This Shipley location used to be good. They now sell you stale-old donut holes. So disappointing. Last time we will visit for sure.

Updated review in April - ASK FOR JUSTIN and USE YELP's Get In Line feature to avoid the wait!…read more We came back on Easter Sunday and had a completely redemptive experience! Justin was friendly, attentive, and just overall GREAT! The crepes are better than the beignets. The portions are large so we shared a few bc we're traveling & can't take leftovers. Original February experience with JC- We did not enjoy our experience here. The server had an attitude and was not very attentive. We left a 2 star review in February with this experience.

I was ignored by the seating hosts, taking other people with more than one in their party. After 4 minutes waiting, I was finally seated in the bar area, away from the main seating area. Against the wall, with a few other single patrons who were similar in age and dress...you know "old folgies". I set that aside, but after waiting another 3 minutes a waitress was sent over to take my order. She did not seem happy to be tasked with this seating area. Anyway, she took my breakfast order. In less than 5 minutes, my food arrived. And I never saw that waitress again. Now for the food....it was the worst food I have ever tasted...and I used to have to eat military C-rations and MREs. Everything was cold...even the coffee. After trying to eat the food and being ignored by the staff. I simple stood up to leave. Suddenly, the bill was shoved into my hand. I paid for the food I did not eat, and I left a ZERO tip for the service I did not get. I will never go to this place, and have recommended to everyone to never go there as well.

Was seated in about the middle of the restaurant along the wall. I love these seats cause you can see the coffee station and what's going on back there. Basically people watching. It was a little loud today, so I put on my head set and listened to some music. My server was Joyce and she was sweet. Took my order, which was breakfast tacos and a pineapple mimosa. My drink came super quick, and my food didn't take long at all. I mean like a couple minutes quick. Tacos were outstanding. And honestly as soon as I asked for a corn tortilla over the flour I thought, they're going to fall apart. But they didn't. And when you see the size of these tacos it will blow your mind that they didn't. Good corn tortilla. Scrambled eggs are fluffy, the potatoes are seasoned a little. They added bacon for me a that was chopped up inside the taco. Honestly it was a lot of food. I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. But I did, and enjoyed every bite.

It was suggested based on the recommendation of my running friend. I absolutely love the decor of the space. It is a French country farmhouse vibe with so many quant decorative details. We had a large party of 12. They have a bunch of different bakery items behind the counter and a selection of omelettes, French toast and avacado. Unfortunately the cafe was not equipped to handle such a large party. We first placed our drink orders and some individuals including myself did not receive our drinks until after our food order. Many times the incorrect food would come out and they could not keep track of what everyone was ordering. They did ask for patience as they only had one cook, but I did see tables with smaller parties receiving their food in a timely manner. Even with the wait the food was still delivered in a piecemeal fashion. It would have been nice if the restaurant had done something to acknowledge our inconvenience. I started with the purple rain which was one of their specialty drinks a butterfly tea with lemon over sparking water with agava. It was quite expensive but tasted very bland to me. I also ordered a small soldier which is a baked egg wrapped with Italian prosciutto. This item was very tasty but very small. I also ordered a quiche with spinach, feta and tomato with farm fresh egg. This item was a bit more substantial compared to other items and was served with fresh tomato, but could have used a salsa. I didn't get a photo of this item. I was a bit blown away about the price point of these items because I spent nearly $35 for brunch and left still hungry. The dining experience ended up turning into an hour and a half ordeal. For these reasons, I was a bit disappointed and this spot was just not my cup of tea.

I sort of drifted the idea of wanting something that I don't usually order and that was the French onion soup and with Cerviche since it was a menu item for Happy hour. I was taken back by the size of the bowl was rather small for $10. But other than that it was really delicious and it was rather enough for me it will not fill you up but definitely it was enough food for me and the tropical Ceviche was served 'fresh with side of lemon slice. So what made the This dish so good was the fact that the tropical mixed fruit in the Cerviche gave it a blend of delicious flavors. I couldn't be happy I did order a house wine a cabernet and it had the tannins that was absolutely exactly what I wanted exactly what I ordered. Yes, I was a happy camper today for sure I definitely would recommend The French onion soup! Like I said this restaurant is a hit or miss what I mean to say is the fact that sometimes the dishes are not always consistent. If it's a very busy day you may not like your dish or if it's a very slow day then I would assume you'll be very happy with your meal like I was.

The salmon this time was ordered medium and it came out perfect on the edges but the inside was stringy and raw. I'm not talking pink, but the red, gooey, translucent flesh color. Waitress said "next time we'll order it well done." She was trying to be funny but it came off as a little dismissive as she didn't look at the fish. The chicken strawberry salad was very good except for the chicken. I thought a restaurant like this would know that a salad with bright acids shouldn't be mixed with fatty, lumpy chunks of dark meat. Apparently they use a rotisserie chicken that's stripped by a machine - then they just grab a handful of whatever comes out and throw it on the salad. For the cooks it's easy to remember - if it's slathered in sauce use dark meat, otherwise use breast meat. Service was attentive and the outside patio was nice.
