Three of us went shooting here yesterday afternoon. We knew Saturday afternoon would be busy and it was. We were told an hour wait for a private suite and I think we waited about 65 minutes, so they have a pretty good handle on the expected wait times. Suite word be really great for 2 people. It was a little crowded for 3, with a few handguns and 2 rifles. I think perhaps they should consider a couple wall mountable 12" deep fold down shelves in perhaps 36" widths, instead of the cart they used for a table. Cart was a little large and with a couple of fold down shelves you put up what you want. We did really like the idea of the private suite, especially for rifle use. Also, they will let you shoot magnums! So many indoor ranges will not let you do that any longer. Airflow/filtering system seemed capable to ensure comfortable environment. Range is clean and well organized overall. Lots of folks renting guns. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. That is often NOT the case at gun ranges. Generally lots of knowledge but lacking in social/customer skills ... So this was a big plus. We'll be back. Next time I'd like to look at some of the items they have for sale and the rental guns, but it was a little crowded on Saturday, so we didn't want to stand in line. read more

Okay I been back a few times since my last review so I decided to update the current status. And Customer service has continue to be excellent as always. Never have any issues with the employees there. Firearm transfer has been speed up dramatically. I was skeptical at first to have it sent there since the last few times was a little slow compare to other places I had transfer to. That really impressed me. As for coming to the range to shoot, it is still a long wait on wknd. I guess due to the booming business and not enough lanes. Not much can be done about that. Pros: Can rapid fire in suite. I wish I could leave negative stars; with the poor customer service that I received. The fact that they told me 10 minutes before they closed, they were not going to be able to get me in, After I have been waiting and receiving updates for hours. They do not take into consideration the fact that people are going off of their text message on the wait time. I called and was told there was no wait. I had asked to put my name down, just in case people would arrive, Thinking that I was getting a spot for a group (4+). They did not inform me that a class started at 6pm and they close at 7pm, not 8pm. I wasn't able to get a traditional lane. (Pretty much waiting for nothing now) I went back and asked what the deal was since I saw so many people getting helped and no one helped us. Very disappointed in this companies best practices... haven't been to the range since I purchased the monthly membership, called on 23 March to cancel as we were moving to a shelter in place circumstance due to COVID-19. The man I spoke to on the phone immediately told me they were closed for business indefinitely and that if I cancelled I would lose 60 training credits... when I asked him if I could get refunded for the next month since the inability to use the facility is not if my own volition (you know like ALL the other companies big and small business) he said no. Well that'll be my last charge with them and I will be sure to direct my fellow servicemembers who require regular shooting time to another indoor range. read more

First time there and I was forced into the suite due to having a shotgun and AR15. No where on the site did I find those rules as I read all the range rules and I am an experienced shooter. Had to pay double the price due to this. Facility is not very bright in the suite either to see targets well. For a suite that I'm forced to shoot on with an AR I expect way more that 15 yards. If they would have at least showed me those rules in plain sight or only charged me the personal lane as interest in I might have come back. This was the first and last time here. read more

I've wanted to go to a shooting range for years and when I saw a Groupon before my trip to Texas, I said hell yeah! It's nice that you can queue online but I wish you could make reservations too. We got there and I checked in, the guy who helped me originally was very nice. I made it clear it was my first time and had absolutely zero knowledge of shooting. They said no problem we can go over things with you when it's your turn. We picked out our targets and gun and waited our turn. Fyi, there's no time limit hence the estimated waiting times are pretty arbitrary. About an hour later we were told our lane (requested a private lane) was ready. Went in and the target was a used one so I went back out and asked the guy who said, "Oh you didn't get your target?" I told him no and it was our first time. All he replied was, "Oh, no one said it was your first time." then pointed to the target drawers. Another guy helped me out and I went back to my lane. We got some basic help from another worker there and proceeded to shoot. After our first round we decided to switch guns. We finished a round with that one and decided to call it a day. The guy in the next lane was using a shotgun and despite our ear plugs it was loud. Overall the customer service is great, except that one guy (wish I got his name). And with the Groupon it's an awesome deal. If you're interested in shooting this is a great place. read more

