Every time I visit greater Phoenix I always stay at this property for 2-3 days just for some me time before staying with family. From the excellent customer service of the valet staff when you pull up to the outstanding friendly front desk staff. I'm always treated like a special guest. I just love that Jeff at the bar in the main lobby remembers me. I've missed Jeff my last few visits so I hadn't seen him in over a year. I saw him last night and he remembered me and the fact that my son goes to school at ASU. Of course my favorite drink an Old Fashioned. The 24hr gym is so convenient for me since I never have a fixed time to workout. A great location downtown Phoenix that's close to the airport and mass transit like the rail system. My advise, join the free SPG membership and receive free wifi and many other benefits. read more

Every now and then my company does me a solid .. I get to be home and get paid to be here. I usually go home to my own bed, but this time, since my husband had conferences at another hotel, I asked him to join me for the next thirty hours here and make a date night out of it. I mean, I am getting paid for this and it's a great hotel in a great part of Phoenix! The location is superb. You are close to Chase Field here and conventions and conferences take place all around. The lobby has infused water stations, which is a nice touch in hot, dry Arizona. You must have a guest room key to access any of the guest room floors. I like that. I wish ALL hotels that I stayed in around the world were like that! The rooms are decent sized, quiet and the beds are super comfortable with plush pillows. Like all Sheratons, you can count on Starbucks and Keurig too in your room. My room also had a great view of the city. The awesome gym here overlooks the olympic sized pool. The hotel restaurant, District, has a great bar with awesome happy hour specials. District, itself is also a very good restaurant for a 'hotel restaurant' using fresh herbs from the garden they have on property. In the morning, there is a large buffet breakfast served, as well. Or Starbucks to grab and go. My husband valeted the vehicle and as long as you have a meal here, your ticket will be validated and that will be complimentary. All in all, this Sheraton is in the mecca of downtown. You can walk to anything that you need or want or have to be at for business and the ASU downtown campus isn't far away, either. I found the staff here to be friendly, helpful and accommodating. read more

Their idea of preferred guest must be way different than mine as they had us under a lounge with constantly skidding chairs all night. The walls are paper thin. You can here everything from the guy next door preparing his speech to someone dropping coins on the floor above you. Than when you ask if they have any other rooms available at 4:30am they ask how fast you can pack up your stuff do security can escort you!! I just returned from a conference of 3600 women. The hotel and their employees were amazing. They were efficient and kind. The banquets and buffets were served quickly and efficiently. The rooms and beds were comfy. I highly recommend the hotel for functions or just a getaway. read more

I'm currently staying there. The hotel doesn't have public microwaves. You have to pay $10 to rent one. They currently have 0 microwaves available to rent. I'm stuck with food that I can't eat. At the Hyatt, they have public microwave (a friend of mine is staying there currently). I recommend staying at the Hyatt... Much better than Sheraton. As a platinum elite member, let's just say that I get to stay at a lot of Marriott establishments. First the check in process was too dubious. I wasn't allowed to change the card information on the reservation. I'm not sure if this was truly policy or simply that the attendant did not know how to perform this function. I've never encountered this before and forget about the experience in the club lounge - the same eggs and bacon every single day. Lastly, no late checkout! If this is the experience you want as a dedicated Marriott traveler, then this hotel is for you. read more

In the middle of the night, my ac went out in my room, That is only the beginning of this horror story. After I went to the thermostat to turn it off, it shot sparks at me and filled the room with an electrical fire smell. This all happened around midnight, at which point, they sent maintenance staff up to address the issue. The motor blew on the AC and they would need to replace it. Normally, they would wait until morning, but they informed me that there were no other rooms and therefore they had to drill now. I then overheard the maintenance supervisor's call. He proceeded to tell them to check room 2108. The carpet was still wet from cleaning, but that if I had an issue with it or staying in the room with the electrical fire smell, to just offer me $100 off my room because "I was an educator, they are cheap so he will probably just take it." The maintenance person did not offer me the wet room, instead, they drilled out the motor loudly at 1am, thrilling my room neighbors I'm sure, said "The smell will go away eventually," then left. I waited a few minutes then called down to the front desk, who within 15 mins found an alternate room on the 28th floor (the club level) and I would get "free breakfast" and access to the club lounge. I used neither, nor did I really care. For the record, the room was exactly the same as my 12th floor room. On checkout, I asked for the manager (shockingly unavailable) and recounted my experience via the Starwood website. I got generic responses from each. To be fair, one person did call after I responded with my phone number, but I was unavailable at the time. I will do everything I can to ensure my company, my conference, and anyone planning to provide Sheraton/Starwood with their business knows and understands their stance on guests, educators, and service. read more

