I stop by here for lunch i order online and went in to pick up i order a brisket sandwich with fries. As a fellow bbqer I thought I'll give this place a try. When I open up the bag my sandwich came wrap in foil when I opened it up the sandwich was sloppy made with bbq sauce all over the bun which made the bun soggy. I knew i wasn't gonna enjoy it from the moment I open it up. Presentation is important who wants to eat a sloppy brisket sandwich and some soggy fries o was disappointed with my lunch. It would be more efficient and better if you have your sandwich and fries in a styrofoam box with bbq sauce on the side not wrap in foil where the bbq sauce sits mash in the sandwich bread soaking up the bbq sauce making it a a soggy brisket sandwich. I don't know how people are giving this place 5 stars either you have no taste buds or don't know what good bbq is! This place is absolutely nasty from the sides to the under seasoned over cooked meat. The sauce is rancid and tastes like battery acid. The fried catfish has no seasoning and is over cooked till it became catfish chips. The fried shrimp is boxed panko breaded shrimp. Oh yeah when you get sides it's the size of a super small To go ketchup container.Please save your money and avoid this monstrosity at all cost. The food here is good I can't lie. But the owner when making mistakes on food. Doesn't want to refund the order or even make the order over again. We ordered 2 beef link three way platers, they sent us 7 pork ribs on two plates. Which we can't even eat. We called they said they will give us two links or refund the two links. Don't eat their ribs. If you do, you won't be able to enjoy them anywhere else. I've had championship award-winning bbq elsewhere and it just wasn't quite as good as this. So smoky and finger-licking amazing! Their bbq sauce is so good that when we drive to Tracy from Marin, we stock up on bottles. If you order a side of fries, get more. Trust me, you'll want more. Here's another one of those places that I truly wish I could rate higher, but I just can't. Attached to the bowling alley, this place has lots of parking...which might become limited during league play. The staff were absolutely wonderful and some of the nicest people I've met in the area. Walking in, I noticed a few advertising banners on the windows. One was for a chicken sandwich combo. Not being much of a bbq fan (too sweet for me), I chose the chicken sandwich. While ordering, I asked what came on the sandwich. I said fine, but hold the onions....and to-go please. It took quite a bit longer than it should have. But hey, this is a good thing...I thought. Mine is being made fresh. Then they handed me my to-go bag and 3 minutes later, I was opening my foil wrapped sandwich taking a bite. I immediately realized something was way off. This sandwich is not suppose to have BBQ sauce, but it did. It also had onions. OK, I picked off the onions but there was little I could do about the BBQ sauce. I ate the sandwich but didn't like it at all (didn't have time to run to lunch a second time). Again, just too sweet for me. The combo also included fries, a soda, and coleslaw. In my opinion, fries to-go always lose their crispness within a few minutes...so eat'em right away if you want them crispy. The coleslaw lacked flavor but was edible. They sell Coke products for those interested in knowing. When I was being rang up, the total was high. The worker/cook was charging me the menu price instead of the price on the banner. Sometimes that meat don't be the best looking I said what I said for you to take it to your restaurant and barbecue and throw some motherfucking sauce on it is uncivilized but AnyWho, so I go to get some barbecue I get there they're close so you know the owner name I think short black guy tells me they closed but at the same time he asked me what I want and I told him if you're closed I'm good. I'll come back,I just got some barbecue ribs and mac & cheese so I was like OK I'll take that you know I'll pay for it. this man proceeds to give me what he had. I lived down the street at the time. Literally a five minute walk. I get home open up my food. My friend recommended this place, which has been around for 20 years. We ordered 3-meat combo with 2 side, decided to try the ribs, brisket and Tri-tip with coleslaw and collard greens. The ribs were definitely my favorite, the brisket second and the trip-tip not so much because it was shredded instead of whole. We also got some rib tips and a banana pudding to complete a classic BBQ meal. The rib tips were just super large pieces of rib ends, a bit tough and nothing special. I would get the ribs instead. I had such a great experience at the BBQ spot! Their brisket is cooked with so much care and it's incredibly flavorful and moist. While I wasn't a big fan of some of the sides, like the sweet potato salad and baked beans, their meats definitely made up for it. I can't wait to try their other sides next time. The garlic fries were amazing, and their BBQ sauce is delicious. I'd give their meats a 5-star rating any day. Unfortunately, I had to go to another BBQ spot in Lathrop because Shorter's was out of their red meats, and I regretted it because the brisket was so dry. Next time, I'll definitely save my money and wait for Shorty's to restock. I highly recommend this place, and I'm looking forward to trying their green beans and Mac & Cheese next time. Zero out of 5 stars, if I could give negative stars I would Finally I came in during lunch this week. As it was my time to place an order, I asked the black male working behind the counter a question regarding the menu. He seemed like the owner/manager as he wasn't working the register. The