If you prefer indoor ranges then this place is the place for you. They're usually packed so try to call ahead of time to check wait times. The staff is very friendly and helpful especially when you are trying to rent a gun to shoot and trying to decide which one to shoot. They have a great assortment of guns and if your a gun fanatic like me then this place will satisfy some of your needs as they carry ZEV glocks. Went in with a friend to have our muzzle breaks installed on our hunting rifles. Mine came out decent and then my friends rifle wasn't aligned correctly. Wanted to speak with the gunsmith to make sure it was normal or ok. We were told by Daniela that he had already left in the 2 minutes that we were there. She then raised her voice and in a bad tone, told us it's normal for the washer to be misaligned. I don't see how she is the front counter worker if her customer service isn't great. I use to recommend a lot of my customers to shoot smart. But now will recommend them elsewhere like Eagle Gun range. Where they treat their customers with respect. Don't try this place until after COVID, but even in the midst of this, we had the worst customer service and it's no excuse in my opinion. When asked about the pricing for rapid fire lanes, the cashier coldly pointed to a sign in front of the register as if we were annoying or inconveniencing him. K. Thanks. Like they clearly want our business. We brought our own targets but purchased a single lane with an additional shooter for $30 total and then asked about buying ammo. He said that it was limited to one box of 50 per caliber. There's no signs anywhere saying this and when I called ahead to inquire about pricing and availability of lanes they didn't say anything about it. We usually wait to buy ammo from the ranges we go to in order to support them but one box of 50?? With no explanation or any reason why the limit, just saying no. So we paid $50+ to basically go shoot for less than an hour and be done. Had we known there was a limit on ammo, we would have brought our own. They want our business...? When he saw our targets and was ringing us up, he brought up that we had our own and we brought up that usually a target or two is included in lane rentals at other ranges, including shoot smart. He just said NO. Again, no explanation. When we finished shooting our own targets and 50 rounds, I thought I'd just go ask and double check if I really couldn't buy another box of ammo, and both cashiers just shook their heads and said no. Again, NO explanation. Even a lie or bs excuse like "I'm sorry no we're trying to limit it for Covid" or ANYTHING. But there was nothing. We were clearly inconveniencing them with our questions and business. On our way out they asked "are y'all done?" And we just said yep.... I mean, two pistols, 150 rounds and our own targets, yeah we're done. But really I wanted be like yeah we're done here for good. Thanks. And wanted to give them the bald eagle bird on the way out. It was pretty clear across the board that this was the attitude and environment we were walking into, this wasn't a one off thing. This was our first and last time here. We'll take our business elsewhere at other ranges that are selling ammo in bulk, happy to have our business and answer our questions about operations. read more

Great staff, pistol range and private suites where you shoot rifles. It's not a big range for rifles at least. They have gun rentals and sales. It's a small place so not much room for anything. It's busy most of the time because there isn't another range close by in this area so the wait can be very long. You can sign in and they will text you when it's near your turn which can be helpful when you go grab some food or chill at home till it's your turn. Average wait time for private suites when I go is usually around 1.45 hour wait. read more

I've only tried the private lanes (up to 4 people). First person pays full price of the lane. Each additional person is 1/2 price. Great air circulation, didn't have to breath in gun powder or have it fog up my vision. I like their gun rental. You pay one time fee of $13.50, you can exchange it unlimited times. You do not have to purchase their ammo. They do check the type of ammo you bring and it must be factory. I recommend coming during happy hour, it is $5 per person. I've been on a mission to turn Paul into a Texan and I think our state's affection for firearms brought him over to the right side. We've been coming here regularly and I really really love it here. The private lanes are secluded and you can really just relax and shoot until you run out ammo. It's really helpful for a novice like myself. Pricing on the weekends are a little higher than on weekdays so if your schedule is flexible- hit up there during happy hour Mon-Thurs 2-4pm for $5 in the regular lane. The staff is super friendly and helpful, if your rifle gets jammed- there's someone there to help you out. They will let you rent for a flat rate which is nice. They also have lead removing soap in the bathroom so don't forget to wash your hands after you leave! The ventilation here is so good that it can get a little chilly- yay for not a lot of heavy smoke but do dress warmly so you can shoot comfortably. read more

