Got denied admission due to my beach attire. Business casual enforced if you got dark skin

Moldy Filthy Tourist Trap. We booked to stay two nights at the "Versace" mansion for our wedding anniversary after my sister-in-law recommended it based off of her stay there around five years ago. We normally stay at Four Seasons hotels or the Nobu/Faena when in Miami. (We are experienced travellers). Prior to arrival we attempted to call the hotel numerous times. Each time we would be on hold for over 45 minutes then just hang up. We sent an email to the hotel asking them to call us, which they never responded to or did. (The hotel lacks service). Upon arrival we pulled up at their valet stand that is three blocks from the hotel. The valet told us the bell boy would be five minutes. Five minutes passed and he said this again & said it was normal for them to make guest checking into the hotel wait. Eventually 30 minutes passed of us sitting in our car waiting and we just carried our own bags for the 10 minute walk to the front of the hotel from valet (horrible & unorganized check-in). Once at the hotel we noticed how dirty & in disrepair the stair cases & hallways of the building are. Then we were put into a dirty, moldy, damaged bedroom. You can look at the room photos and judge for yourself. We immediately told the front desk we would rather just be refunded & checkout. The front desk person said that the manager would be in the next morning and they couldn't authorize that. The room was advertised as pool view but there was no view of anything through our cracked windows. The air conditioning in the room could only be turned on at 62° or shut off. The bedding was very damp from the A/C situation. (Dirty damaged moldy rooms that are falsely advertised). Prior to dinner on our first night we tried to take a nap, but the noise from the restaurant is so loud it wasn't possible. Getting ready for the evening was very difficult because the only light in the room is the cheap nightstand lights. (Very dark rooms with no lights at night). We went to the hotel bar to get a drink. We waited for a waiter for 20 minutes and then decided to leave. We went to sexy fish for dinner then to the Faena living room. We came back and went to sleep. (Horrible service). At 8:30am in the morning, we were awaken by drilling & hammering in the hallway. This noise was so loud you could hear it from outside the hotel and on the street. I took a video of this noise from bed as evidence because I could not believe what we were experiencing. (Very loud hotel construction! Unable to sleep at this "hotel"). We decided to get up and go for breakfast. We asked the front desk again for the manager that they said the night before would be in that morning. After an hour the front desk manager showed up and said nobody knew where the general manager was, but there was nothing they could do other than to change our room. We didn't want to repack and unpack all of our things after everything the hotel put us through. The drilling noise was so loud you could hear it at breakfast and we were certain you'd be able to hear it in another room(No accountability or willingness to help by any staff members). The breakfast was not as advertised. They serve croissants and bread from Costco. I got a medium rare steak, which came out still with blood on it. I politely pointed it out to them so they reheated it again. During breakfast we watched about 40 wait staff prepare the pool area for lunch. (Horrible breakfast food & atmosphere). The pool is damaged and surrounded by over 100 tables that are jampacked with people having lunch and watching you swim during the day. (Not as advertised or relaxing). We left after one night of torture and they would not refund us for our second night but we could not stay in the conditions regardless. I'm surprised that the city of Miami even allows the hotel to remain open. It is filthy and unsafe.

The most outstandingly beautiful experience I've enjoyed for some time, dining @giannisatthevilla! Sitting off the corner of the pool, we were perfectly positioned to view all the well-dressed, high-heeled patrons enjoyed what for us became the most delicious, visually appealing meal!! Our entire dining experience would not have been complete without the outstanding service and conversation from our server, Ruben @tintin33chino! Hope to visit again soon!

We stayed here for my husband's birthday. It was a very special place and everyone was very welcoming. The place is absolutely beautiful from the floors to the tile work and the pool is fabulous. You do need to walk up a few flights of stairs for your room but that was ok. We plan on visiting again soon

Review from a local: I could write something really long but I'll summarize it to my best without going on and on. *tourist trap: it's beautiful but it's nothing special. Food was nothing special, service was nothing special NOR fine dining by no means. For the vacationers I was with they were sweating as there is no a/c it pretty much all open doors, open Terrance and hot. It's Florida.... The A/c they did have the vents were dripping on our table and nobody seemed to care. They did not come to check on our table, did not cleared our table before serving us more food or offer to move our table. $790 for 8 people and I have nothing really nice to say other than it was beautiful. I being a local expected much more but now am thankful for the experience to not come back. HUGE TIP: do not sit by the pool, everyone crowds there for their photos and you are sitting in a crowd of people.

