This place is just okay in my opinion. I thought the ambiance was fair with a cool authentic vibe. It was clean and comfortable and the service was good. The biggest gripe I had was with the food. It was honestly just okay and extremely over priced. They charge for side dishes that should honestly be complimentary such as their breads etc. & their portions are seriously lacking. They also served my son a raw breaded and fried chicken tender that made him go to the urgent care afterwards. The food just wasn't up to quality standards. I don't recommend this place & I definitely won't be returning. The only reason I gave it any stars was the customer service honestly. read more

Shishkebab's has duplicate listings on Yelp... My experience, Staff- Fair to Average Service, Poor to Fair, wait time to get served 50 minutes, when the place was 20 percent full. Food, Poor, meat dry and burnt. Deco, remodeled Huddle House, with flag of Turkey and a TV playing a Turkey movie. I will never return. read more

I had high hopes for this place. I loved the cushions on the floor with traditional seating and decor. It should have been a sign to us we were the only customers in the restaurant at 6pm on a Saturday. We ordered hummus and it was bland. No spices no garlic nothing. Bland. Our meals were also bland with none of the traditional spices on the shish kebob. The rice was just plain no flavor. The tzatziki was not what I am used to. The flavor was overwhelming and off. Not sure what herb was in there but it was strange. The staff were very nice and attentive. The food needs some help and it would be a great establishment. read more

my boyfriend and i went the other night, and we left so satisfied!!! we started with an order of sarma (stuffed grape leaves), and turkish tea (which we both must have drank at least 10 little glasses each)...for dinner we shared the Uruva Kebab...which is a mixed plate of döner kebab, chicken kebab, beef kebab, lamb kebab, adana kofte and ciz biz köfte. With bulgur, sauce, salad and pita, and baklava for desert...the service was questionable, but ive yet to discover a restaurant in augusta with GREAT service...sit on the floor with your shoes off...belly dancer on the weekends...we will definitely be back again. read more

If you are looking for authentic Turkish food, Shishkabob house will leave you disappointed. Id say Zoe's Kitchen would've been better. My wife agrees and she's half Persian and also spent significant time abroad in Turkey. We ordered a "tzaziki" appetizer but it's really just grocery store yogurt (not even Greek style yogurt) with dry mint inside. A generous portion is served with one stingy piece of pita bread. The bread is not homemade or authentic. They charge you an extra .99 cents for an extra piece which we ordered upon first glance. We ordered the Sultan kabob and the lamb kabob. The sultan kabob was wrapped in that same bread. The lamb kabob was laid atop 2 pieces of more of that generic bread. The meat was flavored nicely but a little overdone. The rice tasted somewhat instant and lacked any sort of flavor. The flavor of the meat made our meal there bearable. Save your time, save your money if your want real authentic Turkish food. Or just get a lamb kabob wrap to go. read more

Shishkebab affirms my belief that nothing great comes out of Augusta. One only needs to travel but a few miles West of Augusta to find absolute gems like Shishkebab, in the state of Georgia out of all places (I actually don't have anything against Augusta or the state of Georgia, I just haven't been too impressed with what I've seen thus far.) On to the meat and potatoes. Shishkebab is an uncut, unfiltered, unadulterated, uncensored supplier of authentic Turkish fare. Yes, the location is kind of awkward, and it does make you feel like you're stopping by at one of those old-timey commissaries on the Oregon Trail, and the interior does look like it used to be some sort of a patisserie or a butcher shop in a past life. Nevertheless, Shishkebab's Turkish sovereignty is undeniable, starting from the banner of the mighty Fenerbahçe S.K. displaying proudly from the counter; (tip: if you want to get the worst service of your life here, just tell the owner that you're a Besiktas/Trabzonspor fan and that you want to throw down) the endless stream of Turkish programming flowing from the ol' Brown tube; the assortment of Turkish decor/trinkets hanging by the counter (especially notable is the I :heart: Türkiye shirt), and so on. Long story short, inside of the ugly "out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere" architecture that seems to be ubiquitous in the CSRA, is a very genuine Turkish center. I brought a friend of mine who'd never once tried Turkish food in his life here, and thought it my duty to leave him with a positive impression of the cuisine. I therefore started him off with some hummus and what seems to be a never-ending bowl of pita that Shishkebab so delectably serves up here. I guess now would be a better time than any to mention that the owner was very friendly and attentive to our needs and kept refilling our pitas free of charge. After the appetizers, we ordered the Kuzu Kebab (Lamb Shishkebab) which was marinated and charred to perfection. I've never cared too much for yogurt sauce, but my friend seemed to love it; they do have Baklava and Turkish coffee here, which I would have tried had I not filled up on pita and hummus before. Shishkebab does get a star discounted because of the price; part of the charm of eating Turkish food when I was living in Europe was that it was always around the corner as a cheap alternative to whatever other dreadful European cuisine that I was being forced to eat at the time--fifty-five dollars for two people is a bit steep for your average working middle-class american. read more

