We split a child's chicken strips with fries and an adult plate cheeseburger and onion rings and two pieces of the famous hot fudge cake! Tonight was a big disappointment. I enjoy the buffet on occasion. The fried chicken was tough and unseasoned. I took two bites from a beautiful breast and that was an enough. The green beans had way too much salt but the biggest embarrassment was the mashed potatoes-actually potato batter!!! I don't understand how anyone could present those potatoes!!! I was merely a customer of this restaurant after having my hair done for a wedding with my mother, sister & niece. We arrived during the breakfast buffet time frame, but right on the cusp of it ending. Our waitress was so sweet & was kind enough to ask why we were "done up so nice" for breakfast. It felt like we were valued & she was so nice to talk to. The food was decent for a buffet. Even though they were about to start transitioning to lunch, they did refresh the breakfast options. They had clear, plastic gloves for each customer to use when serving their own food. I thought that was a good idea, pandemic or not, so as to limit the transmission of germs when using the serving utensils. We were in & out pretty quickly. We all found that we had a pleasant experience. I live in NH & we do not have a Shoney's, but if we did, I would visit for a good buffet! read more

Food bar choices are good. Prices have drastically increased for the quality of food at this establishment. Staff is friendly.

Outstanding, friendly service, clean restaurant and restrooms, good food. Convenient location, and employees seem to like their jobs.

Went 40 minutes before closing for a very quick dinner. Made it easy and just order water and the bar. We made sure when. We got there that it was not an inconvenience. The service was terrible, no plates at the bar, no refills, most of the food was gone and the rest was old. Got done and checked out at 9, which was their closing time. When I asked if the salad bar was cheaper with out the full bar, they lied. I don't have one nice thing to say about this place. Drive a little farther and go to the one in Lenoir City! read more

Stopped here with a group of 10 after an 8 hour trip from WV. Last year we stopped at nearby Cracker Barrel which has a better menu and ambiance, but we got the feeling that they waited for our group to arrive before arranging the seating we had asked for and reserved in advance, because it was about 20 minutes before we were seated. At Shoney's, we were seated immediately in the back section, designed for small groups. We had the Easter Dinner Buffet. Salad bar is basic. They have a few of the usual vegetable and potato offerings. The ham looked dried out and unappetizing. The shrimp was dry. The catfish was actually VERY GOOD, and I went back for seconds. Even though I suspect most of their offerings are prepared offsite and warmed up or fried on site, the catfish apparently was moving quickly, because my fillets were hot out of the fryer. Overall, I am not looking for Shoney's for that special dining experience, and this visit once again reaffirmed why I feel that way. read more
