So glad we stopped here on one of our last days in Miami. The coffee was the best we had on our trip, and we enjoyed the breakfast foods we had as well. The atmosphere inside is like a small bookshop. The man running the counter (Valentin I think?) was great as well. The food: My banana nut muffin was fresh and delicious, but the real winner was the Ferrero Rocher cake. It was my favorite breakfast item I had all week as it tasted exactly like the chocolate candy we know and love. Get this if you see it in the case! My wifes ham/cheese croissant was fantastic as well. Overall, we loved the atmosphere, the coffee, and the food at this spot. We are thinking of coming back tomorrow! read more

The prices on Yelp are outdated. The 'three egg' Green Breakfast was $19.99, and gluten-free toast was an additional $2.99. Also, there was one scrambled egg on my plate, not three (I'm guessing that's why this place defaults to scrambled eggs; it's hard to skimp on 3 sunny-side ups). Egg prices are very high right now, but $23 for that breakfast was silly. NO CASH payments here. No plastic/no Apple Pay, no food. We prefer to pay cash, so that's another disincentive for us to eat here. The food was mediocre (skip the 'lemonade'; the OJ is not fresh either). The service was remarkably quick, though, and a steady stream of tourists keep this place buzzing. There is plenty of outdoor seating. read more

Went to Miami for summer vacation. And to say the least-- there isn't much cute aesthetically pleasing coffee shops. I found Shepherd Artisan walking from the beach. It is in a good location. However, the baristas were not welcoming, they clearly had friends there. In addition, the drinks were basic and not special at all. This is the kind of place that gets high ratings from tourists who are just having a good time and aren't paying attention. I appreciate the selections, but they need to work on the food and drinks. The rugelach was terrible. I forgive them for trying to pass off Pepperidge Farm cookies as their own because I love the Pepperidge Farm Brussels cookie, but it was totally stale. I saw them make the smoothie. It was 90% ice, with minimal fruit and juice. I came to Miami looking for fresh tropical fruit flavors; what I got was really watered down. I suggest more fruit/juice, add milk and protein powder, less ice. read more

The first time can truly be a wonderful surprise and that's the exact feeling we had after visiting Shepherd's Artisan Coffee. During our mini staycation, this past weekend, we found ourselves driving up and down South Beach, taking in all the scenery had to offer. It was a very busy Saturday afternoon. (Not unusual at all, just unusual for what the world is experiencing right now.) We'd had a long night hanging out and enjoying ourselves and by the time we got down there we needed something sweet, enjoyable and would satisfy our need for more energy. I wanted coffee. LOL. Which, is completely different for me but I do surprise myself at times. I'm so glad we spotted this shop while driving by and were able to find parking in a lot a few feet away from the entrance. After taking a look at their menu I decided to try their iced chai latte. If you like latte's you've got to try this one. It was everything, so delicious, and didn't need a thing added to it. I also ordered a croissant to go with it which was a perfect pair. The croissant was buttery and flaky, just the way i like it. Hubby ordered an iced coffee to which he added some caramel drizzle and a slice of cheesecake to pair. They offer gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, and vegan items. They have an all-day breakfast menu, hot drinks, iced drinks, sandwiches, and salads. The service was fast and friendly and definitely welcoming. read more

I checked in and tried to use my check in discount at the location. The girl said yes okay and then pretended to use the discount. I think it's because there is no barcode for the to use with the Yelp discount. As for the coffee, it was okay. The craft drinks look like that is probably what is the most popular here. read more

I really enjoyed my iced pistachio latte with macadamia milk. Small was a good size and had 2 espresso shots. Oat, soy, and almond milk was also available. Service was friendly and very patient. The lady in front of me had a long drawn out order and the cashier was kind and smiling the whole time. My latte came out layered which looked cute, just give it a stir to mix in the layers before you drink. They use Monin syrups and have a small indoor and outdoor seating area. Shepherd's is a solid place to grab and iced mocha or latte, but I'd definitely skip the yogurt parfait and banana bread. When I stopped by before 8am on Sunday, the line to order was almost to the door. However, it moved fast and my iced mocha was surprisingly ready in no time. It had just the right amount of espresso to milk, as well as chocolate sauce. Also tried some of the iced latte, which I also enjoyed. The yogurt parfait was a no go. Had way too much granola, which was soggy. The fruit also didn't look as fresh, although it was mentioned that it was made the night before. The banana bread was also not good, tasting a tad stale. Service was friendly. The place is rather cozy, with some tables both inside and outside. In addition to coffee and pastries, Shepherd's also serves breakfast all day, salads, sandwiches, etc. If you are in the area, definitely check out Shepherd's for their coffee! read more

