The service was excellent I can't afford to pay for gel or dip but I love treating myself. I didn't pay a lot because I always just get a regular nail polish change. Tina was wonderful. She let me sit in a massage chair for 15 minutes after getting my nails done and brought everything to the chair for me so I wouldn't ruin my nails! Getting a chair massage is always the highlight of coming to a salon for me. She was very loving and kind and I would definitely come back here. read more

I'm new to this area and a friend recommended Shiny Nails on 59th Ave since she's been going there for years. It was easy to get in on a Saturday afternoon, which I was so pleased about since I had just decided to go! It's a small, but cozy and comfortable nail salon. I was greeted warmly by Tina and they got me in a pedi chair right away. The water was just the right temperature and I started to relax immediately. Linh was my pedicure guy that I will forever request! I got the hot stone option and it felt like he knew reflexology with the foot massage he gave me! I could've melted right in that chair ! I just got regular polish and he did a beautiful job. I then got promoted to sit in the mani chair with Tina. I just got clear polish and a cuticle clean up. She didn't press me for more. So cordial and aware of client needs and ensuring we are properly situated. I felt very well taken care of by this team and I will definitely be back. If you are wishing you had a friend to recommend a nail salon, consider this the one! read more

Went here for an eyebrow wax and had an amazing experience! I had to bring my 2 sons(3 year old and 5 month old) since Im a stay at home mom and they were so gracious about. Gave my son water and helped him drink it and even did my eyebrows in the massage chair so I could easily be with my sons. They were so sweet to my boys. I've known Tina for 20 years. In those years of going to her salon I've always had beautiful nails and pedicures. Nikki does my pedicure and she's awesome and very gentle at removing ingrown nails and skin. Both women are very friendly and professional with wonderful personalities. I'm always welcomed with a warm smile and treated with so much respect. They make me feel like a queen. I highly recommend them. I wish I could give them a 10 star rating! Worst nail salon I've been to and I'll say why. I came in for a simple soak off of my acrylics because I was needing a break from fake nails for awhile. The nail tech started ripping off my acrylics after I asked her to please soak them off because it was too painful for me to have them ripped off. She did it anyways after I had to keep reminding her I did not want the acrylics ripped off my nail beds, I was okay with waiting longer to have them properly taken off. Second, she kept trying to get me to do SNS on my nails that same day. I politely declined and let her know I needed a break from anything on my nails for the time being. She kept trying to push it on me after I declined it 4 times. She made it very uncomfortable for me to sit there while my nails were soaking off because she wanted to add on a service I was not interested in. Lastly as I was going to pay she very rudely asked me why I wasn't paying in cash and was paying with my card instead. I was shocked, I've never experienced a nail tech question my payment method. Save your money and go to literally any other nail salon. This place has horrible service and they don't care. read more

Very Kind Staff And Very Clean!!! I stopped by On a Friday at 6:30 and was welcomed with a warm greeting and asked if I'd like to wait 5-10 mins. Was seated 10-mins afterwards and offered bottled water. Vy did my pedicure, and although they were busy, I appreciate the fact that I was not rushed. She kindly offered me the pricing sheet, and asked what Pedicure Package I wanted and proceeded to go on and work on my feet. This just may be my new spot for Pedicures!!!!! read more

I was referred to the salon by a good friend of mine. I came to do dip nails for the first time. The old product had to come off my nails in order for me to have the dip Nails which was fine. As I proceeded to ask questions about how they exactly do dip nails, he advised me to leave him alone. I was a little taken back by that, I was just trying to find out the process on how they do that. So I sat there for a while not saying too much and I kept telling that person that I wanted my nails thicker not thin. He kept saying you don't need thick nails they look better thinner and natural. The color that I chose was a light color and I had told him that I wanted it darker so it would not show my real nail underneath. And of course he did not listen he ended up filing my cuticle and made both of my fingers bleed at the same time. The index finger cuticle blood into the Polish. After I left I called the owner and told her I was not satisfied with my nails and she said if you want us to fix it come back and mediately and we will fix it for you. An hour later, I came back to the salon and got another girl named Lisa. I wanted that polish off and I wanted to redo my nails with a solid color which is what I wanted in the first place. She kept insisting that the solid colors would do the same thing and show my nail underneath. So she talked me in to painting cute little designs at the tips of them to distract what I was seeing on my nails. She proceeded to tell me, I won't charge you for this it's on me. Needless to say, I was not happy with the experience I think that I should have had my nails redone. And of course they should not charge me as I just paid them and was not satisfied. I just don't like when you go to a salon and they do not listen to you as to what you want. Good luck Shiny Nails won't be coming back. read more

Long overdue excellent review here! They always remember me and I wouldn't call myself a regular... but I guess frequent enough! I always schedule with Kathy for my manicures. I like both Kathy and Nikki for pedicures! I've had friends have great experiences with others as well though. Kathy takes her time and really makes my gel nails perfect. I went in for a repair/chipped gel once and they insisted on no money for it. Great place, friendly, busy, sometimes can be time consuming but if you go in knowing that it's no big deal. read more

Pretty disappointed. My nails look like they need a fill which is exactly what i wanted to avoid. I came in for a fill and this was my first time so I wanted to have an open mind and the lady Tina was super friendly and nice and listened but she wasn't the one who polished my nails. The salon is super small and feels crammed. I don't like the mirror that you face when getting your nails and toes done. The tech who did my gel polish kept saying she didn't want to paint to cuticle but I explained it'll look like I need a fill which it does. When she did my pedicure she didn't open up new tools so hopefully she actually disinfected them. I personally like a salon that opens up tools from a sealed disinfectant bag so I know they been cleaned properly. Most places I have gone to do this so idk why she didn't. She charged $5 extra to take off gel polish from my toes but didn't inform me. It came to $71 for a fill with gel polish and classic pedi (no callus just basic). Which when doing the math it doesn't seem to add up right even with the $5 to take off gel. I'm sorry but I won't be back. There's much nicer salons and for the quality and bad paint job, I would rather go anywhere else. Leaving 2 stars instead of 1 cuz Tina was friendly and fixed a crooked nail. read more

