The area this hotel is in is a bit sketchy but that's no fault of the hotel, just be aware when walking around especially at night.

There is nowhere to put your stuff other than the ground. the patio: half was closed and what was there were just a few tables and chairs. The staff: friendly but cannot compensate for the state of the rooms. We survived one night with the worst sleep while still wearing earplugs. We abandoned the rest of our stay and are eating the cost even though we did ask for a refund. We asked both the front desk and were instructed to email the generic line. We have not gotten a response.

I asked if I could help him and he excitedly responded, "Oh! Em, I'm just confirming that this room is occupied." I assured him it was and he scurried off down the hallway talking to someone on his radio. This was before the literal garbage fire. The hotel sits on the edge of less than savory part of town. In fact, our room overlooked a park that is frequented by unhoused people. This, in and of itself, wasn't a problem -- this part of town has several drop in clinics that become gathering points for unhoused people. It became a problem when, at 11 pm, I opened the curtains for one last look at the city, only to be treated by a trashcan in the park outside our window spewing smoke. Just as I picked up the phone to call Guest Services, the thing erupted into flames. There are trees in this park whose trunks are firmly planted in the turf across the street, but whose limbs brush against the hotel, so I wanted to be sure this was resolved before going to bed. When I told guest services about the fire, I was challenge with, "well, is it on hotel property?" I explained it wasn't, but it was just outside of our window, and the front desk staff advised me to call the non emergency line for the fire department. Now, we're from out of town -- thus our needing a hotel to sleep in for the night -- and deferring to the out-of-towners to report a fire close to the hotel seems a bit less than responsible; we don't know street names, or of this is a common enough occurrence with which to bother the fire department. I told the the fire department that I had called the front desk, and that they handed the task of calling off to me, and the dispatcher's response was a sarcastic, "oh, that's convenient for them. Well it looks like someone -- not your hotel -- called the fire in, so the firefighters are already en route." Was this an anomalous chain of very strange events? Maybe. But it's all left us feeling a more than a little uneasy.

Instead it's usually just me looking for the elevator, but still... the vibe is excellent. Parking is on the next block over and surprisingly easy, which in Portland counts as a minor miracle. I've spent more time looking for parking at grocery stores. Now let's talk about the Driftwood Bar. Do not skip it. Curt the bartender is the kind of guy who makes you want to cancel your plans and just sit there all evening solving the world's problems over a well-made drink. Friendly, funny, and he actually knows how to make a proper cocktail. I wish I had more time to just saddle up to the bar and chat with him. Breakfast at Gracie's was also great. Our waitress Erin took care of us Wednesday morning when the place was mostly empty. Service was friendly, the food looked like someone actually cared when they put it on the plate, and the prices were totally reasonable. No $38 "artisanal avocado toast with existential despair." Just good breakfast done right. So what more do you want? Comfortable clean bed, reasonable prices, great bar, solid breakfast, and you're right in the heart of Portland. The greeting was subpar (which was one of my favorite moments of each stay) and then what I experienced in my room was well below the standard I would expect: cracked window, scudge coming down the bathroom drain, stained carpet, a slip cover on the couch because the couch was in such bad shape, etc. I ran into the manager in the elevator and shared what I was experiencing and invited him to see the room. Instead of moving me to a different room, he offered an upgrade for my next visit. Why would I come back. In addition, he shared that the front desk person isn't great at hospitality and she is leaving. This is his hotel... and he threw her under the bus. There were many more moments: Going to get my car only to find the garage door locked. Someone should have let me know to call in advance to have access to my car - I was carrying all my bags and had to walk back to the hotel. And my experience with the bar service and food was subpar. I will not be returning.

Overall this hotel was an average hotel I picked it because it was for Amex and I needed to use my credit before the year-end. During our stay, the fire alarm went off and that was insanely loud. No one can sleep through that. Gladly when we came down to the lobby they stated that it was a false alarm. Soon after about an hour or so we got a text message saying that it was a false alarm. I did enjoy the breakfast here at the lobby! That was actually pretty delicious and I would say to try it out. The beds and comfortable and you can also bring your dog into this hotel which is kind of cool! That was a bonus seeing all the different-sized dogs roaming around.

