Walked in there 5:30am to get some donuts! The people were really nice and the donuts were fresh. They even gave me a free fresh glazed.

Don't do much donuts in the morning just because of the breading and sugar, but when I stopped by here, I was greeted and given great customer service, asked for the pricing on water and at the time I wasn't able to afford it, but the lady came out as I was in the car to gift me a free water which is awesome, will be coming back every chance I get and supporting this local donut shop for what she did. Crown Donut is the pinnacle of donut shops. This is a Family owned and operated hole in the wall with impeccable service and peak coffee & donut selection. Every time anyone steps foot into this shop, we are always greeted warmly and treated with respect. The folks here take my order with care and are patient when I try to decide which donuts I should get for the fam. The heart and soul in this shop is everything. They have gluten free donuts on the weekends which has become the highlight of my Saturday mornings (as someone with Celiac disease). As someone born and raised in Austin and a witness to how the city has changed drastically over the years, it fills my heart to see a classic family owned business like this still around. Stopped here while on vacation and I kept going back, an amazing donut shop. I'm a kolache girl so I tried those first and they were amazing very yummy and delicious. What a find! I hadn't attempted to visit Crown Donut because there just isn't much inviting about the outside that I [mistakenly] assumed that they weren't very good. But I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered multiple things even though I was only ordering for 1. haha. There was a previous review that said they didn't have much variety...have you seen their menu? They have a ton of options! I got two different breakfast tacos and you can essentially order whatever combo you want. I also got the blueberry donut holes. The breakfast tacos were made to order with plenty of filling and nice and hot. The blueberry donuts were excellent. They also have kolaches and drinks etc. So many options. Y'all know I love me some donuts so I had to check this spot out. A bonus is they have a drive through. I didn't use it but it's there. They had all the usual suspects, glazed, chocolate glazed, ect. I chose to get a dozen chocolate glazed donut holes and two glazed donuts. These were the softest donuts I have ever had. I was embarrassed while chomping on them initially like I was prepared to eat some jerky and had to quickly adjust so I didn't break my tooth. Also, the chocolate glaze was special. It had a slight saltiness that really stood out. Friendly staff, seems to be family owned! Place looks like your typical donut shop, coolers with drinks and a glass case, register, no frills here. This was our first and last time going to Crown donut. We got a variety of donuts, a kolache and other baked goods. First off, the variety was limited and they were out of several things we wanted to try. It was nearing 10am on a Sunday so I could forgive them for that if everything else went well. Unfortunately from stepping into this place, I wasn't too hopeful. Behind the counter felt incredibly dirty, faucet was dripping, stacked containers with dried food on the outside, not appetizing. I've been to some run down places with good donuts so I didn't just walk out. We got: - frosted donuts - the kids didn't eat them so I can't imagine they were any close to good since they will eat any donut. They look super doughy and we're rock hard. - donut holes - both blueberry cake and regular - dry, crusty, old tasting - apple fritter - for being basically $3, you would think this would be one of their best items. This thing was inedible, burnt, dense, oily, and so hard it crumbled apart. Something that is supposed to be moist was as dry as the Sahara. Kolache - it was okay, nothing special and even though they heated it up for me, it was warmed through. In the area this weekend and needed a quick breakfast for a group of friends. Popped into Crown Donut for tacos and donuts. Tacos were pretty basic but the tortilla were fresh. Donuts were awesome! You can get different fillings if you want and lots of options. I went pretty basic as ordering for a group but everyone loved the selection. Apparently the donut is replacing the cupcake craze. Locally owned donut / kolache shops are popping up all around Lakeway. This place used to be a cupcake bakery but last weekend when I drove past I saw a "Now Open" flag and pulled in to see what was new. I saw Kolaches on the door banner - I was hungry and love kolaches so I pulled into the drive thru. I see a young Asian child sipping on juice behind the counter and probably her Mom working on something but noone comes to the window....So I drive around again snap some photos and pull back in - still noone comes to the window. So I park and go inside. The woman working apologized that she did not hear the ding / maybe not working drive thru and offered me a dozen free donut holes. Thanks! my nieces and nephew loved them and so did I! I ordered a sausage and a ham & cheese kolache (a whopping 2.50 for both!) the bread was sweet and yeasty and complimented the savory fillings perfectly. I particularly liked the ham n cheese as it was heavy on the savory to sweet bread ratio. I got to my sister's with the free donut holes and the kids loved them! I had 2 and they were delicious little bite size balls of sweet joy - a sweet glazed slightly crisp outer with a melt in your mouth center! They still had an almost full case at closing time so obviously people in the area do not know about them yet. It will be such a shame if this locally owned place does not make it. I must premise by stating that I don't typically eat donuts. It has literally been about 10 years (just not a huge fan of sweets). But, my husband woke me up this morning and he WANTED donuts for some reason - maybe he had some strange dream. Donuts it is. Our first time at Crown and was not disappointed. Again, I am no aficionado, but the glazed was still warm (melt in your mouth) and the cake donut was fresh. Waiting for the sugar high to go away. Nice neighborhood donut joint. Second time going to Crown Donut's and I'm still quite disappointed . Our first time here we ordered a Bavarian cream filled and when we got home only half of the donut was filled. I tried again this morning with two chocolate Bavarian cream filled and got home to be sad yet again. There's hardly half a teaspoon of filling in each donut and to make it worse they charge you extra. This place has so much potential the dough itself is so fresh and delicious. We used to love this place! There was a time when we were coming once a week and never had any issues. It had been about a year and my daughter asked to go for her birthday. It has definitely changed for the worse. Prices went up, service went down. We ordered a single jumbo kolache with a few small ones. When the jumbo wasn't in the bag, we went back to the register and had to pay for something we had already ordered. When they handed it over, it was the exact same size as the small kolaches... so we paid more for the same thing. Kids didn't like their donuts and if the kids who will eat anything with sugar on it don't want it, it's bad. There were ants crawling on our table. Gross. We walked out having spent $50 and being absolutely disappointed. We will not be returning. read more

Whoa!! Watch your waistline because this place is ALL GOOD! Kolaches are so tasty, and the donuts really hit the spot. I am partial to the really fresh SOFT donuts, and this place has them. The drive-thru is a plus also! I've not tried the coffee here, so I can't comment on that. read more
