Chicken Saag (G)
Jenah C.

I don't fully understand why this restaurant doesn't have a higher star rating, it's always a hit - never a miss. It's a little bit of a drive from where I live, but it's the best no fail Indian food around. I usually order from here for my family about once a month. Here is our go to order - vegetable pakora (fantastic. Good variety of veggies, lightly spiced - my 3 and 5 year olds love them), vegetarian samosa (great flavor, sometimes they have some kick so it's hit or miss with the kids, but adults love them), chicken korma and chicken saag (we get medium spice and it's fairly spicy, good big chunks of white meat chicken, thick sauce). The pashwari naan is unbelievable. So good. Kids eat the whole thing. The chicken biryani is nice too. I haven't eaten inside, but it's your typical restaurant inside. Looks nice, but not fancy. Take out has never missed! I did have one not so pleasant experience with the manager/owner when picking up takeout on time, but service has been fine otherwise.

Ordered the following: 1) lamb samosas, which were yum 2) lamb roganjosh spicy but good 3) naans - butter and garlic

Located in a strip mall setting in Glen Mills, PA, Sher-E-Punjab is an excellent option for Indian food when visiting the Longwood Gardens & Brandywine area. I've dined there twice now, and the food quality has been great and service friendly both times I've gone. The mango lassi (4/5) tasted good with nice hints of mango. I was a bit apprehensive since it was served with ice, but it didn't detract at all from the taste. The chicken tikka masala and palak paneer (both 4.5/5) were solid preparations with each with their respective tomato and spinach gravies. Although business seemed slow when I visited, they were on point with quality of both dishes. Naan was fluffy & delicious, with a fresh taste. For dessert, we had the kheer (4/5) which hit all the right flavor notes and a perfect portion for sharing among multiple diners to satisfy the sweet tooth. The prices (5/5) were very reasonable for Indian food as most other restaurants are usually more expensive. Service was friendly and food quality great such that Shere-E-Punjab will be our go to Indian restaurant when in the Brandywine area.

Was in the area for brandy wine battlefield and Longwood Gardens. We love India food and said let's try that place. Pleasantly impressed and surprised. They offer a seven day a week lunch special for 9.99 and it is not only well worth the money but the food is fresh and there is many options to choose from. If you aren't a Indian food aficionado the lunch buffet is definitely a good choice to test the different tastes of India. When in the area we will definitely come back.

Shere-E-Punjab has some of the best Indian food I have had! I love their selection of cocktails as well. The food was absolutely amazing. I especially enjoyed their assortment of naan breads. The restaurant itself is clean, the food came out relatively quickly, and our waiter was very attentive. I forget exactly what we ordered, but everything was phenomenal and we will return! I highly recommend Shere-E-Punjab!

Our meal was delicious and spiced perfectly. The only negative was not having soups on the menu. Well worth the trip up from Delaware.

The food on my first visit shortly after it opened was wonderful. Against all restaurant odds, it has gotten better with each subsequent visit as winter turned to spring. Whether your preference is meat, vegetarian, a combination, you will find more than one appetizer, main dish, and dessert to please you. Some of the choices created by the creative, friendly chef, Ashok----who by the way stopped at our table and answered questions----are: ---A Shrimp appetizer on top of the poori---Something new to me but something I will want again. ----Tender, well-seasoned lamb chops, unequaled in quality and flavor, and better than any I have ever had. ----Aloo Tikki Chaat---- if chat interests you. Affectionately called Indian Street Food. It would be welcome on my street anytime. The restaurant is very convenient and accessible to Northwest Philadelphia---Chestnut Hill Mount Airy ---and the near suburbs. Buut the restaurant is well worth a longer trip if you are not nearby. The staff is friendly without being intrusive. They know just when to be there for you and when not to be. The check will not break the bank. You will leave satisfied with a desire to return as soon as you can. I would recommend Mod India Restaurant without hesitancy or reservation and will be going back soon. Mike Carroll

But we left with a bad taste in our mouth. The food felt like microwaved airline meal. The chicken biryani was flavourless, veg biryani was worse ( dried rice, frozen veggies were reused ) yogurt rice had rice which clearly was leftover from prior evening ( dehydrated?) the dosa counter was closed most of the meal ( we were there at peak time just past noon) it was late but the only thing on the plate that was fresh. Coconut fish appetizer was flaky. The only reason this is a two star review and not one star is because the dosa was fresh. To the owner - you need to taste your food before putting it out there and charging an outrageous 27 dollars per person. And cut the ala carte menu and figure out how to improve your main offering instead of adding more stuff . Also you need more staff. Very disappointed and unhappy that these guys are able to get away with what they are feeding people and calling it upscale Indian food.

Started with the Samosa Chaat and honestly... it may be my favorite Samosa Chaat ever. The portion was super generous, the flavors were incredible, and best of all, it wasn't drowning in yogurt like so many places tend to do. Absolute perfection. For entrées, I ordered the Chana Masala (medium spice) and the Dal Tadka (medium). Both were packed with flavor, perfectly spiced, rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. The Chana Masala had the perfect kick, and the Dal Tadka was truly fantastic. And the garlic naan? Chef's kiss. Fresh, soft, flavorful, and perfectly made. Beautiful space and exceptional service by Nabil and Prince! Everything was delicious, satisfying, and so filling. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be keeping this spot on my list of favorite Indian restaurants!
