Shield-X honored their warranty and replaced all tint on my wife's 2014 Kia Optima LX. The back window bubbled up really bad only within the last six months and could not see out the back when driving. I took it in and the owner remembered me from three years prior and with no hesitation replaced all tint on the car five windows with no questions asked. I've never had to bring any tint work for replacement and it just happened to be one of those fluke incidents, positive it didn't have anything to do with the company as Shield-X is a reputable brand and stand by their product. Had the front windows of my truck done here a few years ago, the tint went on great and matched the factory tinted back windows pretty well. After a few years the tint faded to basically clear, like I had no tint. Took my truck back to the shop because the tint came with a lifetime warranty. They stripped off the old stuff and put on the new stuff. Looks great! The owner said they changed tint companies from the last time, hopefully this version will hold up better! Note: I bought the cheapest tint, obviously my expectations aren't that high for it, it was part of a groupon! So if you want tint that won't fade, you have to spend a little extra. read more

Called, then went by for an estimate (about 3:30 PM.) after checking a couple of other service providers. We were greeted politely by a staff member who introduced himself as Lee, and asked if he could be of service. I showed him the problem, (which ended up requiring a new windshield) and received an estimate, which was lower than I received from other places. A nice surprise. It was not an item they stocked (not uncommon), but it could be there the next morning, so I booked the appointment and ordered the part. I showed up at the appointed time, was greeted nicely, the vehicle was driven into the shop, and the work performed as promised in about thirty-five minutes. All by the same technician who greeted me and gave me the estimate the afternoon before. If you stop in there, ask for Lee. He was prompt, polite, professional, and friendly. All in all a very positive experience, and I would certainly give them repeat business based on the service received, professionalism, and good vibe of the people who work there. The only small negative I can site is... While there for the estimate, there was a young man (19-22 ish) working there. He walked around acting like he owned the place, was kind of bossy, a bit arrogant, and interrupted my conversation with Lee a couple of times without knowing what was going on in the dialog. He then told me what my appointment time would be after it had already been set up, logged in, the deal had been made, and the windshield ordered. I don't normally bother with reviews, but when an experience sticks out, I will take the time. Took my car in at 1030am on a Saturday, picked up (the first time) at about 2pm. My car was parked in the shade, so it looked pretty good to me. As I drove away, I noticed bubbles in 3 of my windows, drove back , and left it. They were very apologetic, saying they did not check it in the sunlight, and very hard to see bubbles inside the shop (really??) to me, not very professional ! Told me it would take an hour to fix. Over 2 hours later, I had to call them !. I was told to come in 30 min, because they were still "checking it". I arrived at 5pm to see my car parked in the sunlight with the motor running (??). The bubbles seemed to be gone, but now there were long scratches etched into 2 of my windows, AND my battery had died. However, they did not tell me, I only knew that because my clock was flashing error codes were flashing on my dashboard. Lastly, they left fingerprint marks and water marks all over the outside of my windows and dripped all down the sides of my car. (and the next day, I still saw 3 small bubbles in the corner of a small back window. (not worth the trouble to go back and have it fixed a 3rd time) Overall: Unprofessional, Messy, Careless, Inconsiderate and Lacking in Knowledge for window tinting !!! Brought my car to get windows tinted for the first time since I have had several recommendations to go there. I work two jobs and was really hoping to get it done somewhere at a good price, last minute, and where it wouldn't take all day. Called Shield-X on a Saturday, they gave me a price and told me to come at any time. I went ahead and headed there and they got started on my car right away. They have a little room with sofas and a TV so you can sit and wait. In the room they also have a few and coffee dispenser. They didn't try to upsell me which was nice. They told me it would take about an hour and 30 minutes. They also have Wi-fi you can use just ask for it. They were done at exactly the time they said they would be done. Steve is great in making sure is customers are satisfied with the results. I paid $205 for a full tint in my Nissan Sentra. It was worth it as I am happy with the way my car looks and everything done in a timely manner. They are also open more hours than a "Mon-Fri 9-5" so it makes it more convenient for those who work those business hours as well! read more