Great hotel! I checked in on Wednesday, it was late and the front desk girls were great. They made me laugh and we had an actual conversation. The hotel was very modern, trendy, convenient to so much downtown. My room was perfect. Big comfortable down bed, flat screen tv, and wireless internet.... I stay in a lot of hotels and when they say they have wireless internet Im always skeptical because it tends to be just slightly faster than dialup with constant losses. This was perfect--given the 13/day charge. My hesitation from the last 5th star was their in-room dining menu. I looked everywhere for the menu, come to find out you access on order on your TV! ... I guess my order was too complicated because I ended up calling anyway. They guarantee it in 30 min or less and both times I got it as close to the 30 min as possible. The food was nothing special, definitely not worth the exorbitant room service charges. I would stay here again. read more

Disappointed that the Sheraton Grand Phoenix doesn't have any freezer space available for my cooler ice packs that are needed to transport my breast milk home. I have two ice packs that do not fit in the tiny room fridge/freezer (my breast milk barely does). I understand that it's probably an inconvenience, but I'm still very disappointed, nonetheless. THE GOOD: - The building seems either fairly new or it has been recently renovated. The building is clean and very well maintained. - The employees are super friendly and accommodating! The lady who checked us in was very friendly and nice! We asked if we could check-in early (1 PM) and she let us, which was way cool of her. I know a lot of hotels won't allow early check in. - The hotel room itself was well kept and all the furniture seemed fairly new. - The location (this is both good and bad) was in downtown Phoenix. It was close to the airport (a $13 uber drive) which I liked. But downtown Phoenix is rather dead. We came here on a Sunday, two days after Christmas, so I'm not sure if that's the reason the city seemed dead but there were not much dining choices that were near enough to walk to. - I called for late check-out the morning we were leaving, and because of their low vacancy rate for the day and because of my SPG membership, they let us stay until 1 PM! Really loved this~ (also for SPG members, you get a free bottle of water! nice!) THE BAD: - Location. We expected more from staying in downtown Phoenix and planned to walk around but there was nowhere to walk to. - A lot of the restaurants that actually were around (mostly fast food places like Subway), were closed. Again, not sure if it was because it was a Sunday or because it was during the holiday season. (the hotel is located very close to University of Arizona). - The bar closes at 11. Or 11:30. Beautiful hotel but I was most impressed with the whiteness - the bright white sheets, comforter, sink, toilet, etc. The linens were crisp and fresh, and the bathroom was clean and sparkling. I was unimpressed with our view from the room (of the satellite dishes), and expected better treatment since we'd told the clerk that this was our first visit to a Sheraton. Also, there was a charge for wifi. I'm surprised that McDonald's can offer free wifi but the Sheraton can't - and the Sheraton costs a lot more! read more

We ate Christmas Dinner at the 'American Kitchen Bar and Grill' inside the hotel. The (3) of us had the rib eye steak and it was cooked to perfection and very delicious. It was a 3 course dinner and well worth the $36.00 price when many other restaurants were charging $70-90 for Christmas dinner. My wife had the carrot bisque soup and she loved it. For dessert we were served cheescake, gingerbread, and a pecan caramel cake. The ambiance was great and kudos to our server 'Alexis' who did a great job and was there when we needed her. read more

