Very mediocre. Did a catering order for a business lunch - the meats especially were blah, extremely dry and lacking flavor. The chicken was better than the pulled pork, which looked really unpleasant, sort of "frizzled" in appearance. To top it off - we were shorted on a pan of beans. It was hardly half full. This place was so great...such a gem to eat at. I'm really glad I tried it. You order at the window and they bring it to your table when it's ready. No frills and an easy menu to order from. I had the jalapeno sausage, brisket, spoon bread, and green chili mac and cheese. I was blown away from all of it! Jalapeno sausage was full of flavor and almost didn't need any sauces. I saw this place as I drove into town, and after checking Yelp, decided to give it a try. I ordered the ribs and meat plate. This plate came with 4 pork ribs, one choice of other meat, and two sides. I asked the cashier what kind of ribs came with this order. She wasn't sure. She guessed they were baby back ribs. They weren't. I ordered sliced brisket, they charged me an extra $2 for that choice. I also ordered coleslaw, tomato cucumber salad and a drink. Almost $30 later my food came out. The ribs looked great and the brisket looked great, but they were the thinnest slices of meat that I've ever received on a plate. Also, after having paid a premium for the brisket I thought a slightly larger portion would have been appropriate. It tasted great, but I couldn't judge properly because it was so thin. The ribs were St Louis style, not baby back. They tasted delicious and had the perfect amount of pull to them. The big surprise for me was the coleslaw and the cucumber tomato salad. Both of which were amazing. The coleslaw was mild, fresh and tasty. I added a little splash of their vinegar based "Tangy" bbq sauce to it and I thought that kicked it up a notch. The 1st time we came to Shigs in Pit, we got into Fort Wayne 5 minutes after they closed. We were so intrigued by the name, we knew we had to return. Fast forward to a year later, I had business in Fort Wayne again, so we made sure we got into town early and we were not disappointed. I had 10 of the baked Buffalo chicken wings and my wife had the two meat plate, chosing Jalapeno sausage and Beef Brisket. The chicken wings were cooked to perfection and their version of the Buffalo sauce was different than any I had tried. It was sweeter than spicy and was quite delicious. My wife enjoyed the Jalapeno sausage, but the brisket was a little dry. The Green Chillies Mac & cheese and spoon corn bread were outstanding. The people here are all wearing mask and social distancing is evident, with tables closed off. All in all, we had a pleasant and safe experience and will be back. read more

Hard to find ribs any better anywhere in the country. Their sides are delicious, especially the spoon cornbread and the baked beans. They team with Mad Anthony Brewery, so they have good beer,too. Just skip this place. We were there on a Sunday and I got a rib tip dinner? Basket? Not sure. Anyway, the tips were dry and greasy at the same time. I also got some sort of potato casserole that had cornflakes on the top. It too, was oily. The sauces that were on the table were good. Pretty great BBQ joint in Fort Wayne--who knew!!! Our party of five sampled a little bit of just about everything and we were absolutely not disappointed. Unfortunately, they were out of burnt ends on our visit (which is reason enough for me to go back someday), but the brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs were all smokey good. However, my favorite part of the meal was the "corn bread", which is really more like a corn casserole, but completely delicious. First of all, the name is hilarious! A couple friends and I were staying down the road in an Airbnb and saw this place on the way in. BBQ always sounds good so we were like sure! We ordered to go, which was easy to do on the online platform, and it was ready on time and the staff was very pleasant. I got the pulled pork dinner with green Chile macaroni and potato casserole. We planned to have a graduation party for my grand daughter. We wanted good food so my daughter ordered food for fifty from pigs and Shigs. The most disappointing thing I can ever remember is that they did not deliver any of the food ordered. My daughter called the day before the party and was reassured that the order would be delivered but none came. I think this happened because they were expected to pay a commission to the park dept as it was held at one of their pavilions. So because they were not going to make enough money they just stood us up. Worse yet we are all good cooks and could have easily done our own cooking but because it was a requirement of the Parks Department we ordered From Pigs and Shigs. Workers here are really friendly and great! We stopped before our trip home and I had a two meat dinner with brisket, sausage and two sides of Mac and garlic bread. Loved it all, finished pretty much everything except for a bite of mac. A lot of times mac and cheese I get at bbq places is kind of dry, but this was delicious and creamy. On the way home from a recent business trip, my crew decided to stop by here for some award winning BBQ...so glad we did! Our original lunch plans had fallen through, so (on the fly) I searched Fort Wayne's barbecue scene and stumbled across this place. We knew we hit pay-dirt when we walked up the back parking lot and there sat a smoker cranking away. Win! The inside was decorated fairly minimally, except for the huge pile of awards and trophys on display in the middle of the dining room...another good sign. ;-) You order at the window and then they call you up to get your food. Plenty of dining tables are available as well as an outdoor patio. I ordered a mixed meat plate along with two sides and a banana pudding for dessert. Let's start with the meats...ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were firm and well smoked (had to work to get them off the bone which is my preference) and the pulled pork was moist with great flavor. As for their sauces...the "original" was thick but too sweet, "tangy" was thin but great vinegar tang, "hot" was thick with a mild kick...combining the hot and tangy was the best combo I discovered. The sides were excellent...smoky, spicy baked beans and a creamy, spicy green chile mac-n-cheese. The banana pudding was only real disappointment with my meal, as there were no real bananas in it (seems like an important oversight). All in all I really loved this place, especially since the meal (as a whole) was rock solid. Would definitely return, should I ever get the chance. read more