It was generally quiet in the room, though you could hear the light rail go by. Wasn't a huge fan of the fact that the mini fridge was full of things that if I touched it would charged my room. So when you come in, pass the valet riveters to the left, and take the elevator up. The check-in process was fast, but the elevators took longer than they did. To access the elevators to the room floors, you need a key unless you're going down to the 1st floor or lobby. There's a restaurant on the 15th floor that had a line at the elevator because they wanted to access it without a key, and I think that's what kept the elevator area busy. The rooms are pretty big and spacious, with your usual amenities and mini-bar items. The couch was a good size. However, the TV does not move, so if you are on the couch and watching TV, the angle is sideways. The in-room dining menu is limited, with little selection, and even the restaurant/bar behind the lobby has a limited food menu. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were very flat when you lay on them. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and nice

I rented the ultimate dance party bounce house with an attached slide, and it was a hit! Larger than life, super colorful, disco ball and amazing light show inside the house. I was able to play music from my phone via Bluetooth for the ultimate party experience. The delivery and set up was pretty seamless. I didn't have to lift a finger. Benjamin and Kathryn were very respectful of my home and yard, very friendly and non-intrusive. I will definitely be using them and recommending them to everyone I know!

I did not stay here and based on what I have learned I will not stay at any Shilo Inn until the CEO grows up and contributes positively to society. Here is what I learned listening to CItyCast Portland and readig their newsletter: "A nearly $400k debt for preschool tax: The city is going to court to collect the taxes from the multimillionaire Mark Hemstreet, in his mid-70s, who owns the Shilo Inn chain. He has refused to pay $355,000 for the 2023 preschool tax -- including interest and penalties -- as well as $120,000 for the regional homelessness service tax." (source: Rachel Monahan, CityCast Portland) So, yeah, if you're a corporation and you won't contribute to the upkeep of the community in which you operate, then I don't want to support your business. read more

We had an issue with one of the doorlocks at 10pm at night and the manager came over right away, fixed it and tested it to ensure it was completely fixed (I'm sorry I forgot your name so we'll just call you Superwoman:). Yolonda is awesome she has warm smile and had some great recommendations. I'm sorry we didn't stay more days but we will defintley book a week next time we come to Hillsboro. They did a good job keeping it stocked, even up to closing time for the late stragglers. I would whole heartedly recommend The Grand Hotel. It's located in a nice area with plenty of shopping and things to do. An excellent stay, for sure.

I hate ants. Two vouchers were given to us for breakfast for the three of us. For our second stay, McKenzie check us in. McKenzie was great! She was friendly. She gave us a room with no balcony and no ants. The room was a larger than the week prior. Three breakfast vouchers were given to the three of us. The breakfast is served downstairs. They allow you to order one main dish and partake of their AYCE Euro breakfast buffet. The breakfast vouchers are for $10. The main dishes all cost $15. So you do have to pay the remainder plus tip. We paid an extra $19 for our first visit. During our second visit, we did not pay extra. I'm not going to ask. The gym is located on the second floor. Treadmills, ellipticals and bikes are available for cardio. Dumbbells are there for you to lift. One good stay. One not so good stay. Sounds like 3 stars to me.

In 2026 the breakfast is $15 a person at this AC hotel in Lake Oswego. I used to go to this hotel for Thanksgiving and other special events prior to the hotel ownership change about a year ago. I regret I hadn't tried this place earlier because it's a close breakfast option to home. I only wish it would go until noon on weekends because it's definitely a relaxed spot to linger on a slow Sunday morning. Breakfast ends at 11 am but I suggest going by 10 am so you can enjoy your breakfast without feeling rushed. The $15 includes a choice of an entree such as French toast and berries, pancakes, spinach egg toast, or pork and eggs. I stayed at an AC Hotel in Maui in 2023 and first learned about their breakfast plan. From the outside the buffet looks slim. Just a few pastries in a basket and a fancy prosciutto slicing machine. Many people opt to go for breakfast someplace else because they don't like the additional charge for breakfast that's not included with the hotel stay. However, many guests and visitors do not realize that the cost for breakfast includes the buffet, drinks, and a main entree choice. Breakfast selection is an entree, but also included is an extra breakfast buffet that includes gourmet cheeses, hard boiled eggs, Chobani yogurt, fruit, croissants, churros, pastries, scones, and prosciutto. The amount of food you get is a fantastic value and definitely makes more sense to purchase than just grab and go coffee in the lobby for $6. Staff were pleasant and the food service was fast. Breakfast ends at 11 though and they were turning the lights off by 11:25 am. I am a slow eater so my only complaint was that I felt a bit rushed, but I think some of their shifts literally finished by 11 am. I really loved eating here. I'm going to be adding this place as a brunch spot with family and friends. It's better than a normal hotel breakfast and the food was really delicious.

