How this place has so many 5 Star Reviews is beyond me. I came in with an old Army buddy of mine for breakfast a few days ago. We were attending a small Army Reunion in Hot Springs , Arkansas. The food wasn't bad , but kind of bland , nothing special. We had a couple with their child next to us and we had both ordered the Biscuits and Gravy and saw the lady had them and we asked how they were. She said they were okay , but not impressed. When we got ours we said the same thing. The gravy had a little sausage in it , so that saved it from being like paste. The biscuits were okay , not hard and complimented the gravy like it should. We had Scrambled Eggs instead of as listed Sunny Side Up Eggs on top. They didn't put the scrambled eggs on top , they put separately on the plate which we didn't ask for. Another couple took the table beside us that the family was at before and the husband also ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and they put them on top of his biscuits and gravy , odd they did ours differently. He also was not impressed with them. I also asked for a Bowl of Grits and I got a Small Saucer the size of a side of Ranch , for $5.00 extra. Grits are cheap and that is all they give you like 6 spoonfuls. I got a Dr Pepper and they give you a Can and a glass of ice , so no refills and I also got a glass of water. My friend got a side of Bacon and he said it was alright. I'm sure a lot of people like the history and it's a cool throwback cafe with old pictures and such. Best Cafe is part of Best Court, a motor court that opened in 1933 and was revitalized in 2017. The corner suite, No. 11, once hosted Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio, according to hotel lore. The Cafe was busy and the tiny waiting area by the door only holds a few people trying to keep cool while waiting for a table. A few people had to wait outside in the Arkansas heat and humidity. That day we got to 97 degrees , so by breakfast it was about 85. I'm sure there are better things on the menu than what we had , but we weren't impressed. We ate at Waffle House the next morning and he said he liked it better and it was a better value. It was expensive for breakfast. Maybe if we got like some French Toast dish with fruit or such we would've had a better experience. read more

It was a wet Saturday morning and we were wanting a good hearty breakfast with some good coffee and we found it at Best Cafe and Bar. When we arrived there were a couple of groups ahead of us and we heard they were on a 10 minute wait. We went to add our name to the list and it just happened a two top had just been cleaned and reset, so we were sat immediately. Our server greeted us with a smile and was really helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The coffee was good and hot and arrived quickly. We both ended up going with the waffle with homemade sausage, with the addition of a breaded chicken breast. It came with some fresh berries and syrup. Everything was freshly prepared and served at the right temperature. I guess the owners family were dining at the table next to us and he stopped by to visit. While he was there he checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal, which we really were. The restaurant/bar area is pretty small and it was busy, but they were really on top of things. The service was great, the food was coming out quickly and it was good. If we lived locally, we would probably be eating breakfast here a few times a month at least. read more

We also had another brunch experience that was underwhelming the day prior. And thus, I was pleasantly surprised at this establishment. Clean, cozy, good service and yummy options. The creme brulee french toast is chef kiss, we ordered them as a side only cause we each have our own breakfast plate. Breakfast was really good, but the one thing that stood out to me was the prices felt out of line compared to other places in the area. While I enjoyed my bagel, the price point and the way it arrived wasn't quite what I was expecting based on some research of previous reviews and photos on yelp. Plus, at some point they must have switched because it used to come with crispy capers which is a weirdly specific favorite of mine and now it is served with just regular capers. This cafe was actually the best! Keisha was our server and she was so inviting, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly to me and my boyfriend. I usually don't write reviews, but I was blown away with both service and the quality of our food. I ordered the Pork Belly Skillet Hash on recommendation and it was fantastic. The pork was packed with flavor and was perfectly matched with the potatoes and poached eggs. We also tried the Brioche bites as a starter and they were delicious and tasted just like Cinnabon delights as Keisha said. We are both from New Orleans and are tough critics to impress because of it. Overall the atmosphere, service, and delicious food makes Best Cafe a must see on your trip to Hot Springs. This was good. I can't decide on the flavor of this food. Sometimes there was flavor and sometimes there wasn't. Maybe it is me. The fried chicken Benedict was different and good but not the best Benedict I have ever had. All sauces had a lot of garlic. The chicken appeared to be fried very dark but it wasn't dry at all. The Gouda grits were more garlic than cheese. The consistency was excellent in the grits. The biscuits were fantastic. The oddest thing on the plate was the potato latkes. It was like eating bread. How they do that I do not know. The crust on the potato latke was fabulous. I do think the cheese on the breakfast sandwich should have been more than American cheese. No kidding, this place lives up to its name. Best Cafe & Bar is like the type-A overachiever kid in the classroom. This restaurant does everything just so, and pays attention to details, and everything is much more elevated and better than it needs to be. The French toast isn't just French toast, it's also brûléed, so the caramelized sugar on top adds a bit of texture. It comes with a lovely pool of cinnamon sugar butter melted on top. The avocado on the avocado toast is spread in an intricate pattern, with pink pickled onions and chives sprinkled on top. It comes with perfectly fried eggs placed elegantly on the side. The shrimp and grits includes confetti peppers and an heirloom tomato sauce squired around the bowl. The pancakes are served with vanilla-infused butter. They have an omelet on the menu, but it's made with duck eggs. See, it's things like this that I'm talking about. This is a family-friendly restaurant that's very homey and casual, but it's also exciting and fun for people who love food and trying new things. I visited with a group of people, and we all ordered different things and tried a little bit of several things. Everything that I ate here was amazing, but the French toast stole the show. The coffee was also amazing (I take it black). They serve breakfast, brunch and lunch here, and they also have a kids menu.
