Today we were going to try a new restaurant in Farragut, but the wait line was out the door, so we went to Cracker Barrel. Our server was Dylan who was pleasant, knowledgeable, and an overall likable young man. During our time there, he returned to our table several times and asked if our food was to our liking and if he could provide anything else for us. I ordered the Biscuit Benny which is CB's version of Eggs Benedict. It is a biscuit with choice of ham, sausage, plant-based sausage or bacon, eggs and Hollandaise sauce. Finished with a tomato-green-onion blend garnish and a choice of two sides. I chose the bacon with hash brown casserole and spicy baked apples as my sides. When the food arrived at my table, it was the most beautiful plating job I have seen at a CB. Instead of the nondescript white plates, mine was a blue and white Dresden design. The biscuits were fluffy, the eggs cooked perfectly (when I cut into them, the yolk ran liberally over my biscuits) and bacon was covered in a delicious Hollandaise sauce, with colorful diced green onions and tomatoes. The hash brown casserole was divine and the apples cooked to perfection. Considering many restaurants who are raising their prices, I thought for $12.49, I got a delicious bargain. I had to give kudos to and tip the cook as well who prepared the most delicious meal I have had to date at a CB and plated it with artistic aplomb (see attached photo). My husband has been wanting for seven years to try the fried chicken at Cracker Barrel, we've tried many other things... but we had just returned from a trip to Nashville and decided around 8 o'clock at night that we'd stop in and order his craving. Four piece fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans and we decided four pieces was enough between the two of us just split . I ordered a side salad as well. I asked the waitress what the four pieces were, if there was a choice. Her reply was "there are pieces of chicken." I explained to her the chicken has drumsticks, wings, breasts, thighs. ..." oh she said...... I can go ask!" No worries, we'll take what comes ! Room temperature, fried chicken, obviously been sitting under their lights or somewhere... dried out mashed potatoes that were the color of I'm not quite sure... with a crust on top.... Only because they too have been sitting somewhere for a while, cool to the touch. Green beans were also barely lukewarm. We have been to Cracker Barrel many times and typically are happy but have noticed that that southern comfort style and grace is a little bit far and in between ... Cracker Barrel is comfort food, good old fashion meals that should be served hot . This was 8 o'clock at night. There was not a lot of people dining in at this time. And I'm not sure why they felt that serving this type of fare was acceptable. We also had to ask for a basket of rolls, which typically have always been a combination of biscuits and cornbread... there were just biscuits. We got up and asked to speak to management..... which did finally come out at the back kitchen area.... Obviously not overseeing what type of food was being served. She was kind apologized, offered us food to go or whatever at that point we weren't interested at all. I certainly hope that the management at the Cracker Barrel's.... take some management concern in helping especially number one their servers that don't understand the baskets of biscuits and cornbread come out with the meals and that there are different parts of a chicken.... And the server definitely should pay attention to the food they're serving, and if it doesn't look fresh and hot that they need to return it to the person preparing the meals. I honestly don't know how that food even left the kitchen. Nobody was obviously looking at the food they were serving. Truly disappointed and hoping again that management makes corrections in these areas. read more

