Great spot. We found this place on the web. Not a long wait, service was great. They wear masks, they are attentive and the tables are distanced so it feels very safe and clean. We had the chilaquiles and the egg white scramble and a short stack of the orange juice pancakes as well as coffee. The chilaquiles we're delicious and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were well cooked but lacked seasoning. The pancakes were the worst part. They were very stiff. The coffee is super strong so add lots of sugar! We ate out on the sand and it was beautiful and we had great customer service. The items are very pricey as well but I guess you are paying for the nice location right on the sand. You can read about the great location on the beach, the great open glass design that allows great views.... but what really sucks is the manner of the girl working the reservation counter. Every Friday during the summer we come here to watch the sun set and enjoy some good food and great company. We've seen this restaurant cycle through owners, but always come back. Service is generally good and the manager, Enrique, knows we're regulars and often sends over an appetizer or desert on the house. The fish is always fresh, the burgers are great, but the real star of the show is their baja fish tacos with a delicious spicy aoili or chipotle sauce. They also make a mean mojito. The only thing I have to complain about is that often the spicy ahi (burger or just the steak) is a little salty - but if you remember to ask them to leave off the salt it might be much better. read more

After being here for a while im ashamed to say that i havent tried Shoreline and now i know never to eat anywhere else!!! The food was absolutely delicious and our server was truly amazing! His name was Fern and he was so sweet! I remembered he worked at casa and i also couldnt help but give him an incredible review. This guy is such a great worker! Not only was he insanely friendly but he was constantly checking in on us and refilling out drinks and clearing our table. If u ever go to shoreline and have Fern as your server, lucky u!!! Went here for breakfast on Saturday morning and got to eat with my feet in the sand and the rest of me in the sun. The service was great, good coffee drinks and lots of options for breakfast. The Location is unbeatable when you are looking to dine on the beach whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner. not only do they have an extensive patio seating, with plexi-glass walls surrounding, they have actual beach seating right behind the restaurant in the sand. The cocktails are watered down, and frankly not that great and the wine selection is limited and over priced. If you are going to drink definitely stick to the white wines and the beer. Seated right away. But took almost 10 minutes before a waitress came over to take our drink order. Even though this place was virtually empty and all the current patrons were already seated and enjoying their meals. So, they weren't busy by any means. Food comes out rather promptly. Its so so. Nothing crazy. But not bad either. The waitress never checks up on us. Even walks by us, 3 times, and looks at our empty glasses and never offers to refill them. Instead, she and her other coworkers were busy in the front, taking selfies. Yeah. Wasnt too happy with that. I don't care what you're doing, as long as you're doing your job first. Terrible service here. We were seated quickly, given menus and water and the service then disappered. We had to flag someone down after waiting and seeing people seated after us giving orders. Food was also slow to appear and presentation was slaphazard. Manager appeared after our food was delivered and apologized, but that's just a little too flip. I wish a different proprietor would take over this place! Some of the servers are okay, but the manager that was there tonight was not keen. I called at 4:30 to make a reservation, but was informed they don't take them. I said okay, when can I come to put our name on the list if we want to have a group of 10-15 people outside at 5:30. He said a half hour before. So I arrived at 5 and said we are just hanging out on the beach and want to have two tables. He said they might close the kitchen at 5:30 or 6 if they don't have enough people there. Okay, so first of all, I had called previously and made plans with friends to bring their kids to the beach to play and have an early dinner... he didn't inform me of this when I called. I didn't feel comfortable having friends meet their with kids in tow if he was going to close the kitchen. Meanwhile a couple came to ask if they could sit at the stools out back by the sand, but he said that was only for people who wanted to have a drink and wait for a table.... okay, you just got done saying you weren't busy. How unaccommodating can this guy be. Overall people aren't friendly there (except one waitress who was super nice when I left saying she didn't mind staying to help guests even if it wasn't busy). I rarely come here because it's a disappointment each time. We don't have many beachfront options in our Santa Barbara beach town, so I keep trying to give it a chance. The food is average to poor and the general vibe is not that friendly. Such a bummer because it would be so great to have a semi casual, beachside eatery with tasty food that you can meet friends and family at, come to after playing in the water and sand or take a walk on the beach after a good meal... At the end of a very long day of working/exploring the area, my husband adn I sat downside at the Shoreline Beach Cafe. We did notice that it was dog friendly at the tables on teh beach, but Etta (our dog) was exhausted and it was a bit chilly so she was in our nearby car, as we enjoyed a few minutes alone. I had the salmon which was DELICIOUS. Their fries are the tiny crispy ones which I really enjoy. If you get any sort of fries, ask for their Chipotle dipping sauce. I love to visit the Shoreline when I am in Santa Barbara. It is hard to beat sitting at a table, directly on the beach, with your friends and family, and toes in the sand!!! Make sure you grab a nice day, which it not hard to do since it is Santa Barbara, and relax a bit! They have great happy hour and appetizers! There is also a take out window, and a special drink window so you can grab food and drinks and sit in the park right next to the place, or out on the beach!! Really hard to beat! Great spot for families- kids can play in the sand while parents enjoy a drink and some food! Staff were extremely friendly and attentive even though it was busy. However, it seems as though they have finally found their stride amongst other beach front restaurants in Santa Barbara. What sets shoreline apart from other restaurants in the area is their service. After not going to shoreline for a while I returned with my girlfriend to try it out after hearing of their recent improvements. We had Andrew as our server and he completely changed my mind about the place. I wish I could have him be our server everytime we go. I have been to the Shoreline Beach Cafe only once, and that is all it takes for me not to ever come back, ever! I have walked by thousands of times, and I guess my unconscious told be to keep on walking. It doesn't even look inviting to begin with, but I was desperate and needed to eat something since I had a short among of time. I can really say it was bad service, but there were only 3 people in the whole restaurant (around 5PM). The view, is nice, but I don't know why you would like the view of trash getting out of the storm drain. (it might get better during summer). The ocean, you can have the view from almost anywhere in Santa Barbara, so I don't get why you would take a sit here and eat crap while the restaurant overcharges you for McDonalds quality food. Okay, maybe is a bit better than McDonalds (I don't know I haven't had it for 2 decades), but definitely not better than In 'N Out (I haven't had it in years; I just wanna make a reference). All I know is that I ordered the shrimp and chips. The words I am about to type can't describe how horrible the fries were or how oily was the shrimp. While I was chewing this horrible concoction, I was telling my self, you would paid for this later! Huger is a bitch! I almost wanted to laugh when the waiter ask me if I wanted my left over fries to go. NO! Thank you. And indeed I paid for it later, next day, I ended up at the emergency room because my gallbladder couldn't handle such a punishment. I do have to mention that I don't usually eat fried foods, and I have been under some stress. But I am sure that having that meal contributed on me ending up in the ER.
