We ordered spicy tuna rolls, spider rolls, vegetable gyoza, a rainbow roll, yellowtail/hamachi, and an avocado bomb, all for delivery by door dash. The door dash guy did a fine job. I opened the door when he arrived and he was pleasant. The spicy tuna rolls were ok. Definitely spicy. The hamachi sushi was good as well. My date ate all the vegetable gyoza and I presume it was also delicious. The rainbow roll was a regular rainbow roll, and I think it was large, but not too large. didn't like the avocado bomb that much. It was good size, and cut into quarters with a breaded crust around it, but hard to dip in soy sauce, and almost too Much to eat in one bite. I thought the spider roll had way too much breading on it. It all came with plenty of pickled ginger and wasabi. I believe there is a default for no utensils when you order so you might want to look for that when you order. They are closed during mid afternoon and open at 7:30pm. So no late afternoon Sushi if you are looking for a snack then. Good take out overall but a few things I would not order again: the avocado bomb, and the spider roll. read more

We have been coming here for quite awhile and loved it. Then the other night when we came in a short hostess did not even greet us. Instead she grabbed menus and turned and walked to the back, set the menus on the table, and continued on into the kitchen.... WITHOUT WORD. We've been coming here long enough to know we prefer to sit on the side of the sushi bar so we took our menus and walked around to the other side of the restaurant and chose a different table. The waitress came over and we explained what happened and she then told the hostess who gave us dirty looks and whispered about us to other staff. Then the waitress ignored us. I had the worst service here last night. After ordering sushi to go, I unpacked it to put it in my cooler. I realized the order was missing something and went back inside. It was all downhill from there. After asking for the missing item, they told me to bring all the bags in so they could check. However, it was all packed in the cooler but I let them know they could come check. They looked at me like I was a scam artist and claimed i didn't order the item. However, I had written it down so it was right there in front of them! They then rudely told me they gave me the wrong item, then I would have to bring it back for them to make me the correct item. I brought it back and said the service was poor and it was weird they were having me bring back the incorrect item before they made my order correctly, especially since they were just going to throw it away. She then said, "We aren't going to throw it away." THEY ARE RE-SERVING RAW FISH THAT HAS BEEN RETURNED. This is disgusting--what if it was sitting in someone's car for a while, or they spit in it or touched it, etc? TLDR - they treat you like you are in the wrong when you ask nicely for them to correct your order, then give returned manhandled food to the next guest. read more

I'll love the food here and especially the sushi, but recently I have had wait times well over an hour for take out. Additionally, their phones have been sending to voicemail when I would like to get an update on a 70+ minute wait time. When I asked at pickup, I was told by the hostess that management decides to deactivate the phone at dinner hours, leaving no way to get an update or even cancel an order. I would very much appreciate if this practice was stopped and that there were a way to tell the wait time before ordering on their website. Been here a few times and each time got something different, each time I was left disappointed. I lived in Japan for 8 years and this "Japanese" restaurant does not come close to good. The food is always not up to par, especially this time when I got two beef teriyaki plates, which costs $22 each. The meat was boiled and the slices of meat were a mix between rare and medium and not to mention cold in the middle. on the second plate most slices were barely medium rare , if that, not to mention cold to the touch. When a new place opens in Walla Walla, I just have to roll on in for a try. We were seated promptly, as we had reservations. However, I did notice a couple who came in at a table near us and decided to leave after waiting to have their orders taken. Yes, it was a bit of a wait between the time we were seated and the time that our orders were taken, but nothing that was too overwhelming, and our waitress was so kind and welcoming. I had the miso soup for starters and then the House Special roll. The miso soup had great flavor. I also had a taste of my hubby's squid salad, which was really yummy. The House Special roll was warm, and since I'm used to my raw fish in a roll being on the cool side, I was a bit worried that this might be time the toilet beckons in the middle of the night, but it wasn't. The roll really melted in my mouth, and I enjoyed it. One thing that I absolutely loved about this roll was that the pieces were cut so that I didn't feel as though I'd put a whole fish into my mouth. I'm a sushi person. Let's just get that out of the way first. I've had sushi all across America, Japan, and Hawaii, so I like to think I know a little bit about how good sushi can get. And let me just say as a local of 21 years, Shiki is the only place in Walla Walla I ever want to go for sushi. The ambience gets a solid 4/5 for me; I love their aesthetic and varied music (from jazz to some solid wake up jams; I suppose that can be a little weird to some people but odd music arrangements are a personal favorite of mine), but as my friends and I have noticed, they need to update the menus pretty soon; you can definitely tell they were well-loved and are somewhat illegible in places. Minor nitpick, I know, but menus are vital to a restaurant. The staff is an actual blessing on this earth - so much so that I often get nervous that I'll come across as rude to them. (This is out of character for me; I'm usually not concerned with how I come off to people, but wow, these guys make me care.) I love the staff and they're so accommodating of rowdy large parties. For real, if I hear someone's been mean to the Shiki staff they're probably not anyone I wanna hang around, at least as of 2017-2018. Food recommendations: Appetizers: Naruto - My absolute favorite appetizer hands down; the cucumber is very refreshing and the sauce is light but highly addictive; doesn't leave you uncomfortably full before your meal but is substantial. When I think of the perfect appetizer in general I think of the Naruto. Mushroom Onion Soup - Perhaps an acquired taste, but I love the savoriness of it with the rest of the restaurant's food. Two other friends of mine also love this soup, but if you wanna stick with a classic, I give their Miso a 4/5. Sushi: Volcano Roll - Mildly spicy and delicious; the picture is intimidating but I order this 9 times out of 10. Ninja Roll - Great crunchy roll with slightly smaller cut pieces; easier to eat than most other rolls. As a side note, randomly picking a roll works well here. Others - Not speaking from experience because I only order the sushi here, but my friends who dislike sushi seem to go pretty wild over the Yaki Soba. Someday I'll try it out. Desserts: Green Tea (Matcha) Deep Fried Ice Cream - LOVE this. Although they go pretty wild with chocolate sauce and whipped cream on top; I would recommend asking without or with a lesser amounts But dang, this thing is bonkers. Lately I've noticed the batter getting a more bready consistency that I don't enjoy as much as before, but even so I enjoy this way too much. Haven't experienced what the bar is like yet, but when I do I'll update. read more

Sat down at the table and was not offered water or anything for almost 5 minutes. Ordered water and soda, water arrived quickly but the soda was almost 5 minutes. Ordered our rolls, pork gyoza, and salad. Salad arrived, we ate it, after 15 minutes I asked about the gyoza, was told it was cooking. 5 minutes later gyoza arrived.