Coincidentally, this Hotel was built by the Construction Company that my Son's mother used to work for. It was a nice place, albeit not that busy, and perhaps waiting for more Beaverton growth to take off. My room was comfortable, provided a good night's sleep, with strong WiFi, and a good hot shower. The breakfast selections were much better than expected, and the coffee was better than hotel average. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unlike the typically small hotel rooms in Japan, the accommodations here are wonderfully large. Each room features a walk-in shower, a separate soaking tub, a coffee maker, a small refrigerator, and a Japanese-style bidet toilet (or washlet) that will make you want to buy one for your own home. Near the ground floor elevators, you will find complimentary coffee and lemon water. From the moment you walk through the black entrance doors, the front desk staff greets you with warmth and friendliness. Around the corner you will find a self-service store that sells gifts, souvenirs, Japanese apparel, drinks, and snacks at very reasonable prices--reminiscent of actual retail rates in Japan rather than standard inflated US hotel prices. They even sell swimwear in case you forgot yours. The property features separate men's and women's indoor Onsen-style baths where swimsuits are optional (unlike in Japan, where they are strictly prohibited). Please note that guests must be at least 14 years old to enter the baths, a departure from traditional Japanese onsens which allow younger children with parents. The grounds are beautiful, boasting a lovely indoor koi pond and stunning Japanese landscaping in the backside which you can see from the restaurant. For dining, the on-site restaurant, Waterfalls, serves an excellent mix of Japanese and American cuisine, and their Sake bar offers a fantastic variety of sakes where you can purchase by the glass, flask or purchase the bottle. I was actually amazed to learn that the building was built in the 1920's, and the cottage we stayed in was once a garage for performing tire changes on early automobiles as the traveled the old highway. The lodge is across the street from a small hike which has several places to look out towards the water, and a great place to enjoy the sunset, as well as a small hike to view Bridal Veil Falls. There is also a lovely longer waterfall hike just two miles up the road that also survived the fires last year.

This was my first visit and stay at WorldMark Portland in the Old Town/Chinatown area (7/8/26 to…read more7/10/26). The property faces Waterfront Park along SW Naito Parkway at the corner of SW Pine St. I was able to book this brief stay online on 6/26/26. After parking nearby, the perimeter and entrance was clean and staffed with upbeat doormen. I checked in around 530pm Wednesday at the front desk and then was directed to the concierge area where I received a VIP gift, helpful tips and recommendations which was greatly appreciated. I wished I had noted her name - she was a standout with her professional and personable demeanor. I checked out by 845am Friday and it was straightforward. I stayed at a studio unit while reacquainting myself with Portland. After WorldMark/Wyndham stays at Depoe Bay, OR in 2024 and Long Beach, WA in 2025, this was a welcomed improvement. The main lobby was clean with pleasant indoor decor and seating. There's also a mini market, exercise, and laundry facilities on the main level. I appreciated the information kiosk area where one can pick up maps, activity, and destination flyers. Overall a well maintained property from perimeter, entrance, lobby, elevators, and the room I stayed in. Despite that I was within proximity of the elevator, my stay was safe and comfortable. Quiet, respectful guests above, below, and adjacent sides. Good sound proofing with faint traffic noise (just some random fireworks and an early AM train) and light blocking blinds. My studio room had a well appointed bathroom (great shower!), streamlined but well stocked kitchenette, nice modern layout with the furniture, lighting, AC, and flat screen (great viewing of a FIFA World Cup match). I appreciated that the Murphy bed was already pulled down, couch cushions set aside. However, the bed itself was not comfortable. I later found out upon checkout, that a board could have been provided to add more support. Next year, all rooms with this set up will be replaced with new mattresses. There's also limited and oddly placed outlets. Pro tip: there is no onsite parking. Valet parking is $50/day. I ended up using the AirGarage at 95 SW Pine St, which is literally around the corner and across the street from WorldMark PDX. One can book online via airgarage.com or use the QR code or pay station at the corner. I paid $19.50/day with a 65 cents payment processing fee. The night before checkout, I moved my car before midnight and found a street parking spot adjacent to WorldMark PDX. No payment required overnight. I had downloaded the Parking Kitty app and screenshot the specific parking area number. Starting at 8am, parking payment is required. Checkout from WorldMark is 11am. There are various sights, retail businesses, and cafes/bars/restaurants nearby. Folks get around on foot, roller blade/skates, bike, bus, and streetcar, light rail, and car. I did not see much in the way of rentable lime bikes or scooters, or uber lifts. Just exercise common sense and be aware of your surroundings when out and about. Decent location for an urban getaway.