The Villa Casa Casuarina room and service was amazing. We stayed for three nights in the medallion room. Beautiful room, amazing staff. We walked up to the Villa early about 2pm and a guy ran up to us to take our oversized luggage. We were checked in early and quickly escorted to our room. During our stay we had dinner there which was great, waiter Pedro gave great dinne service. You get free breakfast every morning, and these aren't just continental breakfasts, I'm talking steak and eggs, eggs Florentine, French toast, sausage, bacon, fruit platters..the list goes on. As a guest of the Villa you can get in the pool or sit poolside on their lounge chairs, until 5pm, whilst lunch patrons can't. We had so many severs treat us so well throughout and everyone remembered us. I will be going back at least once a year for a great and memorable vacation ..

If you make a reservation you're good. It might still take a few minutes to be seated but ehhh. This is my second time coming to Versace mansion. I've booked reservations both times and had to wait 30 mins to be seated. The food was good, the service was fast; however, it felt like our waitress was being "fake nice" and rushing us. She would come by Bach go back to the point where it felt like I was being pressured, so I would say "I'm taking my time and enjoying." The food was delicious and drinks were good. The price was reasonable, but more on the high end. It is Versace mansion so to expect... but again the food was delicious! The portions are fairly small. The wine and cocktail list is long, but overpriced (like most places). There's multiple bars you can hangout around while waiting for your seat. The desert was delicious!

My friends really wanted to visit the mansion and try the food while we were visiting Miami. We made sure to make reservations at least a month in advice which they do not seat us until the whole party was present. As expected, this was a tourist experience. The appetizers were mediocre requiring us to ask for balsamic for the burrata and tomato plate. The sea bass was dry and small. I enjoyed the shrimp and and lobster but the pasta was definitely subpar. If you're looking to update your social media page with a pretty picture, then this is a place to be. However, do not expect the food to knock you out of the park. I would not come back since I experienced it once already.

Replacement Hotel Management!!!!! Someone help this property! Don't stay here! Beware We did not receive the services or amenities they presented. When we first arrived at the Casa Villa we were stopped with our luggage at the gate accosted as though we were vagrants coming in ofc the street. It wasn't until we were greeted at the door by the concierge that they left us alone. After being checked in as VIPs, they escorted us to our room never offering to carry our luggage. After we walked through the dining area carrying our bags I almost fell going up the spiral stair case to our room. The room was located right above the kitchen and part of the main dining room, it was very loud and as soon as you walked in you could feel the heat settling in the air. My spouse turned the air conditioner down to 69 in the hopes that it would cool the interior while we stepped out for an day of shopping. After an day spent out in the Miami sun we came back to our room to find our luggage moved and the room still rather uncomfortably hot. My spouse decided to cool off in the jetted tub, which we found the jets did not work. We called to the front desk and asked if we could speak with someone about the air. The girl at the front desk informed us that they would be sending someone up to look at our air conditioner. They sent a kind gentleman that did not speak or understand English (not a problem except we couldn't explain to him what was going on). Finally after 30 minutes of gestures and Spanglish he left smiling. We called back down to the front desk and let her know the issue was still not resolved and asked to please speak with a manager. She informed us the manager was out of country for vacation and no one there to help. They sent another person that could speak Spanish. After about 20 minutes the gentleman and another young lady came to look at the problem. While on the phone with someone who insisted the tub didn't have jets even though we were all looking at them and that the air conditioning in the room couldn't keep up with temperature outside. The young lady told us that if we could close off the bathroom to possibly cool the room however we spent over 900 on the room we were put in and felt the issues should be resolved. The gentleman gestured to some kind of temperature gage he had held directly over the air vent showing the output was 69 degrees even though the thermostat read 83 degrees in the room. We were at this point running behind on our reservation for dinner at the hotel restaurant by the famous Versace Pool. So we called the front desk yet again and let her know what was going on and that it still wasn't cooling. After an exceptional dinner with fantastic service, the manager at the restaurant had done a great job. We stepped out for cocktails at some local bars and when we came back we arrived to a stifling room thermostat and air reading and feeling 82 degrees. My spouse yet again now went down to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager again who was still not available. At this point the girl at the front came with my spouse and some assistant to escort us to another suite of rooms. Yet again. We carried our luggage through the crowded dining room up three flights of stairs to another room. The lady told my husband she was surprised that we were staying in that room that we were originally in. She said we always have problems with the air on hot days. As soon as we opened the doors to the new room we were greeted by fresh cool air. We thanked the girl from the front and set our luggage down and settled into our room at 11pm at night. Why did it take this long to get moved to a different room or why was we put in the room with the horrible AC? Also why is no one in charge to help me??? After a long day of unbearable heat from both the Miami streets and the sauna they called "the mosaic room". We decided to watch some tv however the tv in the new room was not working. At this point is was to late in the evening to concern ourselves with that issue we chose to just sleep. After waking early we went down to the dining area to have our breakfast. We were served very well and informed if we would like to swim the pool was ready for us. We quickly changed and went down to the famous pool. It was disgusting to say the least after getting in we were greeted by a rubber glove floating around, a copious amount of bird feathers, human hair and a complementary menu from the restaurant. The pool was more like swimming in a decorative fountain.

