Service: absolutely southern hospitality type service . Super friendly and goign above and beyond to make it special for you. Food: fried catfish was prolly the best I've ever had and the bbq was Smokey and tasteful. Banana pudding wasn't crazy sweet and delivered great balance. Parking easy and plentiful

Date: Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 Party of: 2 Meal: Dinner Takeaway Time Ordered: around 4:15pm Time Pickup Up: around 4:45pm How Ordered: thru Clover via their website *Three Meat Combo BBQ Dinner and Two Sides ($28.99): Brisket, Tri-Tip, Chicken, Sauce On Side, Bbq Spaghetti, Potato Salad *BBQ Rib Dinner and Two Sides ($17.99): Sauce On Side, Green Bean, Coleslaw *Pulled Pork Sandwich ($9.50): Sauce On Side *2 PC Catfish and One Side ($8.99): Hot Sauce, Tartar Sauce, Fries *2 pc Tilapia and One Side ($8.99): Hot Sauce, Tartar Sauce, BBQ Baked Beans On the way home, we found ourselves driving thru Tracy. I like exploring new places, so I suggested to the hubby we try out this BBQ spot. Ordering online was easy. Our food was ready for pickup in about 30 mins. The resto is attached to a bowling alley, so plenty of parking in their lot. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we ended up with the items above. The ribs were my fav. Tender with a nice chew. The chicken had a great smokiness. The brisket was a little disappointing as it was really dry. It definitely needed more fat. Glad we also got the tritip as I'm more a beef kinda girl. The fish was good. Nicely fried. I enjoyed the catfish over the tilapia since the pieces were meatier. The hubs seemed to enjoy the pulled pork sando when he added coleslaw. It was kinda plain otherwise. We both really liked the potato salad. Very flavorful. Would skip the green beans as they didn't taste like much. And the spaghetti was just a pile of mush. Their bbq sauce is on the sweeter side for me, so we mixed it with hot sauce when using. Overall, solid spot for barbecue takeout. They have some tasty dishes. REVIEW #3590

Very disappointed. I read such great reviews and was excited to try Shorters but it definitely was not a great experience. First the good: the price and the quantity. You get a good amount of food for less than $20. We all know food prices have skyrocketed but this isn't a bad deal for the amount. The bad: the tri tip was offered with sauce on top or sauce on the side and I should've said on the side. As someone who loves bbq sauce I was not expecting this sauce to be so bad. It ruined the food for me. It was so overwhelming with some kind of spice in the realm of nutmeg, clove or some other spice that is typically in a spice cake. I tried to scrape off as much as I could but the meat was swimming in the sauce. The red beans and rice were literally that. White rice with a scoop of beans on top. Not the typical Louisiana red beans and rice I'm used to that are more akin to a soupy consistency. The bbq spaghetti was also a no go for me as it was that punch in the face of spice from the bbq sauce. I could barely eat half of my plate and not because I was full. Sorry to say but Shorters definitely fell short of the bbq mark for me.

This barbeque could prevent family arguments about what the next meal should be. Maybe it's the sauce! The brisket we got was cooked perfectly, not dry but smoked to perfect texture. The ribes had good texture as well, but I did wonder if they could have been cut short a little bit. Parts were left tough and chewy. Not a big deal, still much better than lots of places. The sides were delicious, the portions did leave me wanting more though. The spot is in the bowling alley, might not be the best family dinning experience, but it's perfect for pick up. Lastly, let's remember that good barbecue is part science and part magic. The magic part is a mixture of love and patience.

Calling out bbq lovers! Try out Shorter's if you want some delicious bbq! We bought the 3 meat (tri tip, ribs and brisket) plate! It came with the sauce in the side (requested). This is a great spot and it's right next to the Tracy Bowling Alley. The barbecue was yummy and tender. I didn't have a hard time chewing the bbq and it comes with your choice of 2 small sides. I chose the green beans and mac n cheese! I liked how both sides were full of flavor. The green beans were not too soggy and the mac and cheese didn't taste like the microwavable ones either! So good! I would say our plate can feed 2 people, but we still had leftovers! They also have other options of meat and different plates! Stop by when you get the chance :) Also we ordered pick up / online through their website!

Dave and crew are amazing. The tri-tip sandwich is phenomenal and the spicy spaghetti is amazing. The food today was great, the people there are amazing, and you can bowl after. Keep it up!

FURIOUS!!!!! I've always had good service and delicious food, but today was different. I just left and this is how my food was presented to me.... The paper bag was so saturated in grease from the Garlic fries, that it melted a hole in the bottom of the bag forcing me to lose my utensils and condiments!!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!

