**Buyer Beware** I took 3 of my dogs to Shores for grooming. They called to tell me that they were due for vaccines and asked me if I would like to be put on the schedule. I said sure and was told that a nurse would be calling me back with questions and to get me on the schedule. The next phone call that I received was not from the nurse to put me on the schedule, it was the VET telling me the results of my dogs exams. I was completely caught off guard and after disconnecting with the doctor, immediately called back and asked why my dogs were being examined without my request or consent. They were there to be GROOMED, not a vet appointment. I was then sent an invoice for EACH one of my dogs in varying amounts over $300. One of them close to $400. I'm attaching a screenshot of one of them. Now, they did not vaccinate my dogs because I told them not to touch them by this point, but mind you they were going to try and charge me for 3 exams that I DID NOT REQUEST which would have been an additional $150 on top of the groom for $220. They tried to charge me an additional $1,052.25 for VACCINES for 3 dogs two of which are 7 and 8 pounds. Very unethical way of doing business. Stay far away, friends. read more

AMAZING!!! I told the tech the nightmare we had just been through using vet clinic shot clinic at petco that cost us 600 dollars for 2 dogs and they were STILL not vaccinated. The dr came in, got on the floor to better comfort my pups. Every single person at shores animal hospital--listened, where kind and understanding of our needs. 30 mins later, both my pups were taken care of with exactly what they needed. From reception to vet tech to doctor....made us feel like they heard us and actually cared about our pups! (And it DID NOT cost any where near $600.00). Horrendous experience! Buyer beware! I used this vet for my golden doodle. They are expensive and I was offered "program" to reduce costs. I signed up and made monthly payments with an upfront cost as well. Was never told it can not be canceled. My dog passed away in April and I was told it could be transferred. I did get two new dogs and took them to this practice. I booked grooming services and ON MY WAY to the appointment they called to cancel because they said my bill was in collection and could no longer service me unless it was an emergency (note when I had an emergency with the other dog they couldn't see me). Had my frenchie groomed. She hates the dryer which I found out when using a self bathing option at a local pet store. she is a very friendly dog and loves every one but I had read horror stories about dogs dying while noosed up for nail clips. I expressed this concern to the groomer and she had an option other than the dryer. My dog was silky and clean and most importantly intact. all the staff was friendly and helpful. I am new to the area and chose a vet that had good reviews but was in a very bad location. I think after the positive experience I will switch to this one. read more

I have been taking my pets to Shores Animal Hospital for years. I have 2 golden retrievers and a cat. They have all been groomed here and all have been seeing the veterinarians here for checkups, vaccinations, and medical care for many years. Shores Animal Hospital has a fantastic staff! I have never been charged for anything I did not know about. Before they treat my animals, they give me an itemized list of what needs to be done and how much each item costs. They have me sign off on procedures before they can be completed. The grooming department is excellent! They have groomed my goldens and even groomed my cat who is not easy to get along with. A few weeks ago my 16 year old Chihuahua (who has been going to Shores Animal Hospital for years, as well) was at the end of her life, not breathing well, and was in need of help to cross the rainbow bridge. The Dr. and staff were excellent with her. The Dr. made it an easy transition for her, so she would not have to suffer anymore. She looked very peaceful. I was scared, as I have never had to deal with helping an animal cross over to the rainbow bridge. The Dr. and staff understood my pain and were very comforting. while traveling in St. Augustine, our cat devel a bladder infection, (it was also New Years weekend) I cold called them hoping they could get us in that day. They got us in that afternoon, were so kind and helpful with my cat. And my cat can be very difficult to handle at times. They were very professional , patient and gentle with her. They diagnosed and treated her, and recommend a diet that she needed going forward. I would absolutely recommend this clinic for all animal needs. read more