The atmosphere is beautiful and amazing for taking pictures. I would absolutely NEVER recommend the food. The food was horrible. The lemon drops were decent. Recommend 10/10 for PICTURES ONLY

What a joy to have stayed here. My husband and I stayed in the Mosaic room for 3 nights. That was plenty to explore the area, eat and indulge. Upon arrival once you get past the initial gatekeepers you are given a room key and your luggage is taken to your room. Navigating the mansion is such a treat cause you get to be in the mix apart from the busy common areas. This was out of our comfort zone considering the room type but was a very welcomed experience. Winding staircase from the bathroom to the room, balcony, huge space overall, absolute eye candy to just look at and do not get me started on those comfy sheets. While I'm here let's give a nod to housekeeping. Daily when we would leave, without fail the room was cleaned no matter we were done one or 5 hours (still don't know how they pulled it off so conveniently) . Once the staff was familiar it made the stay even more comfy as you just move about the space and explore the hidden books that are all painted and decorated. At night it felt like you were asleep and there was a party downstairs, it was a total vibe. The noise made you feel in the mix but wasn't loud enough to prevent rest. Staying here was an experience I look forward to referencing to anyone who will listen. Tip- as guests of the Villa we got a discount on dinner at Giannis ! Valet on standby for when you need your car.

RESTURANT - Gianni's! Versace is only just the name. Don't expect that your dining experience will be resemble the Versace aesthetic. Interior does not reflect on the Versace style. Pictures on the internet, the pool is very well lit up with colorful lights- that's not the case in reality.Traveling 3k+ miles...upon arrival I was unimpressed, but didn't let that get in my head .Dining "experience" starts with the unpleasant hostess expressing to me that my table will be given away to another party (during my reservation time) if the last 2 people will be late. My reservation was at 6:45, the other 2 guests came at 6:50 ... 5 minutes late. Upscale restaurants do have a 15 minute grace period for a table. Came to restaurant 15 minutes before reserved time-expected a table to be already waiting for us. The 2 other guests came at 6:50 and the hostess tells me that she had gave away my table and now we will have to wait until another table is done for us but she cannot tell me what time we will be seated. You make a reservation and if at that EXACT time everyone in the party isn't there...your table will be given away without second thought. After going back and forth with her, she lead us to a table. I could sense the hostess had an attitude towards me for asking her a couple of questions. Hostess's lack of knowledge about the restaurant's floor defects/ issues , ended up with me falling and scraping my forearm. Little to no remorse or a simple "are you okay" was yet to come from the hostess who proceeded to look back and ignore the fact that a guest had slipped. No matter injury big or small, a warning to all guests should've been addressed if there's a caution to watch out for. Addressed to hostess that she should've informed me there was a defect in the floor, hostess proceeded to ignore me. Hostess led my group to a secluded table in the back of the restaurant , I'm assuming as an act to show her pettiness. Slapping menus onto each plate, she had given a table to us with the expression on her face as in "here's a table, shut up". Table completely lacked a luxury dining feeling, stained tablecloth and had an appearance as it's not been cleaned off from previous party. Once more, expressed my concerns to why the other party was seated at MY table and now we got sat in a room completely away from the restaurant scene. Hostess rolled eyes and said she will get the manager for us. Well in my opinion, a manager of a "high quality" restaurant should be able to address and resolve my concerns in a manner way. WRONG! Manager (baldy man) had came up to our table and began talking in an audacious manner to the men in my group basically stating "if you don't like this table, you can go outside and continue waiting ". Ok.... So reservation initially was at 6:45... now it was 7:30ish. They wanted me to wait more???? 45+ minutes just to be seated? Leaving us with no option but to wait more OR be seated completely away from the resturant. We didn't come to Versace to sit at in an empty room facing a corner. At the end,(after once more waiting) manager was able to figure out a way to seat us outside which was appreciated but the tone in which everything was being handled was extremely unprofessional. All about the service made it seem as I was just a pain (in you know where) and their whole purpose was for me just to leave. Manager had left me with a General Liability Incident Report to fill out. He had interrupted my dinner and was waiting for me to fill it out. I had told him " I'm sorry... I'm not filling out an entire report in the middle of my dinner!" At the end of the dinner, the manager was waiting for me by the door and proceeded to snatch the paper out of my hands , raising his voice at me saying that's his paper. That's not your paper nor your property! If anything, it is my paper and property just as it's yours since it's involving myself. As a customer, I am OBLIGATED to have a moment to read what I am signing and filling out. During dinner with loved ones , is most certain not an appropriate time at all. I'm not at a business meeting to be filling out paperwork at the table. Completely out of etiquette! I was totally willing to fill out the document and mail it back. Manager did not let me even have a copy of the "document". Again, I understand he wants to cover himself but he crossed the radar at this point. Food mediocre- lacks presentation (pasta was slapped onto the plate- kind of like at your elementary school cafeteria) Food barely reaching a 5/10. Be advised if you come here, prepare to fully keep your mouth closed and nod your head to everything , if you'd like good service. Say a word and they will ON PURPOSE throw attitude to any concern you shall have

