Our first day back this winter & the family said let's go see J.R. Dad. J.R. Is one of the two founders & considered by many as a Sushi genius. There are new item menus, this season of course I had to try one and if you had to ask me the name of it I can't speak it right now cause I just got done walking however it was phenomenal. I let my daughter and wife do the ordering, but I ordered my own roll. Service impeccable, food, impeccable ambience perfect. It's the greatest Sushi spot... Funny thing is I just walked in the house from a 5 mile walk. Found my wife and daughter eating Shima sushi carryout tonight two nights in a row. We've had Shima way to go Jr...

Personally think this is the best sushi/asian fusion place in the keys. The portions are pretty big, fish is very fresh, staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, interior is modern Japanese. My favorite dish would probably be the tuna fried rice BUT we only tried 4 dishes so I would definitely try the pork belly rice next time.

Very well run establishment with the perfect mix of attentive professional service, high quality fish, carefully presented flavors and high quality libations. Charming restaurant in a strip mall near mile marker 88. Busy on a Saturday and I called earlier in the day and was told they were booked out. Appreciated the management's honesty and said maybe next time. An hour later they called back stating they had a cancel and could welcome us at a convenient time (big move in my book). Waiter (Nikko) was very warm and helpful with suggestions and selecting the meal. We had cocktails and appetizers and they were all high end. Then came the steady parade of high end sushi and rolls that was delicious. Highly recommend this spot if you are traveling through or staying in the area. You wont be disappointed.

Went here for dinner after seeing an instagram video recommending it. My fiance and I are sushi fanatics and this was easily the best sushi we have ever had. We both looked at each other after one bite and were truly speechless. We will most definitely be back & recommending to others. The champagne cocktails are phenomenal as well!

Run, don't walk and get you some of the most delicious food ever. We saw a post on social media leading us here and boy did we make the right decision. Absolutely amazing. The food was next level good with some of the best sushi you'll have in South Florida. Ambiance was great, we sat at the bar where we got some great recommendations. We ate a lot and enjoyed everything. The Bao Buns with soft shell crab...OMG. I just sat with my eyes closed enjoying the food. ALL the rolls were fantastic! The crispy rice with the spicy tuna...chef's kiss. Great place, great people... you'll thank me later. And yes, after all that food we had dessert that will have me coming back twice in one week!

Im from WI and ate here in 2023 on a grad school spring break trip with my friend twice on our time in the Keys, it was THAT good. I was so excited to bring my daughter and new husband here for our honeymoon. Everything was just as good as I remembered it. The flavors of all of the dishes were amazing. The food came out quickly and the server was very personable and kind. The sushi is soo good but honestly the Pistachio tiramisu was the star and one of the best desserts I've ever had. I will come to the Keys again just to eat here. I highly recommend coming here!

Food was amazing we had the spicy tuna crispy roll and the shrimp dumpling miso soup (on the spicy side) both were delicious! We then had 2 rolls - blue fin and rainbow presentation was beautiful and rolls were fresh! Small place so make sure you have reservations. Service was very good too!!

Very fresh and delicious salmon bowl! I'm not vegetarian, but I wish they had better veg roll options for my veg head friends. Otherwise great and fresh food... Don't be shy with the tofu!

    Chicken and waffles

Visited for the first time, food was delicious and very fresh! The service was great too. They were very helpful in guiding us thru the menu and were so eager to make our experience memorable. I'm allergic to some things on the menu, so I opted for the chicken and waffles in a sushi bar, which, i know is adventurous. It was excellent! I asked for the sauces on the side and it was perfect. I'm glad they had the option. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. We will visit again soon.

The place is in a run down, almost empty plaza -1st flag It's a small, dirty place - almost no other customers there -2nd flag We order 2 of the crispy tuna and 1 gyoza. Gyoza was ok. The crispy tuna was terrible. I kept one because I felt bad sending both back to the kitchen, but the other one we sent back and ordered a crunchy JB roll instead. Waiting a long time , and when it finally arrived- it was beep fried in thick batter. Like they never heard of tempura? She never came back to check on us. And when the bill came, she didn't provide me with a receipt , just the electronic reader with an amount. I asked if I could see the receipt and she pretended she couldn't understand me. I asked if I was being charged for the returned item and was told no. She stayed staring at me to make sure I put a tip before she walked away. Latter, I checked, and I had been charged for the returned item. They also sat us by a curtained off space in the wall with seemed to lead to a storage space in a lived in apartment. Were they living there? Now I have to fight to get a refund without a receipt. Just don't go there. Terrible in every aspect

Friendly, attentive, and the kind of service that makes a meal feel more relaxed. Good energy from the start. We ordered a lot, so here is the full breakdown. The miso soup was exactly what miso soup should be. Simple, warm, and good. No surprises. The green salad was basic. Big chunks of lettuce that I would have preferred a little more finely cut, but it was refreshing and grew on me as I kept eating it throughout the meal. The spider roll was a highlight. Light, clean, and did not leave that heavy feeling you sometimes get from rolls that are overdone. It felt like a healthier version of what you usually find and that is a compliment. The lemonade was genuinely good. Flavorful and not overly sweet. Worth ordering. The combo platter came with a shrimp roll, an egg roll, and a fried dumpling. The shrimp roll was the standout, fat juicy shrimp with a sweet chili sauce that worked well. The egg roll tasted good and the dumpling was solid, though a little light on the filling inside. Still enjoyable. The shrimp pad see ew was really good. Nice shrimp, good sauce, well executed. The beef fried rice had solid flavor and did not feel heavy or oily, which matters more than people give it credit for. Overall Num Thai delivered a genuinely enjoyable meal. We will be back.

