I have lived here for almost 2 years and hadn't tried shore shack yet. Finally did yesterday and I don't know why I haven't been there before. Not sure why this place has bad reviews! We came here after a photoshoot on the beach and this place was very empty. I ordered the jalapeño burger while my friends ordered fish sticks and a Philly steak. No complaints anywhere! My burger was obviously cooked to order and tasted great! It didn't wow me but it hit the spot and filled me up. The fish was thick with batter which usually isn't a good sign for me but I tasted them they were not bad! The fries were my favorite part of the meal. Looks like they use some batter on the fries too and they tasted amazing! My only complaint would be the seats, they were a little uncomfortable but that won't deter me from returning when I'm in the area again! This is a convenient location right by the beach I would suggest this place to anyone for a good burger. read more

Well that was awkward. The food wasn't bad, though. There's a place at home (Portland) that is almost exactly like this, but Shore Shack isn't as good. I had a crispy chicken sandwich basket. The chicken was so tiny that it was lost in the sandwich, but it tasted pretty good. The fries were acceptable. The problem was that I felt a little unwelcome at first, though less so at the end. Food was pretty good. Seems to be run by an older Asian couple now. They were friendly and welcoming. Service was fast but I was the only patron in there. I got a burger and a side salad. The salad seemed pretty expensive but it was big enough to be an entree. It had cheese, tomatoes, and bacon on it. The menus posted on Yelp are out of date, there is now a much more limited menu. Absolutely without a doubt the WORST place I have ever eaten at the beach! The "fish and chips" basket was $14.99. I was served 2 pieces of hard burnt fish - both were smaller than a pair of sunglasses & a portion of fries about the size of the palm of my hand. Total cost for a meal for a family of 4 was around $60. I was out raged when we got our food. I actually went & took my tip money out of the jar... There were only 2 people working (the owners) on a Spring Break beautiful beach day. The fact that there was no one in there should of been our first clue! Where to even begin? First of all my friends and I initially ordered the Calamari combo and the Jalepeno cheeseburger combo meal. The calamari combo was 10.99 and the cheeseburger combo was 8.99 as listed. When we got the receipt after paying it said 26.99 total. My friends and I are in the car talking about how it was possible for the price to be racked up to 26.99? Was it the extra lemon we asked for? Was it higher price than what was listed on the menu for the establishment? The lady at the window gave us a receipt with everything written out. She charged us separately for everything and did not make the items into a combo like we had ordered. She kept arguing with us about it and would not relent. Probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had and the lady was just trying to rip us off. Im sure she is used to people not noticing and just gets away with it. We arrived right after they opened and had friendly, if reserved, service. That's fine for us, because we don't expect restaurateurs to blast us with chipper-ness, lol. Prices were about average for a tourist town, and the selection was good. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich basket, and my husband ordered a mushroom bacon burger basket. I asked for mayo and lettuce only, and received thousand island, lettuce, and pickles. Oh, well! It still tasted delicious. The roll it came on was big and soft, and the chicken was a tasty chicken strip-type thing. The fries were fantastic! Tartar sauce for dipping was just ok. I could only eat half of my sandwich, but my husband said it was great later, even cold. Husband loved his mushroom bacon burger, and his was to his specifications. Our only real complaint is that you get 8oz (a "medium") of soda with your basket, and it costs a dollar to refill. We had plenty of water in the car, so it was fine for us, but still. We liked our food and will probably return next time we are in Ocean Shores. read more

Been here a few times now and every time the food has been superb! It's a Mom&Pop Shop that has a lot of heart as well as quality cooking. I can see it getting pretty busy and hectic on a busy day with just those two working but if you can exercise a bit of patience and understanding, it is well worth the wait! Great burgers and asian cuisines. I had the Double Bacon Cheeseburger and it had just the right amounts of grease and secret sauces to make my mouth water. My girlfriend had the Korean Bulgogi, a marinated beef saute, which I was told was a homemade recipe and it definitely tasted like it. Really delicious stuff here. I highly recommend you stop by if you're in the Ocean Shores area. Don't expect McDonald's quickness, but expect much higher quality and taste! read more