This place is great! My fiancee and I came in, and this was our first time at a shooting range. Marlene was especially helpful, patient, and took the time to explain everything fully so that we felt comfortable. Prices are great too. Lane rental is full price for 1, and then half price for a 2nd person. Since it was a weekday, it wasn't especially crowded, and at one point we had the entire room to ourselves. For a pistol, we only had to pay for 1 rental between the two of us, and had the freedom to switch it out as many times as we wanted. Other than that, we bought 2 boxes of 50 rounds of ammunition. All in all, we paid $80, and shot 5 pistols for 100 rounds, with no time limit. Clean, friendly, and a great selection of guns. Shoot Smart in Grand Prairie has good people. They unfortunately have to work with what equipment they have which is not there fault. They are always helpful and the combined experience with the staff is phenomenal. A lot of customers still do not understand what "Unlimited Range" time means. This is a reason I like Shoot Smart. You pay your range fee and you are not bothered or concerned about time. The staff is the ones getting asked constantly when a lane will be opening up. With unlimited shooting, it's impossible to predict. Some shoot 20 minutes and others 4 hours. I go to another range as well that is unlimited, but around 2 hours, they start asking how much longer. Of course I always say when I am done. You will not get that at Shoot Smart, which I like. I certainly do not like pay by the hour ranges. So use Shoot Smart website to get in line. If you decide to go to the range after getting in line, let the staff know so they know you are in the store. But pls don't ask staff how much longer. It's UNLIMITED shooting. Thank you. Good sized range in Grand Prairie. It's very clean, and the staff is super helpful, and friendly! They are willing to help you out and answer any questions you have. There's private suites and regular suites. Private suites is intended for people who are shooting rifles, and the regular suites are for only hand guns. I actually prefer the private suite more because you get your own "room" basically. So have More privacy because there is a huge cylinder blocks wall separating the rooms. Today we got the regular suite It's worth while to get a membership because you pay less each time going to the range. Amazing spot for rentals!! I visited Shootsmart on Grand Paire on July 4th. Great clean place, the staff was young, friendly and knowledgeable, which I always appreciate. Their "tab" like system makes it very convenient although be mindful that your total may skyrocket up. Originally from California I wanted to shoot some non roster handguns. I got my hands on the FNX-45 Tactical, beretta APX, HK VP9 and the Sig M17. Prices are amazing, less than $50 can get one person a whole day of range and rentals. Ammunition is NOT too expensive, although don't expect "Target Sports USA" prices, I would call the prices "standard". The range is clean and modern. Eyes, ears, and staples are included amazingly enough. All in all, an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend. read more

You can shoot your pistols just as well in either, but the private booth was nice as there's nobody standing behind you. On the other hand, you can't talk with other gun enthusiasts in a private lane. The waits can be long, but that tells me that there's a reason it's so popular. The public lanes are a shorter wait. They offer free eye and ear protection, which is great. Their "store" is wells tocked and you can rent all sorts of different sidearms to shoot. Shoot Smart in Grand Prairie really surprised me. I am used to paying around $20 to use an outdoor range without a retractable target and these ranges can be kind of a bore and a bit dangerous. You never really know if the guy next to you knows what he is doing. Shoot Smart has reasonable priced private lanes where its just you and a friend in a brick tunnel. I find this safer and more comfortable to practice. The place was very clean, bathrooms were nice, they had a few handguns on a turnstile to play with. Really a great place. I have to agree with James G on that stupid damage fee, I was also shooting with my wife when that target holder got stuck and needed assistance, since there was paint missing from it I got charged that 50.00 damage fee. I paid it than 2 days later I forgot I had taken a picture with my camera phone of myself with my gun before we started shooting, I zoomed in and noticed that freaking target holder had missing paint before I had fired a shot, of course I saw it after the fact.