    Lauren S.

Expensive, small portions, and loud Let me start with the menu prices....starting in the upper 20s for some pasta plus a service change and included tip (then being asked to tip more) don't expect even a small salad to be cheap. Portions are small meaning come not very hungry or be prepared to eat two meals. Appetizer was meh, taste of the actual food was fine but this place is definitely the atmosphere and not about the food. The best thing we ate probably was the dessert. If you are expecting a romantic evening forget it. The entire place is loud and people will be taking pictures and videos the entire night so if you like people watching then that's a plus! Also if you sit inside bring a coat it was blowing the entire dinner and we were cold despite it being mid 80s outside.

The Villa Casa Casuarina Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Villa Casa Casuarina

Can we just come to sit by the pool for drinks? And do they offer afternoon tea also by the pool / courtyard?

Hi ! No. The pool is reserved for hotel guests only. You can sit at a table there during dinner or lunch.

I'm here on vacation and I didn't pack any nice clothes. Are shorts and T-shirt okay to wear for a late lunch?

I'd say no. The place is upscale fancy. It's a fashion designer's house. Or was. I think you should dress casual chíck.

Can you go to the restaurant just for dessert? I cant get a reservation before 10pm and definitely don't want to eat a meal that late lol

    Yes you can.

Is this hotel and restaurant wheelchair accessible?

No, full of stairs. No Ramps in the front

Does booking a suite come with automatic restaurant reservation, or are they separate?

They are separate but guests of hotel have no problem getting in. We made are reservations when we arrived.

Does this place have a bar? I want to make reservations for a night out for drinks with some friends.

Yes and it's very intimate. The bartender, Juan, makes fantastic drinks.

My gf and I stopped through here on our way out before boarding our flights later in the afternoon. If you're toting your luggage and not a hotel guest, you will have to find another hotel to store your luggage while enjoying this most decadent brunch experience. Luckily we arrived early enough to our reservations to sort that out. Reservations are a must if you don't want to wait. The restaurant is gorgeous with various spaces designed differently but keeps to the exotic Asian theme. Dining in the atrium near the water feature in the middle with stage for the musicians is where we had our experience. Olga was our server. She brought us our special beverages not available at the bar: Bloody Mary's and endless bubbly in our glasses The offerings here are more than I can name, but there is something to satisfy every craving. The favorite for me is the caviar bar. It comes with all the proper fixings on a blini with Crème fraîche. Do you need a vodka shot to go with? Yes, that's also available also at the caviar station. Fresh raw oysters, clams or shrimp cocktail is available in abundance with everything else here. The ceviche was great. I passed on all the various noodles but had to have some lamb curry and basmati rice- delicious! I had some Peking Duck and leg of lamb at the meat station. The filet mignon and lamb chops was ordered and brought to the table. The leg of lamb and filet were slightly dry but still good. The lamb chops with chimichurri sauce was amazing- nuances of vibrant flavors. Assorted fresh fruits were a colorful collection of enticements. I saw some papaya and enjoyed its fresh, sweet juiciness. I am not a dessert person but had to try the key like pie. Then of course, the matcha dessert is a sitting temptation next to the pie. So, my dessert spoils were more than intended. What the hell right? Lol That was the sweet ending to my Setai brunch. There was so much more such as bread, fried stuff, eggs, bagel station, toast etc. One can only eat so much. I stuck to enjoying my favorites. The experience is pricey but so worth it. It is truly the best brunch experience I've ever had. - better than Vegas and a cruise ship!! I always have to experience a Setai brunch whenever in Miami!

