I love the cramped cluttered feeling of Shirts 'n' Things. Eh, where to start I love the belt buckles they keep in the case since I am a belt buckle person and they have some cool and beautiful belt buckles. Cool lighters, stickers, posters, gothic hair accessories, hats and even cute baby outfits with a metal or gothic twist. Huge music memorabilia selection to choose from whether it is shirts, posters, stickers, bags, patches, and hats. They have a great shoe selection from Demonia, creepers, and boots. Nice purses as well near the back of the store. There is way too much to look at in one shopping trip, just take your time and do one section at a time. This place reminds me of the University District right outside of the University of WA. And the owners and their employees are incredibly chill and laid back. You certainly didn't feel pressured to make a purchase. I drove 30 min from N. Phoenix to get to the shop, and it was worth it! I got a personalized t-shirt for a friend for his birthday. They were incredibly accommodating, and made the entire process easy. And I didn't have to order 200 t-shirts; I was able to get just the one. The base price was $19.99, and only $2 more for any size over 2XL. It was only $9 more to get some on both sides of the shirt. Their selection of kitsch is impressive, and eclectic. There was so much interesting stuff: iron on patches in various characters/slogans, large ( even vintage) movie/band posters that were flattened out against sturdy cardboard, incense, lighters, wallets, purses, cute clothes, and more. A person could definitely spend all day in there, and enjoy it. Oh, and easily spend your life savings. Lol!!! I'm a huge fan of this shop, and for sure a loyal customer. First experience, the sales associate at the front (I wish I would have asked her name) was awesome and extremely helpful. The Best Service From Larry and His Wife! I have done business with Larry for quite possibly almost a decade. He has always gone out of his way to be super polite, respectful and absolutely genuine in his dealings with me. They used to also do custom T-Shirt orders for me and I cannot recall having such reliable vendors often in the shirt business. They always have gone the extra mile to make sure I have been 100% satisfied! It is rare in this world to find someone running a business or even a person at all who genuinely is a good person and does honest business with you to the point where friendship is created. I went in with high expectations and left empty-handed. Problem? they didn't really have what I was looking for at a reasonable price. They did however, have a lot of stuff that maybe I'll need sometime in the future. I was recommended Shirts 'n' Things by a friend in the music scene when I told him I was looking for Demonia boots and other goth/rock apparel and accessories. Despite walking out empty handed, I have to admit that I'm really pleased to say that a store of this sort is found in Arizona at all. Merchandise: -band t-shirts -accessories (body jewelry, wallets, chains, hats, etc) -shoes/boots -patches -truck/car decals -custom designed tees -women's "pin-up" style clothing -decor (posters, flags, etc) -lots more I'm sure Quality: -wasn't over-the-moon in the quality department. Example: cigarette cases appeared to be cheap quality (for $20), patches were not band produced, they are screenprints on black fabric mass-produced in store. -jewelry quality (specifically metal bracelets and chains) were far below the price they were asking ($35-50). Staff: -hit and miss helpfulness. Some were preoccupied with their task at hand, wouldn't even acknowledge someone standing in front of them. -generally seemed more concerned about people filching items than actually trying to sell things to paying customers. Selection: -tons of some stuff, very little of others. Very wide variety of items to browse. -very limited shoe selection -tons of shirts. Shirts upon shirts upon shirts. I guess that's why it's called Shirts 'n' Things. Good business they've got going here-- lots to choose from and they cater to the uprising of rock music fans in the Valley. Worked there for about 6 months, so I'll try to make this unbiased. This is a family owned rock memorabilia shop that sells everything from posters, t-shirts, purses, shoes, patches, jewelry, and drinking accessories. They also do special orders and keep a pretty good eye on what sells and what doesn't, so there's always something new and a lot of favourites are always in stock. Some cons: Some of the stuff isn't the best quality for the price and they are overstocked on a lot of things, giving the shop a very cluttered, cramped feel. This sucked for the employees because we had to resort everything on a constant basis, and there was just too much stuff. This might be good as a customer, though, since they have just about anything you could want. Great place to go if you're looking for gifts and they have a lot of sales items too, so you can get a lot of things for under $10. Think of this place like a family-owned Spencers Gifts and/or Hot Topic. read more

teenage son and I drove up to Phoenix to do some shopping, and this was first on our list. It. Was. Awesome. So many bands and so many items for so many tastes. In fact, there's so much that it's a bit overwhelming at first. Plan lots of time to just look at everything. My son already has an extensive t-shirt collection, but couldn't pass up a Depeche Mode (Black Celebration even!) shirt. The Russian shirt he wanted was out of his size, but we were shocked to find a Mission U.K. poster--which is one of his favorite bands. We snapped it up for a buck. I was disappointed that they didn't have any Depeche Mode posters, but they explained that those suckers are near impossible to find anymore. I appreciated the explanation. Would have loved to see some Pet Shop Boys stuff. The owners were extremely nice and helpful, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I like shirts and I like things so it seems to make sense that I would enjoy this store. It is kind of a genre store with much of the merchandise being focused on the punk rock/alt rock lifestyle. There are band tees a plenty and patches and belt buckles you'd be hard-pressed to find outside of those walls. I love window-shopping here and while much of it isn't stuff I'd wear, I can't help but admire the amount of stuff they have. I have purchased a few belt buckles and t-shirts that I couldn't find anywhere else when I stopped by randomly. Some people might be quick to label it as a mom-and-pop Hot Topic but I don't think that does it justice. This place is more authentic and has much more interesting stuff for those who don't want to feel out of place with rock and roll tweens. read more

This place was great - so many T-shirts, tanks, purses and other neat accessories! The staff and owners were there - super friendly and helpful. The only downfall was the v-neck t-shirts I tried on didn't fit right - extremely low cut and open gaps at the shoulder blades. The tanks fit normally - bought a couple and the men's crew neck t-shirts fit fine - my husband bought a Tool t-shirt. We'll definitely make this a regular shopping trip while on vacation in Phoenix. Shirts 'n' Things has ALL the shirts, but their lunchbox and cigarette case selection is pretty impressive as well. It is a great place to get rock-a-billy clothing and accesories. Naturally they stock the iconic Johnny Cash poster (the one with the finger) but I was delighted to find a half dozen other, less well known posters of him. I would like to clarify a point made by an earlier reviewer - Shirts 'n' Things DOES NOT do copyright infringement. They will screen print or vinyl cut your original design but their outside merchandise is completely legitimate. Even at my tender age of 30-sumtin' I still like to wear the occasional band shirt and if it isn't getting it from the show - this is my first stop. I love the selection and the customer service is top notch. I love that they greet you but really leave you alone as you look at the wall-to-wall shirts. The female tees are not the most selection but then again there isn't much online. I also like the fact that in every trip I have yet to meet a condescending employee - you can buy anything without someone giving you a look or their unkind opinion like most music or specialty . It is a far drive for me and most tees average 20 bucks but I am buying local and save on shipping so it evens out. read more