The restaurant was not completely packed so I honestly don't even know what to owe the experience to. Seating was actually quite nice by the water and you can even pull up in your boat. It has a chill, laid back atmosphere. We were seated quickly as there was a table open, and our server came and took our drink orders...It was almost from the get to, our server just wasn't listening to us. My husband ordered a Corona and I ordered a coke, he repeated it back as just water, and I repeated myself, No a coke please... A few minutes later he came back with drinks...and my Coke was actually a diet Coke, at this point, I just sucked it up and kept my mouth shut because I was thirsty. We ordered appetizers...my husband ordered chicken wings, emphasizing the heat level to be Hot...he repeated back the order and he said ok chicken wings mild, again we repeated ourselves, no not mild...please make them hot. I also ordered a side of fries because unfortunately there are no vegetarian appetizers on the menu. Our apps arrived, fries were great, but lo and behold, the chicken wings were totally mild. No biggie - at this point- I am still optimistic...we were able to get the server's attention and asked for another Corona and a side of hot sauce, we also ordered our meals since we didn't think there would be such an issue with the hot sauce and beer...while we wait approx 10-15 minutes our food arrives but we never saw our server again with the Corona or hot sauce, my soda was empty at this point and the majority of the chicken wings were untouched since he didn't have hot sauce or anything to wash it down with. Also to add, my veggie roll came with no soy sauce or chopsticks...just the dish with the roll and the ginger and wasabi...so we waited another 10-15 minutes with just our food sitting in front of us untouched until a girl running food from the kitchen noticed and asked what was wrong...we proceeded to explain that our server was just terrible. A bus boy also notices and joins our conversation and they both ask if we would like to speak to the manager. Prior to the manager arriving, our server finally shows up and while I am trying to explain everything we need, he literally starts walking away while I am talking and just keeps talking to me over his shoulder. I was like what is going on here? I couldn't even order another soda because at this point that was empty too...We ate our meals because we were hungry but the veggie roll was just meh and the mahi tacos were obviously quite cold by the time we were able to consume our meal The manager came over, we expressed our concerns, meal was comp'd (not our intention) - we walked out and will never be walking back in again.

The restaurant is lovely inside. Tastefully decorated. Not at all what you would expect from its strip location off the highway. The dish was a much larger portion than expected. And the fish was thickly cut and very fresh. He had a house sake with his fish. I had a Kanisu roll. It was perfectly wrapped with cucumber and stayed together when biting into it. As usual, it was in sunomono sauce and very refreshing. After that I had a shrimp tempura hand roll. I requested no spicy mayo. I asked what was in it and it was a bit different when I hit it than described -- with an added piece of krab stick. Still, it was good and was just the other bite I needed. So far all the Sushi Sake restaurants have been consistent across all locations. Good to know.

The only challenge was parking. The spaces were pretty tight, and several cars were parked over the lines, making it a little difficult to find a spot. Luckily, just as we arrived, someone was leaving, so it felt like it was meant to be. We walked in without a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The host gave us a warm welcome, and we were lucky enough to get a table outside with a stunning oceanfront view. The scenery alone made the visit worthwhile. Before arriving, I had looked over the menu and was happy to see they offered vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. I ordered the pasta with mushrooms, which was prepared with olive oil instead of a cream-based sauce. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My niece ordered the Chicken Key West, which is similar to chicken Parmesan, and my sister had the house salad. Since pasta comes with a choice of soup or salad, I opted for the salad as well. One of the most memorable parts of the experience happened shortly after we sat down. The staff tossed leftover fish scraps into the water, attracting several large fish right below the restaurant. Watching them feed was such a unique and entertaining experience that added to the charm of dining by the water. Another little touch that I loved was when I went to the restroom. They had a locally made salt sugar scrub available for purchase, and it smelled so good that we ended up buying one to take home. I always appreciate when restaurants support local businesses. They also had complimentary key lime mints, which were absolutely delicious and such a fun Florida Keys touch. Our waiter was fantastic throughout the entire meal. He was attentive, friendly, and efficient. He kept our water glasses full, brought out bread promptly, checked on us regularly, and had the check ready as soon as we were finished. The food also arrived at a great pace. Unfortunately, I couldn't try any of their cocktails since I had to drive back to Miami afterward, but they looked delicious. Hopefully, on my next trip to the Keys, I'll be able to stay longer and enjoy one of their drinks. Overall, Lazy Days South has that classic old-Florida, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming and timeless. Between the beautiful ocean views, good food, unique waterfront experience, thoughtful local touches, and excellent service, it's definitely a place I'll be returning to on my next visit to the Keys.

However, the restaurant itself didn't seem particularly busy, with plenty of open tables throughout our visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes before our drink and food order was taken, and it took a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time we were seated until our food arrived. The food itself was mediocre and bland, especially after such a long wait. Inside, several tables remained unbussed, so we chose to sit outside. Unfortunately, the fan and light above our table weren't working, making the outdoor seating extremely hot and uncomfortable, even at 8 PM. I understand that busy nights happen, but the combination of the long wait, average food, maintenance issues, and overall lack of attention to the dining experience made this a disappointing visit.
