We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. We have been before and this time we took our two children. Each was able to find something to enjoy on the menu including the 40 ounce steak eaten by our teenage son, who said it was really good. Service was great! It was not that busy for a Wednesday evening around 8 pm. The spaghetti carbonara was what I enjoyed. It was flavorful and very delicious. The atmosphere was great as usual and my husband got a free dessert for his birthday, the chocolate cake!

No flambé on the bananas foster

First time going to shkode chop house at gunlake casino and for a chop house setting and prices I was expecting more. We waited at the hostess station for a while until someone sat us, the waitress didn't know how to open a bottle of wine and when she did she broke the cork and spilled some wine on the table, came time for bananas foster and she didn't even know how to flambe the rum, the manager only went to 2 tables and skipped the rest of us. We're went there for our Anniversary, and mashed potatoes were so salty with garlic salt I couldn't even eat it. Several people I spoke to had a mediocre experience also. But the rest of our time at the hotel and casino was wonderful!

Frozen inspired cocktail - (I want to say that this was called "Into the Unknown"...but I might be wrong.)

A bit pricey, but the food was good! We ordered a variety of items as we went during their half off month, so we were able to get more bang for our buck ;) Appetizers: Jenga Fries ($11) - Truffle oil, pecorino, trio of sauces; each piece is literally the size of a larger jenga piece. Strong smell/taste of truffle, which we love! Oysters ($18) - vodka & cocktail sauce, apple mignonette; Yummy! Nothing additional to comment here. Pork Belly ($13) - Corn puree, arugula pesto, azuki beans, brioche crostini, under a smoked dome; The smoked dome added a nice charred flavor to the Pork Belly. Charred Spanish Octopus ($16) - Thai salad, forbidden rice, aromatic herbs; We somehow ended up with a really dinky piece, which was a bit disappointing. Flavor was all right - we still laugh about the size of the Octopus leg to this day lol Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio ($16) - Fennel & arugula salad, blood orange dressing; Great taste, but probably wouldn't order again because of the price v. size. You can get the same quality fish at some sushi restaurants in GR, for a better price/amount. Soup: Maryland Crab Chowder ($9) - Cream, carrots, celery, onion, potatoes; Cool presentation, nice flavor. It wasn't overly salty, and we really enjoyed the crab chunks. Entrees: 16oz. Ribeye Steak ($44) - 28 day wet aged, served with potato puree, asparagus; Steak was tender and juicy. Seafood Risotto ($36) - Shrimp, scallops, grilled 6oz. lobster tail; This was okay, probably wouldn't order it again. Fire Roasted Seafood Platter ($110) - Two 60z. lobster tails, jumbo scallops, shrimp, clams, oysters, potato puree, seasonal vegetables; Lobster tails were grilled to perfection, the sauce/juices that the clams/scallops/shrimps/oysters came in were delicious. Chilean Seabass ($32) - Caulilini puree, pickled mustard seeds, miso reduction; Fresh, clean taste!

Return to Shkode again for the sur and turf. Great waitstaff and great food. It has become one of my favorite spots. Highly recommend.

Burratta appetizer. That sauce on the side is delicious and hubby took all the grapefruit

Really good food. I have to give it that. The atmosphere is OK. Not sure why I was a bit underwhelmed...I guess it was that we were supposed to be in a pretty high-endish steak house and you get to watch the people in the casino coming up to the windows to check out the menu. That is picky for sure but goes with the vibe I had of just not being super impressed. The service was not great...and it had nothing to do with staffing. There were so many hostesses and managers walking around. We had to wait for over 15 minutes for water and to get a HI. Then we ordered drinks and the bar was behind so we got bread and appetizers before our beverages showed up. The food was very good. We got the burrata appetizer and it was good. Our steaks (I got the filet and hubby got the bone in fillet) were delicious. The jenga fries were yummy and fun. The crème brûlée does deserve the recommendation that the manager gave us. Overall, when thinking of the bill and that it is trying to sell it's self as a high end steak house, I would rather head to Kzoo and go to Websters or up to GR. It is fun to be able to head right out and gamble of that is your thing though.

For the price, this place is pretty low class with mediocre food and service. I'll pass.

We arrived at 9:45pm and were seated at a cute, cozy little couch and table setup. The hostess handed us both a drink menu and a separate food menu. Looking through it, I was thrilled to see quite an expansive cocktail list broken down by "chapters," as well as several small snack options clearly marked with a gluten-free (GF) label. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit disappointing once we tried to order. Despite the online hours stating the venue closes at 11:00pm our server informed us that the kitchen was already closed. There is no indication online of what time the kitchen closes, and it was incredibly disappointing to be handed a dedicated food menu by the hostess only to be told moments later we couldn't order anything. When I asked our server for recommendations and which specific cocktails were gluten-free, she mentioned she was new and had to go check. She returned about 10 minutes later, only to give a vague answer that "most drinks were gluten-free" without offering an actual recommendation or helpful suggestion. My husband ended up ordering a non-alcoholic drink, but between the kitchen confusion and the lackluster service, I opted not to get anything at all. It's a cool venue with a lot of potential, but they should put their kitchen hours online and better train their staff on the menu.

It's next door to their sister restaurant, Lovejoy. Walking in, the space is very dimly lit with a nice bar and some cozy seating. We were directed to a couch and a couple of low chairs. The menu is organized into different "chapters," with different themes for each chapter. They also have beer, wine, spirit-free options, and a spirits list. I wanted something fun, so I chose the Don the Beachcomber, a rum-based tiki cocktail that is flamed tableside. My friend got the Obstacle No. 1, which is a bourbon drink that they smoke at your table. Very theatrical and fun! These drinks were $20+ so pretty pricey, but worth it for a fun occasion. We had a nice time just relaxing and catching up. I would say it's not a great spot for a large group, but definitely a fun date night place. They have a small food menu of offerings from the restaurant next door that sounded tasty. We had just eaten but I'd be interested in their small plates. I'm so glad I got to experience this place. It feels like you're transported to a secret speakeasy when you enter!

It was a hot day, but after work the patio was out of the sun, so we opted for a table outside. The patio is cute. I like that there are a bunch of 2 person tables rather than large party tables, and the lights are nice. Our server was very pleasant. She definitely knew what she was talking about and was able to tell us if something was going to be super sweet, and which drinks were more popular. Also, after she seated us and gave us the menu she gave us a few minutes and came back with waters and little samples of lavender lemonade, which was really good! I ordered the rosemary gin fizz, and my friend ordered one of the zero proof mocktails. She was warned it would be sweet, and she said it was definitely sweet for her taste. I was told my gin fizz was a little sweet as well, but I didn't find it to be overly sweet. I thought it was really nicely balanced, and wasn't excessive on any of the individual flavors. I was hoping for a little more of a salted rim, but it had more of a decorative salt patch on the side. That's the only thing I would probably change about it. Oh, and it's called a fizz, but is definitely still, not sparkling. While we weren't there to eat, and it is a distillery, not a restaurant, I did expect to see a few more food options. I can't knock them for that though, as we didn't try any. Overall, I would go back here for a quick happy hour or to have a quick drink again before an event. I liked the space, the service was great, and the cocktail was really pleasant.