I got my parking validated BUT we stayed for brunch who also validated our parking but we went over the 4 hours so we got no discount for parking and we were charged the full $35 fee plus tip for the valet. The valet staff was quite nasty telling me we were there too long for the discount BUT each one of those alone qualified for a discounted valet. You can not do both in the 4 hour window.

Our attendant was attentive but not hovering, kept the drinks coming, and food came out fast. Everything we ordered was solid -- perfect pool-day food and refreshing cocktails. There is a minimum spend requirement for the cabana, but it was super easy to hit between food and drinks. And considering you're paying for a dedicated space, service, and a prime poolside setup, it felt worth it. Overall, it was the perfect day to unwind and feel a little luxe. I'd definitely book the Ivy cabana again.

The food was very good as well. We enjoyed a complimentary breakfast as part of our hot tub booking, which was a nice bonus and a great way to start the day. One of the highlights of the hotel is the easy beach access from the back. You can simply walk out and reach the beach, and the area feels safe and lively. You'll often see people jogging, exercising, and enjoying the outdoors, which adds to the energetic South Beach vibe. The walk around the area is pleasant, and the overall atmosphere feels fun and relaxed. Overall, the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel is a wonderful place with great service, good food, and a cool beachside vibe. I would definitely recommend it for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Great service with very friendly servers. I started with a cappuccino, which was nicely balanced and great foam. Then I ordered the Local Breakfast. It came with two scrambled eggs, multigrain toast, home fries, and I swapped the meat for avocado. The eggs were nicely cooked, potatoes had great flavor but were a bit cold and very fresh but I imagine freshly made are very solid. The toast was not bad. Avocado was fresh. Good portion and good prices. My friend and I shared a pancake that was pretty good but lacked a bit of flavor but was still enjoyable. I would definitely come back and try other items as they have an all day menu!

5 STARS - Incredible Service at The Local House…read more The Local House is already one of the best spots in Miami Beach -- beautiful atmosphere, great food, and a relaxed coastal vibe -- but what truly takes the experience to the next level is the exceptional service, especially from Ana. Ana is absolutely amazing. She's warm, attentive, and has that rare ability to make you feel genuinely cared for without ever being intrusive. She knows the menu inside and out, gives thoughtful recommendations, and brings such a positive energy that it transforms the whole dining experience. You can tell she really loves what she does. Every time Ana has been our server, we've left happier than when we arrived. If you're visiting The Local House, do yourself a favor and ask for her -- she makes the meal unforgettable. Highly recommend this place, and especially Ana.

After a long day of travel, we received two Prosecco as soon as we checked in and arrived. Our room was upgraded and it was located right across on top of the Naked Taco where the rooftop pool is at. It's perfectly located for anything you want to do, all the good food spots, bars, places, etc. The next day we went straight to the beach and they provide complimentary beach chairs, towels and umbrellas upon request and you just walk yourself to the beach with them. There's nothing like Miami Beach! The water was perfect and it felt so good to just defrost on the sand and dive into the gorgeous turquoise water. After a few hours at the beach, we went back, enjoyed late check out and headed to crunch fitness - which was absolutely worth it! We were able to leave our bags at the front desk while we worked out, grabbed a late lunch, some drinks and then got to come back and enjoy the rooftop pool during happy hour for drinks and snacks until sunset. It was the perfect Miami daycation that we needed!

What we got was an incredible room with a private terrace and a stunning view of South Beach. Anything you care to do is probably walking distance which is great including a park for pets and kids. There is an on location restaurant called LoLo's Surf Cantina that you can order to the beach after 11:00 am. The rooms are small but accommodating. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because the upkeep is moderate. We found serval places with mold, dust, and stains.