I've been a customer of shiny nails for about three months now. The quality has gone done quite a bit. I'm not a picky person. I don't complain about anything while there. My last experience I really didn't want to pay for it. The new nail technician (no badge) was messy, and didn't put any effort to making my gel neat. No base coat and just slapped the gel polish on. The prices aren't consistent. My pedicure was below average as well. The nail polish is messy and I still have dry skin on my toe nails. Just really unfortunate. read more

It's experiences like these that make me resent being such a sucker. Never have I had a manicure and pedicure that was such torture. I was cut and filed till I was bleeding, and instead of walking out, I kept giving the technician the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. Not only was it painful but my finger nails are more uneven than when I went in. I probably would have said something about all of my cuts and nails had I noticed them sooner, and not been in such a rush to get out of there. I'm just so disappointed (and mainly because I was looking forward to relaxing and being pampered after having a baby a couple months ago). Ladies please save yourself (and save your friends) some pain and go somewhere else, I honestly preferred childbirth over my experience here. read more

Horrible!!! Went there today for a pre Mother's Day fill and pedicure the manicurist at station 4 proceed to call me picky when I told her my nail was crooked!! She cut me not once, not twice but three times!! I am currently typing this with antibiotic ointment and bandaids on my fingers!!!! I spent $130 plus tips there today getting mine, my daughters and my sister in laws nails done. I will be calling a manager Monday morning and more than likely disputing the charge on my credit card. Hoping I don't wake up with an infection tomorrow morning on Mothers Day!! Do not go to this place!! read more

This review is long overdue. Any time I'm up at my parents' house in the Lakes and in need of a mani/pedi I happily stop in. I'm pretty sure I've had every single nail tech before, since I've been coming here for over a decade, but Lisa and Kim are by far my favorites. Lisa did my pedicure the last two times and my toes were as close to perfect as one could hope for. Kim did my gel manicure and they too are gorgeous! Prices are very reasonable and the salon is clean. But the best part of the entire experience is that the salon plays 'Friends' dvd's on loop! I guess if you don't like Friends this wouldn't be a highlight but who the heck doesn't like Friends?! Long story short: If you're in need of any nail service, GO! (And ask for Lisa)! Wasn't very happy with my service. I picked the more expensive pedicure and my massage lasted less than 5 mins. She was very critical of my feet and i didn't like that. When I walked in they told me the wait was 30 mins and I couldn't stay so I walked out but then she came running after me saying they could get me in. Love this place I've been going here with my mom for as long as I remember. We used to go to the Scottsdale one which is also nice. But we moved on this side. I love this place it's clean, the manager knows everyone (she asks how we are and even remembers what are converation were even if you haven't been there in a while) and so does the other people that work there. Although I don't get my nails done I go there for my eye brows. And ever so often my nails. While I wait you get offered a mini water bottle. Which is great in this heat. And they play Friends show every time you go there I'd recommend this place to everyone! read more

Since one of my best friends in highschool lived in Arrowhead Lakes, and I was more often than not at her house, we've been coming for a while. She lives in LA now but every time she's back in town and staying with her parents, I make it a point to make the drive from Mesa so I can sneak in the best mani/pedi EVER. The salon is clean, the prices are in my opinion inexpensive, the nail techs are friendly, particular and always remember your face, there is never an unbearable wait, and here's the end all/be all: they have a tv - on which they play Friends on REPEAT. I'm talking--Season 1-10, back-to-back Friends from morning until night. Sure--it's my favorite show of all time so perhaps I'm a bit biased about the experience being as amazing as it is, but go try it out for yourself and try to tell me otherwise. I don't complain ever but I am shocked about what happened at this nail salon. I got my nails dipped, like I usually do for years, and Kathy kept burning me with the drill and slit me with her file, I'm not exaggerating, 10x! I expect a cut or two but every time she hurt me I flinched and said ow and she never apologized or anything. The final time she cut me, I told her to please stop and I was done. I turned around and told the manager that I just wanted my check because Kathy kept hurting me and she still charged me full price and she hadn't even finished filing me or painting. No apologies nothing! It's a small place and I'm not one to throw a big confrontation so I just paid and left. Every once in a while (and I mean very rarely - maybe twice a year) I treat myself to a manicure/pedicure. When I came in, I opted just for a basic manicure. Kathy was my nail technician. She was nice, not too chatty, and did a good job. I thought it was a little silly at the end when she had me sit in the waiting area and put my nails in front of a mini-fan to dry them but it didn't bother me. They also offer you a mini bottle of water, which I think is a nice gesture. My manicure was $12 before tip which I think is the going rate for non-gel manicures. Overall, a perfectly good nail salon with reasonable pricing. read more

I went here yesterday for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was painless, other than me realizing she took big cuts out of all the corners of my big toe nails, which will surely cause ingrown toenails. The manicure WAS painful. The nail technician (can't remember her name) ignored my "ow"s and before I knew it, the cuticles on all my fingers were bleeding. She tried to null the situation, but I paid for my pedicure and left, even though I shouldn't have had to pay for the pedicure. Cuticles still swollen and hurting from yesterday. I'm sure not everyone here is bad, but I would try somewhere different to be safe. read more