purpose of my question was to gain a better understanding in detail about the actual portion sizes of sides and amount of pieces for the meats I was considering. Respectfully I say "Excuse me sir" and proceed to ask my question. I was taken back by the body language and response I received. He pauses and looks at me confused/annoyed like. Basically saying what a stupid question without saying it, only using eyes, facial expression and body language. Then proceeds to speak to me a condescending manner, in front of other dining customers, stating the obvious that "well obviously dinner portions are bigger than lunch portions and if you spend more you get more food." ...I'm in my 30s and I'm an avid restaurant diner btw, just for context I never break eye contact with him the entire interaction as I'm processing what makes him think this is an appropriate way to treat people. I'm not embarrassed nor am I willing to react to his poor response choice. I also think that was the intention of his entire response. To confirm his rude remark, he try's to become playful with me suddenly and say he was "just joking." No longer interested, I politely say thank you and set the menu down on the counter and turn to leave, because why would I ever purchase food from a person who speaks to customers rudely. He then says "That's it?" as if he was expecting me to now purchase food or tip him for explaining in detail the menu. I kindly say, "Yeah, that's it. Thanks." And walk out, with CLASS. I think we can agree, customers seek out great experiences, great customer service and great food. This allows us to build confidence and trust with businesses. To think people are running a restaurant and don't make a commitment to top tier customer service is more revealing of poor leadership and failed ownership. I can't trust what you're doing in the kitchen if you don't have the decency to be respectful as a common courtesy. Your business is losing customers before you can even gain them. read more

The ketchup dispensers were filthy, the tri tip, brisket and fish were good. Yams are excellent. Peach cobbler and banana pudding was ok. I was craving good barbeque around Tracy and wanted to eat somewhere with a casual environment. I came here because of the good reviews, but was initially hesitant because of the price. I ended up getting the 2 way combo for $23.49 (tax included) and got brisket and pulled pork. The brisket had a nice smoky flavor despite it being slathered in sauce. The pulled pork was pretty good as well however, the brisket was definitely the star of the show. The sides on the other hand are a bit of a miss. I only managed to eat half of my order before taking it home. There's food a plenty. I'll be coming back for their bbq! read more

Welcome to Shorters BBQ! Where the Food is on point and the staff is stellar! I have been frequenting this place for a few years now and I can honestly say this place does not disappoint. This is a legit BBQ place with a down to earth home cooked flavor. From hot links to ribs to brisket pulled pork and more! Endless sides to choose from like collards, macNcheese, green beans, baked beans, yams... like the list goes on forever! Sometimes they run out of some stuff but that to me is a good sign they are doing something right. Just means they are moving through inventory faster than the speed of light which means fresher quality products are being used. Aside from the food, the service is top notch. I see the owner there often and someone always greets and says good bye in a way that makes ya feel at home! Even the other custys in there are looking out for others as this place creates that environment to be simple, relaxed, friendly, and brings people together with the food smells and staff genuinely being there for you. I was in yesterday and owner was out of town, register dude was super cool and was moving like lightning to get all the phone orders in and handle the line forming. The chef in back was in his groove and kept the staff in line when he saw something needing to be taken care of, the lady in back came out to support the register and wipe down some tables and had the most friendly smile ever. We were on our way back from the bay area with empty bellies and wanted a good BBQ place. So of course I consulted Yelp (surprising, I know) and found this gem. I was a little apprehensive about it being that is in the bowling alley but was too starving to care. We were given a very friendly greeting. The employees/owners were very nice and welcoming. We even spoke with Dave for quite some time, he challenged my hubby to try a super spicy sauce they had. Needless to say it was a little more than he prefers but he was a good sport. But the owner did warn him to only take a little and he decided to drunk a piece of meet in it, so he brought it upon himself. My husband and I both ordered 2 meat dinner place. I got the ribs and the brisket with greens and mac&cheese. My hubby got the trip tip and links. With coleslaw and mac&cheese. We shared the meets and I have to say everything was super delicious. The links were a little spicy for me but good. Tri tip was so flavorful and tender. Ribs are excellent! And the brisket was very delicious however I prefer slices and this was cut up into bits and seemed to have lost a lot of the bark that I love so much. The greens were good but I think needed something, other places I've been do they put pork or bacon for extra flavor which I prefer. Mac and cheese was good. I did not try his coleslaw. Overall the food was good but a little pricey. The employees/owners were very welcoming and fun to chat with. I definitely plan on coming back when I am in the area. read more
