Shop Rite in Wayne is always my store of choice. It has the best prices and is convenient. The parking lot is easy to maneuver as well.

This store is the worst. Most employees act like they couldn't care any less that you're there. Most cashiers don't say hi, they barely look at you in the face. The baggers, when they have them, have no idea what they're doing and just throw stuff in the bag with no thought. The deli is the absolute worst. Aside from a rare few times, the workers are not friendly. They are super slow. They take their time getting around to asking who's next while chatting to one another. They can't be bothered to click the number they're serving and they get annoyed when you ask them to show you how they're slicing something. Today there were 2 people being helped by two workers with me and one other guy waiting to be helped. One of the workers was very new and it was clear she required help finding things. Long story short, when the more experienced guy finished with his customer, he walked away and decided to work on an order that was written on a piece of paper instead of help the waiting customers leaving the new woman alone to help everyone. It took forever for her to find the products that were requested. When it was finally my turn I had to tell her to click the number so the customers could know where they stood. Last week this same woman was asked by another customer if they don't want to update the number they're serving and she just laughed like she didn't know what to do about it. Another girl that waited on me last week told me that I couldn't have the cheese I requested even though it was in the case. When I pointed it out to her in the display she said 'we're not allowed to use the products in the case, you can ask the manager'. What?? I said, don't you need to rotate it anyway?? Getting back to today, the new lady that finally helped me, I had to tell her what she was slicing wasn't what I requested and she had to have a new worker that just came on shift to finish my order because her shift was over. The item that I ordered was on sale up on the big sheets on the wall but it was coming up at the wrong price. It was on sale for $6.99 but kept coming up $8.49. Even though she agreed the price was wrong there was nothing she could do about it. She told me to go to customer service and see if they'll fix the price for me. Really? I haven't wasted enough time already, now you want me to go stand on that line? Today, two people walked away and said it's not worth it while I was getting my 3 items sliced. Every time I go to this deli I ask myself why am I back here. I just don't understand where management is and why these people aren't trained properly. I blame the managers for their poor training and lack of supervision. You never experience this kind of lack of service at the Lincoln Park or Oakland Shoprites. I think it's gonna be worth the ride for me from now on! read more

Update: A very nice woman from Inserra Supermarkets customer service sent me an email addressing the problem I had and it was resolved to my satisfaction. The Wayne Shoprite store manager called me and told me to come in and he refunded the money I paid for the meat that was bad. I will continue to shop and buy my meat at Wayne Shoprite. I understand that things have changed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and precautions have to be taken and I understand that refunds can't be made just because you don't want a product. I appreciate doing business with a company that stands behind the meat products it sells when that product is no good. read more

In these times with covid 19 this shoprite is not doing it's part to keep people safe. They were not limiting the people coming in, and their shop from home associates were positively scary and not afraid to get in your face... They have arrows on the floor directing aisle traffic one way and for the most part people were following them except for a few senior citizens and there shop from home associates. In one aisle traffic was moving a little slowly and but people were keeping distance until one of their shop from home people came barreling down the wrong direction. This is the most DISORGANIZED Shoprite I've ever seen! Meat, cheese, dairy, bread, condiments, etc are scattered amongst the aisles. Inotherwords you can't just walk down ONE aisle and find ketchup, mayonnaise, salad dressing, mustard, etc. You have to look in 2 or 3 aisles. It looks like when supplies are delivered, they stock whichever shelves are empty and leave it up to customers to find it. On top of that, this place is MORE expensive than area Shop Rite stores. REDICULOUS guys. And shame on you... Managers of this place need to take a walk through shoprite in Lincoln Park, Paramus, Parsippany and GET A CLUE. read more

Sale items are frequently not in stock. And it takes much too long to get a rain check. When you come back a week or two later the rain check item frequently is not on the shelves. If they are unable to properly stock sale items they should offer rain checks that don't expire and/or substitutions. Most of the employees are apathetic and their bathrooms are usually unclean. read more

I can rarely find what I want easily in this shoprite. Doesnt make sense like other ones ive been to. Produce section is small. One whole wall of it is candy and nuts. Stop and shop has bigger fruit and veggies section. read more

Last Wednesday 10/2, around 11-11:30 o'clock in the morning when I shopped at this store I felt very much insulted by a cashier at the express line(the left line). I was going to buy a can of coffee on sale, but when I saw the price was still the original price I told the cashier i would not buy without the sale price. She replied if I had ShopRite card then i could have the on sale price. So I gave her the tax exempt card for the institution. However, to my surprise, the cashier asked me with a strong voice: " is this for yourself or for the organization"? I said of course for the origination, otherwise I would not have this card. But she did not seem to believe me, asking me again the same question. My answer remained the same. Finally I did not but it because our card is issued by the Little Fall ShopRite which can not be used at this location. I felt very much offended and intruded by this cashier for she has no business to ask me or anyone questions such as this. For sure i will Not return to this store anymore! read more