Great service, great food, great prices. It isn't 5-star dining but it is above what you would expect from major "box" establishments (Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc..) This is a great place for quick, friendly, classic greasy beach food. I lived out in New England for five years and this place has fish and chips nailed. To top it off the chowder is A+! Almost all prices are south of $7 and the portions are more than enough but not so much that it leaves you feeling like a beached whale on the shore. Add to all this that the service and quality of local businesses in Ocean Shore usually leaves something to be desired and you can bump this up to 5 stars. Ordered the hawaiian burger and crispy chicken sandwich and it was SO tasty, fresh, and delicious! It tasted home-made and not anything close to the quality of McDonalds or Burger King. The quality of the burger was similar to that of Five Guys. Obviously I'm a huge burger fan so I was very pleased with the kindness, quality, and overall superior service offered at Shore Shack! Finally tried this place for a burger, the place was filthy, my hands stuck to the table. Finally received my drink and burger, which was brought out while she was wearing the dirty gloves from cooking, my straw wrapper had raw hamburger on it, same gloves on while taking money and getting other drinks, the seats look like they haven't been cleaned ever, all in all probably the most disgusting contaminated place I have ever been, watched her take our food trays and dump in trash can, only to put back on stack to reuse, which was very grosse since she had them completely in the trash. So if you like food poisoning, eating off other people's dirty trays and tap water rinsed cups with other peoples spit on it, I highly recommend this place read more

This is a classic mom and pop place and it's great except that they need one more person to effectively run this place (perhaps a son, daughter or first cousin). Since mom was at the counter (and drive thru) while pop was in the kitchen the service was a tad on the slow side. Additionally, this contributed to the less than perfect cleanliness of the place. Fortunately, that did not detract from the quality of the food. The bacon double cheese was very good as was the teriyaki chicken sandwich. Fries and sandwiches came to the table hot though with a longer wait than expected. Decent experience overall but I'd love to see them work on their systems to improve their service and afford more time to take care of basic items like cleanliness. read more

Two years later and this place still has a great burger. Definitely a hole in the wall place but the burger was great just as it was when I was here previously. They changed the fries to the same as the kids menu which is why I came down a star. I wouldn't travel here for this burger but if you are craving a good one and can't stomach the McDs across the street, this is a great option. I ordered the Bulgoge which was the only good thing they had. My order also consisted of fish and chips with clam chowder and 3 kids meals. The fries were also really good, but the Chowder was barely warm, and the deep fried fish was really oily, as if the oil had not been heated up sufficiently. It was 12:30. Stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat a few days ago. Thought clam chowder would be fast and easy... I thought wrong. A man rung me up after his wife yelled at him to come help her.. he was sitting in a booth typing on a computer when I walked in. The woman was working so hard on a to go order and her husband wasn't concerned at all about my food. Finally he gets up and pops a container of chowder into the microwave!! I couldn't believe it. He then transfers it to a styrofoam bowl and hands it over to me. Will never be back here. Terrible service. My order was rung up wrong and I was told that I didn't order a cheeseburger, and ordered a hamburger. I never order burgers without cheese. Got back to the hotel and had to throw 3 out of 4 of our burgers away as they were burnt so badly that they were crunchy and tasted like straight charcoal. Well let's see. The burger's are great! I had a patty melt and it needs work along with the onion rings. There were no satiated onions on the melt and some kind of a mustered, mayo stuff. The onion rings were very soft and slimey inside like maybe old onion. The crust was great. They just started so let's hope they get it together. The owner was rude not friendly did not greet me and was on his laptop with his jacket on. I order bacon burger with fresh cut fries and small drink $10.33 it was nasty bun was burnt and 1 piece of bacon was cut in half. The fries was soaked in grease the garbage can was discussing with dirt and stains all over it on the outside. The restaurant has clutter everywhere with boxes of stuff in the front where customers can see the junk. Definitely will not recommend this place to eat at all because it's unfriendly, unclean and unsanitary the health inspector needs to pay them a visit. read more

We stopped here on our 3rd night in town after looking at the menu the day before. We didn't expect the chicken teriyaki to be so good; it was pleasantly surprising. Very tender chicken in light sauce served with fluffy white rice and a pretty good salad for $8.99. Very rarely have I had the meat cooked so it didn't have the burnt crispy little edges, which is not how it's supposed to be. I was pleased. The menu has a good variety of burgers, sandwiches, sides, seafood plates, and chowder. All are at competitive rates at other eat shacks. Compared to the sub-par mandarin food we had the 1st night, this stuff was delicious. I definitely want to try that philly cheese-steak or Hawaiian burger. I'll come back :-) read more

Even my simple Bacon Cheeseburger was very good, as was the Hawaiian burger. The hand cut fries were AMAZING! You will leave happy and full. Really nice owners! Location location location! Grabbed lunch here both days we were at the Razor Clam Fest. Went through the drive thru and drove down to the beach. Ate overlooking the surf. Awesome!
