But since the reviews were so good, I decided to give this doctor a go. Dr. Zarrinfar was very kind - I saw him in Ranson and the location was clean and tidy. His colleagues are also very nice. However, Dr. Zarrinfar determined I needed hard plaque removed from my teeth, so I allowed him to do so. This process was some of the worst pain I have ever felt at the dentist, and I can confidently say that he was not gentle with my teeth. It was certainly not a procedure he should have done without novocaine. He also let the pick/tool (ejecting with water) he was using in my mouth get so hot that it burned the skin on my lip, leaving a mark. It took about 4 minutes for it to cool down enough to be useable after how hot it had gotten. Afterward, he told me I would need to come back in 4 weeks to have more plaque removed, as well as get several cavities filled. I told him that what I had just experienced was painful, and that because of my anxiety (specifically around needles), I'd prefer if he would provide nitrous oxide for my next appointment. He told me he would not do that, and simply 'does not accommodate' patients with anxiety. He said he could refer me to a pediatric dentist if I wanted (I am a full adult). Every doctor retains their right to deny care, but I was very upset when I learned I would have to find a new dentist because of where I live being rather desolate. Overall, I could've definitely had a better experience. I am not sure of the reason why Dr. Zarrinfar refuses to provide mild sedation to patients with anxiety, but that will be the reason I don't return. However, if sedation is not something you worry about, I could recommend trying this dentist. The previous good reviews give me hope that the tool/pick error was a mechanical mistake. But not sure.

Dr. Parker is a great dentist who put me at ease despite a traumatic history with awful dentists. The dental technician who cleaned my teeth was also very good, and gentle. My granddaughter comes here and loves the staff who have taken great care of her (the reason I decided to come here after many years of not seeing a dentist. Updating my review. Again, the dentist and technicians are very good; but I don't like getting lied to, multiple times. I was specifically told by their desk people that the practice took the insurance I had to change to since the insurance I had previously, was not insurance they took (but never bothered to tell me about leaving me nearly $1000 in dental bills). A lie of omission. Once I change my insurance to one they said they took, turns out that was a lie as well. Again, the dentist and technician are fine, but this is a medical practice which will hit you with surprise medical billing, which appears to be a common practice nowadays. Recommend getting, in writing, the insurance these people take, and what the anticipated bill will be prior to your appointment.

However, on my last cleaning, the hygienist found the start of some decay around the margins of an existing bridge. Steps in Dr. Banks!!! He set me up an appointment with him personally as this was going to be a particularly tricky case. And, knowing what I know, I knew he was right. Long story short, he fixed and saved not only that tooth but the entire bridge, saving me a lot of grief and money. As it turned out, it proved to be trickier that we even thought. In the end, I was super impressed. Kudos to Dr. Banks! My lab was in the DC metro area and, over the years, I got to know at least 100 dentists and was very familiar with the caliber of their work. Out of all those dentists, there were probably 5 or so that I would want to go to, not because the others were so bad but because those 5 were so good. They were my top picks. Dr. Ashton is by far the best dentist I've seen in over 30 years…read more First of all, Dr. Ashton is highly intelligent and was able to sort through my case expertly and quickly, with insights that made sense to me--alas! I went to Dr. Ashton as a 4th opinion for a tooth that had been mistreated by a few previous dentists, leaving me suffering with severe tooth pain for a few years, with a high risk of a root canal. Dr. Ashton used his 3D x-rays to show me exactly why that tooth was so vulnerable. He handled the tooth very conservatively, causing no pain, and also addressed every aspect of what I could do to minimize future dental issues. It's clear that Dr. Ashton keeps current on dental advances, from his 3D x-ray machine (I've only seen at universities like UCLA TMD department), to topical solutions for dry mouth. Why didn't any of the other many dentists or speech and language pathologists I've seen notice my severe dry mouth, which has contributed to my long-term tooth sensitivity, possibly my receded gums and swallowing difficulties too? (Dr. Ashton didn't make those claims but they seem to apply to me based on the improvement I feel already and some studies I've read since his opened my eyes too this issue.) I bet the severe dryness is part of why, if only one person at a dinner table has food stuck to their teeth, it's me. There is so much else that I can say in praise of Dr. Ashton. He is extremely caring and thorough, leaving no stone unturned in addressing my complex case. I don't think Dr. Ashton needs another raving review, but I felt compelled to share my experience.