    Tri tip sandwich

Food is amazing service is even better definitely a must try if you haven't one of the best barbecue spots in the valley

    Tri Tip, Bbq Spaghetti, Greens

I had really high hopes for this place due to the reviews and pictures. I've had Shorter's on my radar for a little while and I finally got around to trying them. What initially stood out to me and caught my eye about this place was that they serve some items that aren't typical of a barbecue spot in California such as barbecue spaghetti and rib tips. I ordered the tri-tip plate with barbecue spaghetti and greens and we also ordered the 6-piece fried catfish with garlic fries. Let's start with the catfish first, the pieces were pretty big and were fried to perfection. The fish was seasoned very well and had good flavor, however the garlic fries were a letdown as they were quite soggy and seemed undercooked. The tri-tip was ok, it had good flavor but didn't really have that smoked for hours taste and it was loaded with a lot of barbecue sauce which I would have preferred on the side. The tri-tip was tender and pretty juicy but I wish it had more flavor, they do give you a hefty portion which is much appreciated. The greens were ok, they could have been seasoned more and would have been better if they had some meat in it. The barbecue spaghetti was very good and flavorful but very spicy and the thing that disappointed me with this is that it was very mushy. The spaghetti would have been top notch if it wasn't mushy and not as spicy. The spice was very overpowering. Maybe I came on an off day but I do want to give them another try as the meal wasn't a complete miss.

I pride myself on being an equal opportunity French fry lover, but Juniors' fries are those supremely seasoned shoestring fries that have the thin, just barely battered, shatteringly crisp crust that gives them that addictive quality. Whether they're the regular fries or Cajun seasoned, they're outstanding. The 939 Club -- which can be two-bread or three-bread style, aka "classic" -- has the type of bread that somehow manages to be toasty, but not rip up the roof of my mouth. It was piled high with meat and fresh tomatoes and lettuce, so it definitely hit the spot. The Big O's chicken sandwich is basically the chicken pesto sandwich of my dreams. The sourdough roll it was served on had that sweet ratio of meat where the sandwich didn't fall apart as I ate it. The pesto was smooth, so I didn't feel like I needed to toothpick my teeth (or chew a bunch of mints from garlic breath.) It was a really well balanced sandwich. I'll definitely return. I can't wait to go back and try the burgers.

Everything looks the same and the same friendly atmosphere resides. Service is always awesome, and so is the food. This time we both chose the fish and chips lunch which includes 3 good sized pieces of batter dipped fish, and perfectly crispy fries. It was all great. Prior visit - This is a great little place to be for a meal. Totally unassuming from the street and even when you walk up, as it is in a small strip business center off of 11th Street. When I walked in for lunch, I was immediately greeted by a guy behind the bar (which is right at the door) with a smile. I proceeded upstairs to the clean and comfortable 'loft' and grabbed a table along the window so I could see out. The interior is clean and simple, open first floor to second floor ceiling. Great music playing, and just a nice vibe all the way around. Andrea, came by with a smile and greeting, asked if I had any questions, and headed off with my order. I didn't get the bartender's name, but he was just as attentive and super nice, as he came upstairs to my table and described some of the beers he currently has available. Small batch craft beers are good. . . Food: The menu is not so 'typical' as you get to select your protein, the sauce or spice for that protein, then your carb, and your veggie (or make it a salad). Nice choices too. My chicken with Korean BBQ sauce, beer batter fries and grilled Brussels sprouts was good, especially the sprouts. My chicken was on the dry side, but I have a feeling it may have been due to the fact they were managing a party of 15 as well as all the other patrons while I was there. A bit hectic for two people to keep up that pace. I definitely recommend coming to the Upper Room.

This spot is located on Naglee Road right next to the other restaurants, Mall, & Target. It's pretty close to the freeway as well. This night for whatever reason it was way more calm/tame, not as many people. The food at Applebee's is underrated in my opinion. However on this night they forgot to pack our salad, and the bags are packed up so tight you can't pretty much open them on the spot and see if anythings missing without having to basically repack it with new bags. Order was also a tad late, I came about 10 minutes after quoted time and my order was yet to be packed up. I will keep coming back to this location though as I feel they give pretty good service, and have a nice staff.

Wanted to stop for food and to watch the Warriors game. Decided to check out the Applebee's since we went to BJ's the week prior. We have a friend that lives in Tracy, so we invited him out. It wasn't too busy, so we decided to grab a table in the bar area. They have a good amount of specials. On Tues, it's $2 off glasses of wine, $2 off woodford old fashion, $3 bud light 16 oz, $3 michelob ultra 16 oz. Food wise it was steak night, so their top sirloin was $9.99 for a 6oz and $13.99 with 2 classic sides. I also believe after 9pm they do half off apps? Not completely sure, but I recall waiting til around that time to order few apps. Our friend wanted boneless wings when we got there, so those were full price at $15.99. The ones I ordered were only $8. Food was as expected for an Applebee's. I wanted the old fashion special, but apparently they were out. So I just asked if they could make a skinny margarita. I know, completely different, but I just wanted to try the OF since it was a special. Also, if you order a back, they charge you an extra $0.49. I found that very odd. Plus, the hubs wanted an actual soda separately to have with dinner and not a back so there's that. The bar area was pretty mellow. We sat at a table where we could view a few different TVs. One thing to note, this place was freezing. I was sooo cold. Idk why they had the air blasting so much, but I had to wear two jackets to stay okay. Not warm, but okay. I'm a sucker for a HH, so luckily we got to partake in some specials. REVIEW #3910