I have to say I had a much better experience today. Even though I said I was going to drive to Lincoln Park every time, I always cave when I think of how much closer and convenient the Wayne Shoprite is to my house and some of the other grocery stores in town I hit for other things. Today I was met with two friendly faces at the deli, and my meats were sliced PERFECTLY! I was so happy. Also, the cashier and customers were incredibly friendly today. I have been doing online shopping for years. I don't know if it is the employees who are getting your groceries are not trained properly. But I have had rotten fruit, missing items etc. Last week was the final straw my order time was between 5-7 and I received my order at 9 pm. I'm giving this place 4-stars only because of the Sushi they serve. It's better than most sushi restaurants. I enjoyed the girls behind the counter creating the sushi, they were extremely pleasant to deal with, the spicy california and spicy salmon made me happy. read more

Sunday I bought lunch meat at the deli Jeanne took care of me I told her thin three times she showed me the thing Knesset the last one was it very thin nearly could see through it.... now how come my first and second slice were Thin and nearly see through and they got steadily thicker from there... in my case inedible (I hate thick cuts) so now it will become dog food now how fair is that.......that would not happen at the Little Falls ShopRite . read more

Their prices are good and they usually have sale items in stock. So why two stars? Their "courtesy" counter is slow as molasses and anything but curteous. It's almost like they purposely avoid you until you get in their face. This is common in many Shop Rites; upper management should really really work on this. I have to concur with the majority of the viewers. Unfortunately, it is so close to where I live. I find myself going in for convenience & sale items. Deli is beyond slow. The Dexter Kiosk is almost always out of order & ordering on Dexter doesn't get your order done any quicker than if you waited on line. Items are all over the place & it lacks specialty items such as organic, gluten free,etc. Fruit is ok, produce is crappy. I find most of the employees are ok. Overall , the place lacks in cleanliness & overall presentation & selection. Thank god for stop & shop & Trader Joes! I may spend a little more, but it's worth it! read more

DEAR SHOPRITE: HIRE NEW DRIVERS!!! Got my food delivered late almost every time. Other times they left my food bags in the van or in the store and had to come back. One driver was 4 hours late. My friend who works there said drivers are not allowed to have anyone in the van, and this driver brings a friend. I feel cheap giving a small tip, but I don't think his friend should jump in and get a tip from me for carrying a couple bags. I doubt he was training this guy bc he's been to my house a dozen times. Marcia from the store is SO nice. Couple nice shopper employees, also a few lazy ones who don't look hard enough. Only use the delivery due to my illness that prohibits me from shopping for myself . The deli section is a major major problem! I have had multiple issues with the servers and there lack of! First of all it seems they all hate there job. Second they can care less if you are standing there waiting to order. I actually saw a worker take meat that he was slicing and put his fingers in his mouth and ate a piece. And then he sucked his fingers. Then he finishes what he was slicing bagged it up and put in the section they have it prepared for customers that rather not wait on the numbers to be called! And most of the people who wear hats grab there hats with the same gloves they use to handle the meats or cheese when they are cutting.! Just totally disgusting! 3 people waiting to order I was one of 3. There was 5 workers in the back and only one of the 3 people was being attended to. 2 bullshitten and talking the other 2 doing something but gods know. One even scream out loud I'm on my break! Really! Then go. Don't stand there! I have going here for 9 years! And This section has went down hill the past 2 years! To the point that I travel to other locations to grab my deli meats and cheese! And on another note if your looking for organic produce don't waste your time! There section is pitiful! This is the Shoprite closest to my house and open later than the one in Oakland, which are the only two reasons why I shop there at all. However after my experience tonight, as well as others, it might not even be worth that. The store's inventory stinks, the employees are rude, not to mention the manager is rude as well. Not a fan of this shoprite. They don't have much I'm looking for, produce is not good. Practically no organic or foods with ingredients I can read. Its close to me and cheap so I frequent this one. Every time I purchase flounder they claim its boneless but it has bones more than half the times. I can't buy fish there anymore bc my daughter is young and can't eat fish with bones. I was so thrilled to know that a Shop Rite was located by my new home as it is my preferred grocery store! This location however has a major issue with produce. Seems like they get second hand helpings as onions are always bruised, cucumbers are short and rot quickly, and never can I find a crispy bag of romaine heads that isn't brown or limp. Shop Rites of Morristown or Nutley should step in and help!! Disappointing... Will have to go down to stop and shop for my produce! read more

I will NEVER go back to this shopwrong! I went in the store to buy a ham to my surprise the ham was priced at $1.16 not my problem you should honor your advertised price! The cashier called a manager who swiped the price tag and switched it with another one for $39.83. I kindly told them to take their ham and I would go somewhere else! The cashier then charges me anyway for the ham and then tells me oh i have to go to the courtesy counter because she made a mistake and charged me for the ham! NO WAY! Never Again!