The lamb here is delicious. The bread is ok, but not homemade. It was good food overall, but incredibly slow coming to you as it's made to order so prepare to be there a minimum of an hour after you order. I would've given five stars if the bread were better than just store bought pita. read more

Came on a Saturday evening for our first visit. Have had a yearning for Mediterranean food since moving to Augusta fron NYC a year ago. Food is authentic. Chicken in cooked to perfection. Done but not dried out. Seating perfect. Rice great. Pita tasted like they baked it -- fresh and tasty. Was surprised when a belly dancer appeared. Only two waitresses and every table was occupied. Service was a little slow, but the servers were as attentive as could be. We are making this a place we will visit regularly. Today was my first time going and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We had the feta rolls as an appetizer and they were deicuous. I had the gyro with rice for my meal and it was also very good. Prices were reasonable. I was not a fan of the tziki sauce. I will definitely be back! read more

We tried this place for late lunch today. What a treat! We have eaten Turkish food in many, many places domestic and foreign, and I have to say Shishkebab is my new favorite! What I liked most was the authenticity of the dishes and that all five of us liked what we ate. We had 2 combo plates and a falafel plate to start. The babaganoush was so deliciously smoky and even the hummus had an earthiness to it that made it taste homemade to me. I liked that I could taste the mint and the dill in the tzatziki sauce. It did not taste jarred like it sometimes does in the States. The falafel was cooked all the way through and I liked that it was a little larger-grained than normal. It made it taste more substantial to me. I liked the falafel so much I had the falafel plate, which was filling! My husband had the Beyti, which he described as "derricious!!" He thought the spiciness and taste was on point. My son had his own hummus for his lunch, which tells you how good it was because he is sooo picky! My daughters both had gyro, one plate (huge) and one wrap and both really liked the flavors they tasted. All the dinners came with rice and a nice little salad that had lettuce, onions, pickled cabbage, and a nice seasoned vinegar dressing. I found it a great addition to the plate. Those of us who could actually still eat were lucky enough to taste the spectacularly buttery baklava! It was fantastic. It melted in my mouth, which is rare. My husband also enjoyed a Turkish coffee and I bought some of the tea to take home. The staff was amazing. We were attended to very well by a professional, smiling, friendly staff (and our son is kind of a jerk) who got our order right and welcomed us very nicely. I cannot wait to come back and try more food at Shishkebab Restaurant. Next time... we get baklava to GO, too! read more

Recently moved to the area and have been trying various Mediterranean/ Turkish places looking for the best gyros. This place is our favorite. The gyro platter was great. Meat was perfect. Flavor of it with the pickled red cabbage and tzatziki gets 5 stars. So much food for the money. Looking forward to going back and trying the chicken and lamb kebabs. read more

Came here to try their kebabs. I ordered the beef kebab plate and my husband ordered the Troy kebab plate. My beef kebab was over done but still eatable. The rice was delicious. I tried the chicken kebab that was part of the Troy plate and the chicken had food flavor and was moist. The owner was really nice and attentive. This place isn't bad for Augusta but I think I'll stick to the gyro plate next time. Turkish coffee is prepared and tastes the way it's supposed to be. Like the decor of the restaurant and noticed the evil eye throughout the place which added that extra touch. read more

This is one of the best places I have ever eaten in serving Turkish food. Having been and lived in Turkey I know this to be the real thing, good home style cooking. On the weekends they have Belly dancers and the whole place turns into a big party. The staff are friendly and the owners/chiefs are creating a wonderful place to come on eat ad meet other people who enjoy the food and entertainment. Prices are great and it is easy to sit down in traditional Turkish style seating in addition to the standard American style seating. so come on in and share the fun. read more

Friendly service, facilities were not very clean, food quality was 2 stars at best (served all of us over cooked "frozen fries" in old oil). We each had different lunch options and with all due respect the quality in the meats and other items plated were not the best quality. I would not return, especially with options close by like Best Bites (similar menu but Best Bites was much higher in quality and cleanliness). Sorry Shishkebab but I've been blessed to visit Turkey, Cyprus, and lived in Greece and each location served amazing/delicious foods. Serving fries cooked in old cooking oil and using chemicals to clean our tables while we were seated are BIG NO-NO's. The lamb shish-kebab was a poor quality meat and difficult to chew. The Gyro was 2-3 stars which was disappointing... Hope you revisit your menu and renew what makes these food options so special. read more