I stayed at this Marriott and generally had a good experience, but not quite a four-star one…read more The location is excellent, and the price was reasonable by luxury beachfront South of Fifth standards. The staff were generally friendly, and a few were especially helpful. They handled three packages I had shipped to the hotel efficiently, though there was a sizable per-package fee. Small touches like afternoon boozy gelato samples and a lobby change machine for breaking $20s into $5s were appreciated. Breakfast at Lolo's was decent. My Marriott status included breakfast for two, though the included menu was much shorter than the regular one and the portions were modest. Still, the food was cooked to order, tasted good, and the servers kindly let me order both breakfasts since I was traveling alone. I didn't try the Japanese restaurant on site, but I heard good things and enjoyed the neighborhood restaurants instead, especially La Grande Boucherie. I paid a substantial premium for an oceanfront double room, but I'm not sure I would do that again. The balcony and glass door were fairly small, and the balcony felt boxed in for privacy. Next time I might prefer a cheaper park-side room on a higher floor, which could still offer a nice park and ocean view. The biggest disappointment was the late checkout. My Marriott Platinum Elite status is supposed to include guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, but the hotel would not honor it. Each day I was told to check again later, and in the end they could only offer 1 p.m. That created real scheduling problems, since I had planned around the advertised benefit. With no good place in the hotel to work or take calls after checkout, I ended up going to the airport hours early. The status is supposed to provide a room upgrade, but that wasn't available either. A couple of other issues matched complaints I had seen in recent reviews. One elevator stopped for several minutes with a group of us inside and did not respond to the buttons, which was uncomfortable even though the door eventually opened. I also received a call inviting me downstairs for a "welcome gift," which turned out to be a Marriott Vacation Club sales pitch. That should be presented more honestly. Overall, this was a decent stay and I might return. But given the failure to honor the guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, I would compare other options carefully before booking again.

High ceilings, marble everywhere, and a buzz that tells you you're in the right place. What impressed me most? There's genuinely plenty to do for all ages, which is not something you can say about every Miami resort. Whether you're traveling with kids, teens, adults, or a multigenerational crew, everyone finds their lane here. The pool scene is the heartbeat of the property. Multiple pools, each with its own personality -- family-friendly areas with space to splash, quieter corners for lounging, and the high-energy spots where the music and cocktails flow. Service was dialed in across the board: fast, friendly, and always one step ahead. Rooms were spotless and stylish, with balconies that make you want to order room service just to soak in the view a little longer. Housekeeping kept everything crisp, and every request was met with that effortless "of course" attitude. Dining is another standout. From quick bites to full-on fine dining, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Even the grab-and-go spots felt elevated. And if nightlife is your thing, you don't need to leave the property -- the energy here after dark is pure Miami. But if you're traveling with kids or just want a low-key night, the resort still feels comfortable and accessible. Fontainebleau nails that rare balance of iconic luxury and all-ages fun. It's bold, glamorous, and buzzing in all the right ways, yet still manages to be welcoming and easy to enjoy no matter who you're traveling with. A true Miami classic that continues to deliver. This is a tourist trap extraordinaire. It made me feel like I was paying to be in a place trying to extract from me, not serve me. And yes, I did complain twice to the front staff about these issues - to stony faces and lame excuses that were canned and code for "we don't care." The resort fee is $60/day (which is not made clear on Orbitz, where I booked it), yet when I went in February the pool and all outdoor facilities - which is what the resort fee pays for - closed at 6pm. We were told it closes at "sundown," even though they clearly have outdoor lights for the whole outside facility. Want to swim in the evening or night? Nope. All those pictures with the pool lit up? Not for you. And if you dare to be in the pool at 6:01, there were six staff for every one guest to tell you to get out. Seriously, we got warnings to get out at 10min to 6, 5min to 6, and at 6:00. Why every five minutes? Because a group of staff members were hovering over us, watching and waiting for the moment to kick us out. Very relaxing. You have to wear an armband everywhere you go. Staff are at every door as you go in or out - hotel to pool or pool to beach - monitoring you to produce it. Very relaxing. There is no coffee in the room, forcing you to travel across the whole huge facility (3 towers connected by long walks) to their coffee shop to pay $10 for a cup of coffee each morning. You could walk all the way back to your room, or - like me - you can try to drink it by the pool. But NO! You can't sit by the pool. Those seats and lounges require you to pay a fee, even in February when there was NO ONE there. If you don't want to pay, you can find a free lounge on the outer fringes. And if you try to sit without paying, there are staff to tell you to move immediately. Hovering, as usual. To get a lounge on the beach - in February, low season - we had to get in line to sign up for a chair and then get in a second line of 20-30 people and wait in the hot sun for an available, assigned chair and a staff person to take us there. Grab a chair and relax? Nope. It's a monitored system. When we checked out, the staff told us there were too many rooms to provide a coffee maker in each one. I guess their policy is to assume their guests are stupid.