The woman I dealt with at the front desk was very rude, and they inconsistently gave our group late checkouts. This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in quite some time. When I travel on business, I tend to stay at lower-end chain hotels, but the rates in Phoenix during this time of year are quite reasonable so I thought I'd splurge and spend a little more just to try out a nice hotel. When you stay at lesser hotels on a frequent basis, you get used to the idea that many many people have stayed in that same room before you, and so there's going to be all types of wear and tear. The room I got at this hotel looked as if I was the first ever guest to stay in it. Everything was clean and pristine, the bed was made with very high-quality sheets, pillows, and blankets, and the bathroom was extremely clean. I had no problem sitting directly on the toilet seat without putting down toilet paper first, which is what I usually do when I stay in other hotels. The lobby of the hotel has a nice lounge, and I would have been inclined to spend some time loitering in the lobby but it was a little too crowded at the time I arrived. When I initially made the reservation, I had the option of paying a little more in order to get a "city view" room. I chose not to spend the extra money. However, when I checked into the hotel, I asked for the upgraded room and they gave it to me without hesitation, and without charging me the extra money. I ended up staying on the 26th floor, in a room with a gorgeous view of Phoenix. The only thing I didn't like was having to pay $17 for parking my car for one night. That's a ridiculous price to pay, especially if you're a paying guest staying overnight at the hotel. They don't need to also gouge you on parking. Altogether, I think I paid about $150 for the room for one night, which was reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. Overall, this was a very good stay at a very nice hotel. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I very much enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was clean & comfortable, and everyone was quite nice. The customer service after having stayed there is what brings me to write them a five star review. I called at almost 11 pm and Julie greeted me and helped direct me to security to ask about a lost item I might have left in my room. Adam in security was supremely helpful in helping locate the item and putting it in the mail! Big kudos to them both for the helpful and friendly service at such a late hour and for relieving a huge amount of stress I'd had over leaving something behind!! read more

Wow very up setting, beautiful hotel wonder pool but the service goes two ways hear. So if you book hear directly with the hotel, you yet the service that you supose to but if you book the room from an outside source like I did they treat you like a unwanted step child, for example we have we have a little on and we need to warm his bottle, we call downstairs to the front desk and ask is there anyway we can warm up are bottles and food due to the fact the rooms have no microwaves in this big 17 floor hotel mayb may be more, the guy tells us nope "sorry we have no microwaves here at the sharroton." I reply so how am I suppose to warm up my son's bottle? His reply "we I guess you can't since we have no microwaves lol"!! How rude was that asshole with a smart mouth. Example 2 we leave the run day two for a nice meal and do a little shopping across the street, so we call down to room service to come clean the room while we are gone left for about 3 hrs return no clean room...ok maybe their just really busy call back downstairs to come clean rooms, meanwhile well go to the pool. When we get to the wonderful saltwater pull we put are towls down on our chairs and enjoy the cool water in this 107 degree heat. Swim for about 1 hour in a half get out no our towls are gone. So no we have to walk around the hotel dripping wet to our still not clean hotel room. Another example call downstairs for extra pillows and blanket, they bring extra sheet no pillows. Last example call the bell boy to help with the bags he gets there in speedy time very shocked my wife isn't ready, I tell the bell boy five mins he could leave the luggage kart he says he couldn't do that will return in 5 mins, 15 mins later no bell boy no luggage kart on hold with front desk. Final solution we just do it ourselves can't walk out this hotel fast enough!! Never been so happy to see the taxi guy that we had to call due to the front desk taxi never arrived which is funny because when we called to ask were the taxi was they transfer us to housekeeping vm...didn't know maids called taxi smh!!!! Oh yeah if you book outside source wifi is $15 dollars a day. So again we were the unwanted step child so all luxury and services were not provided. read more

I stayed here after attending a convention in the hotels ballroom. The rooms were great, and the staff was very welcoming. The only problem I had was with parking. There is a fee for parking, and upon arrival the lot was full. I was told by the attendant I wound need to find parking across the street. I went to the check in desk while my husband waited in the car, I was not happy with having to find my own parking, or being made aware that this would be a possible issue. The check in agent was great, and explained that what the parking attendant meant was I would need to go to their overflow lot. She was very apologetic that this had not been explained properly, and offered me complementary valet parking which was much appreciated. I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

I stay here frequently on business, and am very happy with the hotel. It's new, so it has up-to-date facilities, and the staff are friendly and competent. The exercise facilities are among the best I've seen in any hotel, period. The restaurant is a cut above -- considerably above -- the standard hotel restaurant in this country, with reasonable prices for quite good food. As a matter of fact, it's become one of my favorite places anywhere in the downtown area, and on Sundays, when Phoenix downtown is just about deserted, it feels almost like the only choice. The one thing I don't care for is the way the hotel handles taxi service. There's a line of town-car limos, not regular taxis, and they are more expensive than taxis, as far as I can tell. I've learned to call a taxi ahead of time for the ride to the airport (if I'm leaving after noon; the hotel's $12 shuttle can't be beat in the morning). All in all, however, this hotel is fine in almost every way. read more

This is where we normally stay when we come to watch the Dbacks play. We have always been pleased with the service, room and view. This time I am surprised at how small the room is and everything in it, right down to the television. This is a very plain, small room. I still recommend this place, however, ask about the room location and size when booking for the night. read more
