Definately the best variety in town, and super friendly too. My new favorite doughnut place.

The pancakes were great, my banana pancakes had a lot of banana. They are hearty pancakes! AND you get toast with an egg combo, so our little 2 top was swimming in delicious breakfast food. The coffee was a perfect diner blend, served with a little mini pitcher of cream which felt like a nice touch, as did the serving apple butter and jelly in a little dish. There was a wait on a Saturday morning but it wasn't terrible, like 45 minutes. When we got in the staff were working their tails off and our server was amazing. It's a small establishment and a little loud, but don't let that stop you from having an amazing breakfast.

This is NOT southern breakfast.. might be better for northerners to eat an egg breakfast here. I had the scrambled eggs and onions which was cooked well and buttery. Very good! No potatoes were a bummer. Sausage was pretty hard and dry. Bacon looked much better. I'm appreciative this place was open. Why so many places are closed in Hot Springs mid-week is baffling to me. I'll be back here next time the service was fantastic!

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.

Myself and one of my friends had a nice breakfast here and the service was very good. We had 2 different ladies who brought our food out and kept checking up on us if we needed anything. It is a cute little restaurant in a small shopping plaza , easy to miss driving by if you didn't know it was there. We found it online and it was close to the Airbnb I rented across the lake. I had Pancakes , Scrambled Eggs , Bacon , and Home Fries. My friend had the same except no Pancakes. The Pancakes were light and fluffy with a little powdered sugar and syrup on the side. They tasted pretty good. Scrambled Eggs were cooked perfectly , also light and fluffy. Bacon was a little smoky and good , not too crisp , more chewy like I like it. Our last day we had breakfast downtown at Best Cafe and Bar , which is a historic 1930's Diner attached to a Motel that supposedly Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio stayed at. We were not impressed. I would recommend eating here instead , because Best Cafe and Bar was very bland , very busy , expensive , and just okay customer service. You get more for your money here. We thought Waffle House was better than Best Cafe and it was way cheaper.

My first interaction with the hostess was a pointed finger towards the back of the restaurant while she stated "the booth in the back". A little shocked that was all that she was going to say, I lead my group to the back of the restaurant hoping I was guiding them to where the hostess had intended on us sitting. Another incident occurred when someone in our party who was sitting in the middle of the booth asked the server for hot sauce, the response was mumbled under her breath as she walked away "There's a shelf over there." I understand if it's a self service hot sauce bar, but there are about a million more hospitable ways to communicate that. I obviously got up & grabbed it bec that seemed like a better solution than making our entire table climb out of the booth. Not to mention a cockroach casually strolled around our booth. We told our server, no apology, no concern, nothing. Ironically, the food itself was fine. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed it. After we left, we were walking around the strip talking about the experience when multiple shop owners told us this restaurant has a reputation for service like that & said we should have gone to the Famous Pancake House instead. So here's my warning to other travelers, if you're looking for breakfast with friendly service, I'd probably keep walking. If you're looking for an unintentional interactive experience where you will wonder whether you're on a hidden camera prank show... this might be the place...

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would!! Our food was charred and tasted burned, we ordered burgers, an omelet, and a breakfast plate. The omelet had pieces of burned burger bits in it from the grill. The waitresses were sitting at a table next to ours eating (in between waiting on the kitchen to prep orders) and counting their cash tips while wrapping silverware in napkins. With no hand washing after handling their cash!! After our meal I asked to use their restroom, and I was instructed to go back through the kitchen to the last door on the right. I was in complete shock at the sight of the tiny double galley kitchen, filthy, food droppings everywhere, multiple trash cans overflowing with nasty trash, witnessed one employee digging into a can of black olives with his bare hands and his fingernails were filthy!!! By the back door there was a huge mixer with batter in it stuck to the whisk just sitting there across from the bathroom door. It was hot, cramped, and muggy. Stinky, filthy and definitely not sanitary. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was so disgusted and decided to write this review so that anyone who is thinking of eating here will know not to!!!