thought i was going too pay 149 for all windows. Made my appt. Couldn't take me on the same day.fine. When i got there the tint went from 149 to 189. In order to get the best film. It took two hours too finish. After two weeks i notice spots on the film. Went ,was told to bring it back.a different day. Went back.they didn't finish the repair. Was told to bring it back again. In order for them to get the correct film. Went but.the guy whose been working on it wasn't there. Nobody called or nothing. If you don't mind a bad job,bad service and going back and forth. Very easy to work with - quick service. I had my BMW 228i tinted recently - and I thought the 20% was too dark. After a couple of days I asked to switch it to 35% and they did that for me free of charge. They didn't need to do that - I would have gladly paid. Unprofessional, rude, racist, and no sense of honor. Terrible wouldn't do enough justice in rating this place. Brought my car in and requested they tint my front windows to match my already tinted rear windows. They put a 5% on (my rear was a 35%) and when I requested they fix it, the owner refused & made reference to "you people" always coming in requesting illegal tint, which I as a black male find racist. In an effort not to make an issue, I said nothing at the time in response to her ignorant statement. When one of the workers attempted to give me a copy of the warranty, she literally snatched it out of my hands and refused to give me a copy. I had to take it back & snap a picture of it with my Cell Phone. Despite that, she still refused to honor it. I made a big mistake by paying up front & not only wound losing the money spent to get the tint, spending extra elsewhere to correct it. Took 2 of my vehicles here. 1st vehicle was only a few days new, straight out of Hoen Honda in Carlsbad. I wanted all 5 windows tinted. As I was pulling up to the location I saw another guy pulling in and ran straight to the back of the shop, which happened to be the tint guy. I thought ok so what hes running late on his shift. He took my car into the back to start on the tint. They said it would take around 3 hours. Got a call from them saying my car was ready to be picked up only to find out 4/5 windows had to be re-done. The tint wasn't placed smoothly and there were bubbles that were obvious,which i thought was weird that they called me to pick up the car when it didnt look nice. This was a disappointment considering I would have to come back and wait another 3 hours. When I got home, I noticed a dent in my dashboard and the passenger seat door handle had completely fallen off! These guys do not know what they're doing. 2nd vehicle I only wanted the front 2 windows tinted since the back 3 were already done(came that way from the dealership) when they finished with my car I noticed there were bubbles in the rear window!! Which did not come in this way it was perfectly fine. They denied such accusations and even showed them a picture I had taken before bringing in my car that the tint in the back was never like that! They totally messed it up and when I asked to speak to the owner(he's the Asian man) he wouldn't even give me a chance to explain myself and was so reassuring that his workers did not damage my tint in the back and he blamed the heat and that it was cheap tint from the dealership that they used. Funny because both my back passenger windows were perfectly fine, so if it was "cheap tint" wouldn't ALL back 3 windows end up bubbling too?! Trust me a dealership would not sell its car like that they are totally professional! Don't go to this place. The owner is very unprofessional. We had our car windows tinted at this location. The tinter scratched our car window. We took the car into three different body shops and all said that the window needed to be placed because the scratch was too deep. The owner of the place claimed that he could 'buff' out the window (now who should I believe, the owner of a tint place, or three distinct body shops). We paid to get our window replaced (which cost more than the tint job for the entire car), and took it back to ShieldX to tint the new window. The owner then had the audacity to demand payment for the tint job of the window we had replaced and cussed at us when we refused. The professional thing to do would have been to politely redo the tint job for free, since the damage was their fault to begin with, or perhaps even reimburse us for part of the cost to replace the window. Instead, we get cussed at. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. read more

The tint looks good after they did it a second time, but overall the Customer Service was really disappointing. The first time I called to make an appointment to bring my car in, I told them I wasn't sure when I could come in and they told me to call in the morning. I called in the morning to bring it in right away and they said they would be able to get me in and have my car done in about 2 hours. I was quoted $199 for all my windows. I dropped off my car and they told me they would call me when it was finished. I waited until 3 hours had passed to call them for an update. They said it wasn't done. I called again at the 4 hour mark, but it wasn't done... I called again at the 5.5 hour mark and they said it still wasn't done. I dropped my car off at 9:30am and I wasn't able to pick it up until they closed at 6pm... 6.5 hours past when they told me it would be ready... I was charged more than I was quoted, which was upsetting, but since I was already upset with waiting 8.5 hours without any updates, I just wanted to get out of there. I waited until the morning to inspect the tint as it was too dark when I picked it up. They did not take any time to clean up after the tint, leaving water marks all over the windows. There were bubbles in the tint, but I gave it time to settle. After 3 weeks the bubbles still didn't go away so I called back. They asked what happened and why it was bubbling... I asked them the same thing since they are the professionals. When I asked to bring it in over the weekend they told me they were really busy and they would try... Since I couldn't trust that my car would be ready in 2 or 8 hours, I decided to wait until I felt they would actually make the time to service my car with the attention it deserved. When I finally brought it back in they checked my car and brought it back to redo the tinting. They told me it would take an hour and they would call me when it was done. At the 2 hour mark I called them and they said it was ready. The tint is still settling but it looks good so far. I paid for not only window tint services, but Customer Service, which I do not feel I got here. If I had known what my experience would have been like, I would have taken it somewhere else and spent my money at a business that shows they care about each of their customers. read more

I went to Shiled-X a few weeks ago to get a full tint on my Corolla. Ended up going for the 20% tint all over. When they finished tinting my car, I noticed that 2 windows were bubbly. The guy at shop told me I had to wait at least 2 weeks for the tint film to set properly, if after 2 weeks the bubbles were still there, he said they would fix it. I waited and went back after 2 weeks (bubbles were still there) and the guy at the shop said "no problem, we will fix" and I thought "ok, cool". So they ended up replacing the tint film on those two windows (driver side front & driver side back). But instead of installing 20% like the rest of windows have, they installed a 15% or 5% tint, not sure, I just know it's a darker tint on those 2 windows then what I have in the rest on my car. Bottom line......DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE GUYS...you want something done right????? Find a place that is more professional and more experienced. Obviously these guys don't know how to distinguish the different levels of tint. read more

So 2 hours later, we return, car not out front, so I thought "Maybe they're finishing it up now." Looked in the garage, car sitting out back, no tinted windows. They hadn't even touched the car. The lady comes back to the desk and says "Oh, we'll start on it in about 20 minutes. I can drive you home." I said "No, but how about a discount?" She wouldn't budge.
