty warm in the summer though as the place is relatively small. It's more a good grab n go place. There is one kiosk to order or someone can take your order at the counter. So to preface this, I am not really affected by caffeine. I can have a energy drink (200mg) or a strong espresso and still go to sleep pretty quickly afterwards... Coming here yesterday, I just wanted a Cà Phê Sữa Đá (iced coffee) as a pick me up when I noticed that there was an option for 'HULK'. Both my bf and I laughed at that because nothing has ever really bothered me before. I've gotten an 8 shot espresso drink from Starbucks before and was fine (yes, it's not the best for me but it's yummy) - nothing has bothered me since I've started drinking caffeinated stuff over a decade ago. What's the worst that could happen right? I honestly have no idea how many shots or what's in this 'HULK' iced coffee... but this is the first time I've actually felt the caffeine working - it's magical. This almost makes up for the fact that I can't get any Chè desserts here!! As for food, I usually order a container of savory sticky rice with chicken and Chinese sausage with a side order of a meatball skewer- my go to for this specific Lee's. Yesterday, my bf also got a #6 - bánh mì with bbq pork. The rice and chicken/sausage always very hearty and I never had a complaint, as well as the skewer. As for the bánh mì, the bbq pork was pretty dry and a bit tough; the sandwich being filled generously did help with it all together... but I don't think I'd want another bbq pork one from here, I'd try another filling. Final Thoughts: The iced coffee - HULK. I can't get over how strong this is, I'm dead curious how many shots or what's in it (with condensed milk). I'll be raving and sharing about this super strong drink and stick to my normal order from here. read more
