I've always come and grab foods here. Their won ton soup is amazing. Today 5/6/23 I wanted an order of their fried salted shrimps and pointed to the one already made, instead the lady placed my order with the chief. I'm thinking she wanted to save what was left on the tray for other customers so I waited for my ordered. My bf paid and when I opened up my plate in the car, it was fried battered prawns. I was so disappointed. I turned back the car and pointed the shrimps in the tray, told her I wanted that and you gave me wrong order. She didn't apologize or anything, I paid full price for the salted shrimps, kept the prawns . And left. Customer service was poorly. A customer in front of me wanting to change her wontons soup to noodles soups, the lady said too late she had already put in the order with the chief. Everything looked okay when I opened the container, so I began eating. Unfortunately, in my soup, I found small bugs (roaches?) and they didn't float to the top until I began stirring. I thought it could probably be coarse black pepper but from a closer look, they're brown with legs. Gross!!!! I also didn't notice it on the cap either until I began investigating more. My favorite won ton soup in East Stockton. Only giving them four stars though because it is the only item on their menu I like. Their other food taste like cafeteria food and is greasy. The Won Ton soup is five star for sure though! Perfect for when you not feeling good or when it's cold and/or raining outside. Cost $6.05 for a huge to go bowl. I believe it's a quart in size. The soup is packed full of Won Tons, Bok Choy, and sliced of bbq pork (just a few on top). So if you are feeling under the weather this is the perfect alternative for chicken soup and will satisfy you! For $7.50 including tax and tip, you get a selection that includes egg rolls, chow mein, shrimp, Kung pao chicken, egg drop soup and so much more. This is definitely a place to go when you're hungry. PROS: cheap, about 10-14 different food choices including SOME seafood, food STAYS hot, food is constantly being replaced once it gets low at the buffet, check out is quick, the employees are friendly, the food is "good". CONS: I can taste the MSG- I fasho left with a phatass food coma, kind of awkward seating I guess because it's not a big buffet so they make do with the space, it's in the hood so if you ain't DOWN gtfo. Raising two stars to four stars. I feel the food has improved and stabilized. The food is consistent. You cannot beat the buffet deal. $6 for lunch. $7 for dinner. Sodas are $1.35. That's cheaper for a meal than McD's!! They offer approximately 14 buffet selections (see the two videos that I posted). The selections can vary a bit from day to day. But the quality is good considering the price. They offer boneless garlic fried chicken that is quite yummy. The batter is just right...not to heavy. Once in a while they even have bbq spareribs on the buffet if you get there on the 'right' night! Yeah, they are not in the best location but hey, low overhead means low prices! I live three blocks from Shermans on Country Club, but had to go to another location because they don't have indoor dining. We went to Thornton Road location because that was only location with inside dining on Sunday. When I called to check if open, lady was so abrupt and sounded rude. When we got there, it was like we were alone in the world. Lady never acknowledged us, so we grabbed plates and started dishing up some food. When I asked what a certain item was, you would have thought I had dome something very wrong. The answer was just ridiculously short, I was afraid to ask about anything else. The same way to my wife. I asked another question, and was treated the same way. I saw a female cook thru the opening run her fingers thru her hair, rub her face all over, and then go back to preparing food. Never saw her wash her hands ( I never ate anything else coming out after that episode). After I sat down, I noticed that the next customer was treated the same way. She came off looking and acting so rude. The food was OK, not spectacular. My main thing I like to eat is Broccoli with Beef. There was hardly any in the pan, so what I dished out was soggy and definitely not crisp. They refilled every pan, that was fuller than the Broccoli with Beef, except the Broccoli with Beef - so I never got but a couple soggy pieces of my favorite. When we were leaving, my wife saw the waitress pick up unused napkins from the table behind us (that customer just finished and left) - and she put them on the stack of napkins behind the counter (the next customers will get "used" napkins). Okay so I've been here twice and this last time will make me NEVER return. 1st visit: buffet was delicious not to overcrowded. 2nd visit: Today I have STREP THROAT and am contagious. I called in a order of wonton soup as to not infect anyone. I arrived, paid and told the lady after handling money she should wash her hands. I informed them I was sick and after handling my contagious $20 bill... SHE DID NOT WASH HER HANDS!!! Instead she went to handle the buffet food. That's disgusting and puts future customers at risk.