We were attending an event on the beach and came here to grab a sandwich and a coffee before returning there. There was one table of I believe 5 that had been here long before we arrived, one table of 2 and another person seated by herself and aside from them, this place was mostly empty both inside and out. We ordered and had a seat at a table for 2 out front, our coffee was brought to us a few minutes later and the guy explained that the 2 sandwiches we ordered were on the way. Shortly after, the larger table of 5 nearby was served. And then we waited, and waited. After waiting for about 20 minutes for our food and noting that the 3 other patrons here who were seated before us had still not been served, I went inside to inquire and was told it'd be about another 10 minutes. I noted they had 2 baristas working, 2 ladies working near the stand where one finds the sugar, creamer and other condiments and at least one person back in the food prep area, so they seemed to have plenty of staff on this day. After sitting there for at least another 20 minutes, we requested a refund and left. 45 minutes' wait for 2 relatively simple sandwiches that were listed on their menu, at a place that was fully staffed and really wasn't busy, is insane. 10 minutes I can accept. 15 minutes maybe, but 45 minutes is well beyond acceptable. The fact that they readily issued a refund tells me that they hadn't even yet started to prepare our food at that point, or their reaction most likely would have been "We have your order ready, we can bring it to you now if you'd like", but we got no such comment. I did give them an extra star as the staff were friendly and the coffee we had was good. read more

Our first coffee shop was opened almost 5 years ago in South Beach. We believe that breakfast is most important meal of the day and nothing can be better than artisan cup of coffee after it! Meet the Manager: Bryan M.

The Owner, a retired music producer and international business man, that moved to Miami a few years ago felt the lack of a quality coffee house near his area. Not being a fan of chain coffee houses and being an avid coffee drinker, he decided to go to Italy to find a unique blend between Arabica and Robusta roasted coffee beans. He found the perfect medium roast blend that infused the aroma, sweetness, acidity, persistence and body into a great tasting and very aromatic house blend coffee. With such a perfect blend of roasts Shepherd Artisan Coffee was born. The name Shepherd refers to the Legend of Kaldi, a Shepherd in the 9th century who is said to have discovered the coffee seed in an area near Ethiopia. Shepherds mission is to bring great tasting quality coffee to all coffee enthusiasts, lovers or occasional drinkers, while providing the relaxing ambience to enjoy yourself, friends and most importantly a great cup of coffee. Hard pass, there are much better options in south beach for a decent breakfast. The avacado toast with cream cheese and olives was a strange [and bad] combination, we specifically asked for no cream cheese, but they put it on anyways. The avocado was not at all fresh. The acai bowl tasted good, however, the serving was very small for the price. The baked goods are tasty, but it's pretty hard to screw up a muffin. That being said, my biggest complaint is the fact they call themselves an artisan coffee place, yet made me wait for my entire order to be completed before allowing me to retrieve my iced Americano while it sat on the back counter. For those reading this review who don't know, iced americano is a iced espresso drink, if you serve it promptly, it tastes like cold espresso, if you let it sit for 10 minutes it turns to watered down iced coffee [especially in south Florida heat]. I had to watch my coffee deteriorate into a watered down sludge, I was rejected when I asked if I could have it upon completion, they said I would have to wait for my buzzer to go off. The avocado toast was very disappointing. The cashier mentioned that it had feta and cream cheese on it and I asked for it on the side. The manager fought with me saying the cream cheese can't come on the side. Ok. I thought made it was mixed together already. It took 15 minutes for it to be served. The bread was barely toasted and it had a thick layer of cream cream and a razor thin layer of avocado that was not fresh. I don't understand why it was such an issue. The cream cheese was put on before the avocado. All I could taste was the cream cheese. It also had olives and peppers on it. I also got the Tropical Storm smoothie and it was pretty disappointing. It tasted like a mall smoothie. It tasted artificially sweet. The coconut flakes were were the only nice part of the smoothie. Will not be coming here again. I went in this morning. I asked the boy what was in the croissants (fruit) he said " I don't know..do you want it or not?" I asked to wash my hands, bathroom was OUT OF ORDER. I then ordered a large cappuccino, yogurt with berries and a chocolate croissant. I went outside to eat. The coffee was cold, the croissant was like bread with chocolate stuffing and the yogurt was at least 2 days old. Granola was soggy, fruit was old etc. It wasn't so much to food as the service that was non caring and oblivious to the place. I wanted to pay with cash but they don't take cash...that tells me that the owner is not on site, doesn't trust employees and is oblivious too. sorry to report but you must be on site to run a business.... read more
