We were attending an event on the beach and came here to grab a sandwich and a coffee before returning there. There was one table of I believe 5 that had been here long before we arrived, one table of 2 and another person seated by herself and aside from them, this place was mostly empty both inside and out. We ordered and had a seat at a table for 2 out front, our coffee was brought to us a few minutes later and the guy explained that the 2 sandwiches we ordered were on the way. Shortly after, the larger table of 5 nearby was served. And then we waited, and waited. After waiting for about 20 minutes for our food and noting that the 3 other patrons here who were seated before us had still not been served, I went inside to inquire and was told it'd be about another 10 minutes. I noted they had 2 baristas working, 2 ladies working near the stand where one finds the sugar, creamer and other condiments and at least one person back in the food prep area, so they seemed to have plenty of staff on this day. After sitting there for at least another 20 minutes, we requested a refund and left. 45 minutes' wait for 2 relatively simple sandwiches that were listed on their menu, at a place that was fully staffed and really wasn't busy, is insane. 10 minutes I can accept. 15 minutes maybe, but 45 minutes is well beyond acceptable. The fact that they readily issued a refund tells me that they hadn't even yet started to prepare our food at that point, or their reaction most likely would have been "We have your order ready, we can bring it to you now if you'd like", but we got no such comment. I did give them an extra star as the staff were friendly and the coffee we had was good. read more

Don't come here unless you want an average testing coffee that cost you a fortune. Disregard their menu on pictures. Lactose intolerant? Need milk replacement? At first glance this spot is adorable and I so badly wanted to love it. The staff was attentive and on their game. To be transparent I am only basing this score off of their Latte's as that's all I ordered, the food menu looked amazing. I should have listened to my Redditing boyfriend that told me Miami cannot do lattes, and to stick with Cuban coffee for caffeine needs. I ended up spending $20 on two large lattes bc they were so weak and I felt like all I was drinking was warm milk, so I asked for another shot and additional syrup (fyi - Monin brand - ehh, just fine), which added to the cost $4.15 just to make it tolerable. I then had to add more ice back at the hotel. Idk what it is with Miami and espresso machines/lattes, they need an upgrade and sadly this spot too. Came here in the early morning for a Latte, while visiting Miami. I was a bit surprised that they dont make a Flat white, or have whole milk.... so I ordered a latte, as they make it, to stay. They have seats out in front of the shop, where you can drink your coffee and watch the people and traffic go by on Collins Ave. The coffee was really good and the service was very friendly. After a morning stroll along the Boardwalk, made a beeline to Shepherd based on the Yelp reviews. Stepped up to the counter and I ordered s cappuccino and croissant. They have indoor and outdoor seating; we opted to sit outside and it's shaded. This section of Collins is some great people watching, and not as loud and busy as Ocean. My cappuccino was spot on (I hadn't had a good cappuccino in days, so this was perfect). And the croissant was flakey and fresh. I feel that Shepherd Artisan Coffee ... or least the one I went to.. which is this location is a bit overrated. I like my matcha lattes to not already have sugar in the dry mix ( the matcha powder ) to begin with. I feel that .. well ..I know, if you were to speak in purist terms. Matcha with milk is a travesty in purists terms .. it's supposed to be with water only and definitely NO sugar. So I break all the rules by having my matcha with oat milk and then putting agave or something similar in it. But even for me, a non-purist matcha tea drinker.. I do NOT and DO NOT agree with pre-sweetening your coffee or tea before receiving it. It should be up to the consumer of the coffee / tea ... exactly how sweetener should be added and how much. So for every coffee shop that pre sweetens their beverages is no longer a pure coffee shop anymore in my book but rather a provider of desert drinks. read more

We got avocado toast and breakfast something combo for food. It was alright, nothing really special. I guess it's more of a coffee place than eating place.
