I thought it was time for an update. The Shoe Market in Hingham continues to impress me with its selection of shoes...for men and women and for it's excellent customer service. I love the staff here, some of whom I have come to know. I sometimes have to stop myself from going to the Shoe Market "just to browse" because for me, there is no such thing. I almost always will find a pair of shoes, sandals or boots that I "must" have. Over the years they have increased the number of clothing items they sell. While the clothing area is still small...this is a shoe store after all....I have purchased the occasional item. A dress, a top, jacket, etc. There is a small dressing room for trying things on. Recently I bought two fun long-sleeved tee-shirts to wear on our boat. Generally speaking I am not a tee-shirt person but these were quality cotton, and had sailing references on them. Whomever is selecting the clothing items to sell is doing a great job. I was in the store two days ago because while in Maine on a recent vacation, I stumbled upon a pair of flip flops made by a company called Oofos. These flip flops (and the flat-heeled clogs also made by the same company) were incredibly comfortable..maybe the most comfortable sandal/clog I have ever tried on. I didn't buy the flip-flops (or the clogs) in Maine and after we left I was kicking myself for not having done so. So I googled the company and searched under store locations. It mentioned that Shoe Market sold Oofos. Indeed when I showed up the other day I found the very flip-flop I was looking for. Yay! (PS Highly recommend the brand...Oofo). But this good news doesn't stop there...several years ago, the Shoe Market instituted a rewards program. Each time you buy a pair of shoes, the cost is factored into your rewards account...I don't remember exactly how it works. All I know is that when I went to pay for the Oofos, the sales associate told me they were FREE...I had more than enough rewards credit to pay for them...with still a hefty amount left over for the next time I go shopping. Win-win! Love Shoe Market and love my new Oofo flip-flops. Summer isn't over. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. As I was purchasing 2 pairs of shoes (costing over $100 each) the sales associate was extremely unprofessional. The shoe was defective ($130 shoes) and I asked if she had access to another pair and then proceeded to tell me she doesn't have access to any and wouldn't take any percentage off. So I bought them, searched amazon prime and found them for 50$ cheaper, returned them and let her know I found the SAME product with less hassle than a bitchy sales associate That store is a rip off! read more

I went into the store a few weeks ago, and there were two sales people behind the desk as you walk in. I went over to look at a few things and the item I wanted to look at was high on the shelf. At some point I thought one of them might come over. Then another customer entered the store and asked for help, one of the clerks went over to help her and it was then that the other clerk came over to help me.She took a couple of sizes down for me and then left to go back and chat with the other clerk. Oh man, am I in love with this place or what? Well, my husband doesn't quite love its effect on the wallet than I love it, but I digress. Anyway, I was never really keen on stopping in only because like other Yelpers have said, the selection looked very "dated" and not totally modern. With a snowstorm coming, I realized I needed new boots, and I figured it was worth the stop in. Well, I am glad I stopped in. I found a great pair of Hunter boots and the staff showed me the liners available that would keep my tootsies warm in the snow. The staff was really friendly, the selection was huge, and I was allowed to shop by myself as I pleased without a salesperson behind me every step of the way. Deciding between the Hunters and an actual pair of snowboots was tough and the sales staff were able to answer all my questions. They have a huge selection of shoes and sandals. Rather than driving to Braintree or in to Boston for fantastic shoes, try the Shoe Market!! read more

I don't live anywhere near this place but when I travel to Massachusetts for work (3-6 times per year) I make it my business to stop in. Their employees are a pleasure to work with, they really know their stuff. They know shoes / boots and feet. They can tell you what will work for you. They also have a unique selection - not your average shoes you find at big department stores. One of my favorites is EARTH shoes. Drop in and try a pair (or two) on. I have stopped by shoe market twice while browsing around derby street shops. This is one of those shoe shops that has all of the boxes of sizes sitting out so you can help yourself. I prefer this over having to ask them to bring a size from the back. It makes it a lot faster and more convenient. They have a good selection of shoes, mostly designer brands. They had a decent selection of hunter, converse and bogs that I checked out. Their prices were a little more expensive than zappos. read more

Had the most rude sales associate and manager tonite. They accused my husband of wearing the shoes outside that we were exchanging. There was fuzz on the bottom, either from the carpet in the store or at our home from trying them on. They were so rude. It is so refreshing to shop at a store with great customer service. I had a problem with a shoe I purchased about a month ago. They ordered me a replacement pair to solve the problem without any issues. So few places offer any service even if you have a quality issue. I am always confident shopping here and love the selection. I know you may be able to save a few dollars shopping online but no place will offer the service with the selection. I am not impressed. Yes I've shopped here a few times. But this time was not so good. No one in the store. But the two employees were too busy killing time by talking and conversing with one another instead of helping us! Really? We had a hard time looking for shoes especially the style and size. We spend about a good solid 10 minutes before they decided to mosey on over to us and thus had the guts to ask if we needed help. We walked out after we said we're set. Did they acknowledge us? Not only do I love their commercials, but the staff is as friendly in person as on tv. It is hard to find such quality personalized services these days. The staff is knowledgeable and spend the time you need to find the right fit, so to speak. You really get the personal touch of a small business here. 47 year-old, African American physician who fell in love with this store and Fly of London shoes yesterday 9/17/16. I work very hard and I am a marathon runner who has had two foot surgeries over the past 12 months. I walked in expecting to buy a very frumpy yet comfortable pair of Fitflop loafers and left with 3 pair of Fly of London high fashion wedge shoes! The staff was simply amazing. The store was very busy yet I felt well attended to and highly respected. They gave me helpful comments regarding how the shoes looked on my feet and what I could wear the Fly of London boots with! They had my size in everything and a wonderful selection of colors and styles. Get off of Zappos and Amazon and support your local shoe store! I have shopped here before with no problems but I had a terrible experience yesterday. There were two employees in the store and two other customers. My daughter was interested in a pair of Sperrys. Even though we sat and waited for someone to help us, an employee just walked by without acknowledging us. A woman finally came over when we started going through the boxes and asked if we needed help. She didn't make eye contact and asked in a way that made it seem like we were inconveniencing her. I am really disappointed in the service we were given, I'm not sure if we will visit again. With the prices they charge, they should be a little more courteous. read more