Samanth our server provided such wonderful and attentive server during our breakfast. The food was the normal breakfast, pancakes, eggs and coffee but blueberry pancakes were made to perfection, sunny side up eggs were delicious, we had a table of 5 and we all ordered the momma's breakfast special is the best bang for the buck! Visited 2/12/2020 First time and most likely the only time. Tried this place because I kept hearing the fried chicken was good. Well the chicken was tasty I'll give it that. Not the best ever but not bad. Mashed potatoes with the white country gravy were just OK. The gravy was very under seasoned. The steamed cabbage side was terrible. It was very over cooked to the point of being extremely mushy and needed some seasoning. The corn muffins lacked in flavor. The regular biscuit was ok but flavorless. The fried shrimp was lots of bread not much shrimp. Hush puppies were tasty. The salad was fresh and crisp. Sadly the soda had a strange flavor like the soda guns need cleaning. OK, so I've gotten to go orders from this location many times. I always add a 15% tip every time just to appreciate their efforts and that they are working hard. I'm always friendly to these people. orders are accurate most of the time. So on Friday night I went there to get my order and just asked if biscuits were in there. they kind of just assumed that they were. They close the bag so tightly it's clear they don't want you to check but I mean seriously. So I was able to get into the side of the bag to see that there were two biscuits included - OK. I get home and realize the Coca-Cola cake is not there at all. Half an hour to get there I wasn't going back that night so I called back. No answer. Call the second time somebody answered then transferred me to another number and no answer. Called the third time and let it ring till somebody answered. Explained the situation was very friendly. They said they were not authorized to approve me coming back and getting the piece of cake that I paid for but they would submit it to a manager who would call me back. Nobody called me back. So on Sunday I called and they seemed very nice and I explained the situation and they said they would include the cake with my to go order. So i got there and when they came out with my order I just asked politely to make sure the cake was in there and she seemed annoyed that I would even ask. I think it's a fair question; I would think asking a question can be included when giving a 15% tip. So then I got home and here's what the cake looks like; please see attached photo. Did somebody just scrape the bottom of the pan off and dump it in here? Is this an indirect way of giving me the middle finger because I somehow inconvenienced them? I can't believe it but... Cracker barrel doesn't have a bad breakfast. That being noted, it's still not the healthiest food that you can get. Obviously. So what did we order? A fried chicken benedict with pimento cheese and the double meat option, lacking the "double" but it wasn't too bad just that it lacked all the things that I wanted. The benedict wasn't bad and it had a good amount of flavor that came with it. The amount of food that was on the plate was really good and well it wasn't inedible. However, I do want to note that this dish is only a limited time. Now, the double meat. This description on the menu sounded amazing. Double bacon, double all the meats, etc. I thought I was going to be drowning in the amount of meat that was about to be served. What came out? Three pieces of bacon and two small sausage patties. That's sort of the definition I guess? I would think one order would come with two pieces, so double I would automatically think 4 pieces of each: 4 pieces of bacon and 4 pieces of sausage or something along those lines. What's double of 3? I'm guessing a normal order comes with 1.5 pieces of bacon then? Ugh, sorry to vent, but it just doesn't make logical sense. All in all, it's not bad but I probably won't be coming back every weekend. I'm just saying if I can't think of a craving I want to satisfy, Cracker Barrel can be on that list of brunches on Sunday. Stopped in for dinner after taking in a movie.. it was probably one of the best meals I have had at Cracker Barrel in some time. Wife got the southern chicken meal and I got a country fried steak meal. Food was hot and delicious for us both. Service was good too. There was literally no flavor to the meal. I would not think of Cracker Barrel if I wanted eggs Benedict. But I guess with the rapid growth of brunch places in the South, they got to adapt. The fried chicken Benedict bowl was great. Obviously they stucked to their southern roots and served it with pimento cheese instead of Hollandaise sauce and biscuits instead of an English muffin. The biscuits were fluffy as always. If this was any other brunch place, this would have a $12-15 dish; however, it was only $9 here. This was a limited menu dish, but I do hope it will show up on their main menu soon. read more

I drove a few extra miles to this Cracker Barrel location looking forward to a southern home cooked meal. My experience here was terrible. I was provided a Child's glass for my ice tea and charged an adult drink price. In addition to the child's glass my waitress left me sitting for 30 minutes without coming back even 1 time. So I paid nearly $3.00 for only a few ounces of iced tea. It was obviously intentional poor service and fraud to be given a child's glass and charged the adult drink price. Other adult patrons that night were also provided a child's glass. After making my bad experience known to the manager I was given a free meal for myself and others. When I redeemed the free meal ticket larger drink glasses were on every table. I felt as if I were a sack of trash in the chair that night not a valued customer. read more

Why do hosts try to cram everyone into tables that already have other people sitting really close together? If a member of the dining party is a larger person, PLEASE be sensitive enough to forego the seating chart and go with your gut and seat people where they will FIT and not at the next table that is on the list! Larger people need space to get in and out AND ensure that the other customers sitting close by can ALSO get in and out easily! It's called paying attention and having empathy. Since when do biscuits NOT come out with jam and honey packs? And our server was so "unseen" that getting any was not happening. Doesn't everyone look forward to the delicious jam at CB? My friend ordered the steak and 2 sides which I don't recall. Zero Flavor! How is that even possible! Well it was. A steak that cried out for salt and pepper and steak sauce. That's sad. I ordered Haddock with okra and green beans and salad. The fish was great but um...but are you sure it was haddock and not flounder? We both questioned it since we both eat a lot of fish. The veggies were okay. We took Apple pie home and it needed some serious seasoning/spices to make it taste like pie. I dunno. CB is off my list. I don't care if friends come to town and want to go. These establishments can't be trusted any more because of the inconsistency found. Second: MANAGER! If one of your employees is VISIBLY IN PAIN...send that person home and cover their work or find someone that can. My friend has a life threatening allergy to cheese and despite making that clear to the waiter, David gave him cheese anyway, which could've killed him. Our waiter the first time was new, he brought out our food and then minutes later brought the receipt, no question of whether we were planning on dessert. But he was new so that's okay. Last night we had Jacob as our waiter and he was so kind. Checked on us a few times and we we were close to being done he came to ask if we wanted drinks to go or dessert and then once he got our response he brought out our receipt. He was just really nice. We have been patrons of this Cracker Barrel for many years. It sad to see this restaurant decline the way that it has since Covid. It use to always be full. Now it's like a ghost town except for Saturday mornings. We visited a couple of nights ago. We were told someone would seat us shortly. After about 10 minutes we finally alerted the door greeter. All of a sudden a group of employees scattered and a hostess came. We were seated in the back dining area. I'm not exaggerating half of the tables had dishes just sitting. And when we left they were still there. No one even bothered. And like I said there were less than a dozen customers in the entire restaurant at 5:00pm. The food quality was not anywhere close to par from Crackerbarrel standards. Very poor management in my opinion. If they don't change soon I don't see them surviving.
