Captain's breakfast with a side of hash browns
    Scott K.

3 's - met expectations We went here for brunch on a Saturday morning. It was very busy, and they have a small parking lot. The restaurant is also fairly cramped, but they can accommodate larger parties. We were seated quickly considering how busy it was. Overall, the food was fine; it was a regular cafe. My food was a little cold. Granted, I went to the restroom to wash my hands, but I was only gone for about a minute, so it was not that hot coming out. Also, they have syrup packets rather than a container of syrup, which I am never a fan of. My partner got the Monte Cristo sandwich, and they enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was pleasant and served us quickly.

The ambience was very seafaring themed. My friend and I could sit for as long as we wanted and talk about some things. The food was very good, and adding two different kinds of hot sauce made it even better! The waitress checked in with us at least three times while we were there. The exterior of the building was being painted when we arrived so they do care about me building the wanted to as ship shape as possible..

Went in on a Monday night, it was nice, dark and quiet (the music was a lil loud but I didn't mind it too much, especially with other people around). The food was amazing! My partner and I had the Double Spoiler which was crispy, juicy, cheesy and so delicious (extra points for the sourdough not shredding up the inside of my mouth). I had the garlic tots but even the regular fries were hot, crispy and delightfully seasoned. I really wish I had noticed the chalkboard with their specialty drinks/ cold brew and their awards for their clam chowder but oh well! Just means I'll have to come back and try it again some other time.

Not only was our breakfast experience over the top the weather was picture perfect!

Recently had breakfast with my wife, for the first time, at the Shipwreck Cafe in Olympia. Only have two words to say - exceeded expectations! Our server was Josie and she was amazing! Anticipated our every need and delivered what I'd call 'over the top hospitality!' She's a keeper! Clean, friendly, great food, great service, amazing ambiance and they also serve a great drink too! Wife had Loco Moco Oly style and I had chicken fried steak & eggs. One of the best breakfast's we've ever had in the PNW. In particular note, the hash browns were cooked and served to perfection - just the right amount of delicious brown crispness without being soggy. We'll be back!

After a hospital visit I decided to go to a new place for us. Saw this place and decided to try them out. Initial views: Right off the road, a fairly big building. Parking located right up front and to the side of the restaurant. There are outdoor seating where we saw a dog sitting by a table, so pet friendly! When you walk in, there's a wall of syrups and the signs for cocktails, their daily specials. A cooler showcasing desserts made in house too. Food and Drink: Chicken fried steak with hashbrowns and eggs Sausage & Bacon hash with egg Blueberry pancake Sourdough toast Grapefruit juice Bottomless coffee The decor inside shows shipwrecks and other nautical items. The food was cooked and delivered hot and well seasoned. Waitress was nice and kept up with checking in with us. It was just good American cafe food. I'll put it on the list for coming back to!

The best food in the Olympia Lacey Area. Their soft omelets are the best in the whole area.

Food was good, service great, way over priced for the area. Expect to spend in the $30 plus range for a meal for two.

The food was just alright, but I was disappointed with what I got and was expecting more quality for the price. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Who and I was given a plate with a small handful of still-crunchy sliced bell peppers and zucchini that seemed that they had been in contact with heat for all of 30 seconds next to a pile of potatoes that were cold from sitting. The chicken breast was just meh, not very thick, not very moist, not very seasoned, not very much of it. Small amount of sliced prosciutto on top. I just think for $30 this was a ripoff by at least 1/3 of the price; I would expect an actual chicken cordon bleu at that price instead of this quick-service deconstruction. The blackberry mojito I ordered for I think $15 tasted pretty good but was missing the presence and flavor of any alcohol so there was no complexity, just ended up being a $15 refreshing fruit drink. My husband ordered an appetizer (Sirloin Diablo) for $27 and got a small bowl of steak tips submerged in a barely spicy (Diablo?) cajun cream sauce like a soup surrounded by some painfully plain, thin, unseasoned, boring grilled bread. It's not bad or very good by any means and just wasn't his thing, but charging almost $30 for that? At their prices and the way they are presented I was expecting a really satisfying dinner but walked away feeling like I would've been just as happy eating some standard fare at a local diner for half the cost.

We started with the patatas bravas, gambas pil pil (butter garlic shrimp), oysters (both raw and cooked), and a hummus platter, and everything was excellent. The true standout, however, was the smoked salmon Alfredo--an absolutely incredible dish and one of the best pastas I've had in a long time. We added some chopped jalapeños for extra heat, but honestly, it was fantastic even on its own. The dessert was equally impressive, with a cake that was incredibly moist and the perfect way to end the meal. The wine selection deserves special mention as well. They offer a great variety of Spanish wines that pair beautifully with the menu. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The atmosphere is one of Octapas Café's biggest strengths. The restaurant features a beautiful, spacious dining room, plenty of outdoor seating, and even a private event space for larger gatherings and celebrations. Whether you're stopping by for tapas, seafood, pasta, or wine, Octapas Café delivers a memorable experience from start to finish.

We felt like an intrusion to tasks she could've worked on after seating us. We asked to sit on the patio in the sun - she seemed annoyed by this but acquiesced. The patio was quaint and the weather helped make it enjoyable. She was pleasant and sat us in the sunshine on the patio. I was sad to see so few patrons. I will review the best part first: THE COCKTAILS: The spirits and craft cocktail selection was huge / the beer & wine not so much. My Old Fashioned was perfect! Food: Seafood Rosé Pasta (bay scallops, shrimp, northwest manila clams, rosé prosecco cream sauce, grilled bread) -- inconsistent cook on the different seafoods & the sauce was meh. Not worth $42.00 Grilled Romaine Salad (white balsamic bleu cheese dressing, gorgonzola, cherry tomatoes, aleppo toasted hazelnuts) -- plenty of romaine, could've been grilled longer / not much quantity of tomatoes or toasted hazelnuts -- basically a "side salad" for $15.00 Lobster Bisque (house smoked tomatoes, roasted red pepper, cream, butter poached langoustine lobster) -- tasted more like roasted tomato / red pepper soup (no lobster or seafood flavors) - there were 4 small pieces of poached?? langoustine lobster on top - I question poached because the pieces definitely had a bite to them. Worth $15.00 -- no. Due to reviews we had the Baklava Crumble (pistachios, honey, vanilla ice cream) -- basically cut up (very chewy, not crispy) baklava tossed over ice cream for $14.00 -- maybe a bad night for this dessert? We like to support small Olympia businesses and will go back for cocktails but the food costs are too high - we don't mind high costs IF we come away satisfied - unfortunately the food didn't measure up to the cost. As we drove away, we saw the "Budd Bay Cafe" was very busy - I think next time we'll have cocktails at Cynara, then cross the street for food and wine. We were intrigued with the "Clam Chowder Entrée" which is served à la minute (Washington manila clams, bacon, cream, celery, roasted potatoes, grilled bread) -- is it a deconstructed chowder?? $33.00 Sorry no pics.
