AWARENESS: Speer BBQ has been a staple each Saturday, at the City of Tracy's Farmers Market. A little over a year ago, they moved their weekly operations to a new location at the 19th hole, at the Tracy Golf Course. NARRATIVE: I was invited to Speer BBQ for lunch a few weeks ago by a friend. After arriving, I was surprised to see how nice the set up was at Speer's BBQ new location. Big floor to ceiling windows overlook the golf courses putting and front nine holes. Beyond the views of the golf course, the rolling Sierra Mountains can also be seen in the background distance. The seating area at Speer's is abundant. Lots of four person tables and even a bar seating area with elevated, single seats. Not mentioned on their menu, I ordered a Tri Tip, grilled cheese sandwich which came with a side. I opted for their backed beans. My sandwich was really tasty. Lots of meat and cheese melted around it and just the right amount of BBQ sauce to know you were eating a BBQ sandwich. SCENE: Speer BBQ is located in the rural, Southend of Tracy at the Tracy Gold Course. If you drive South on Chrisman Road, just follow it until you dead end, beyond the 33 and Highway 580 freeways. As a BBQ chef myself, I rarely order bbq. A friend recommended this place at Tracy Golf Course. Menu is actually pretty diverse for a BBQ place. I went with the 3 meat (pulled pork, chicken, and sausage) with a side of chili and potato salads. The sides were quite good. Balanced and full of flavor, which is rare for a BBQ place in Cali. The chicken was ok, but at least it was not dry. The sausage was a bit dry, but good flavor profile. Th pulled pork was good. Moist and good smoke. They should for sure sell their base BBQ sauce. The staff was friendly and did a good job. The ambience is cool for a bbq place and over looks the golf course. Overall this is a worthy and cool spot to get some bbq. I recommend, which is rare for me when it comes to BBQ. read more

I've had Speer Bbq at the market over the years, this was my first time being to their brick & mortar location at the Country club. Arriving at 11am, this was the perfect brunch spot for us! It was quiet, and very child friendly. The dining area was clean, well decorated for the holidays and has a nice view of the golf course. I appreciated that they had standard high chairs for the little one, easy to clean and kept her contained so I could eat my food. The owners and staff were friendly, and provided a positive experience. I ordered the chipotle burrito bowl, which is a breakfast burrito bowl. All of the ingredients were fresh, and delicious. It was the perfect portion amount for lunch. I'd reccomend heading here for your next family outing, or even a business meeting. read more

Great event with great food! We came for the Mother's Day celebration and boy was it busy. However they warned us in advance that food would take +45 minute so we were prepared to wait and have some drinks while we waited. They had the cutest decorative table set up for Mother's Day including fresh fruit, adorable cups and even free popcorn. All The food came out fresh and very good. They do need to figure out the outdoor umbrellas ... the wing kicked in and fell on a group of ladies (luckily no one was hurt) . read more

Wow went to Speers this Sunday after church. All we can say is amazing. I had the avocado toast, wow best I've had. My wife got the pulled pork burrito. We also tried Mikes Mushroom bisque, oh man it was off the hook. Tracy people you don't know what you are missing, great ambience ( right on the golf course). We were early like 10 am it started to fill up; would expect more with the quality of food. Mike Katie are such great hosts. read more

Ok, this update is loooong overdue! Speer BBQ has been consistently awesome I'm not only their food, but customer service! Not only are they still at the weekly Tracy framers market, they also have now opened a location at the Tracy golf course. They continue to expand their menu while keeping some of the staples that everyone loves! We love going to the golf course location since there is wonderful indoor and outdoor seating (with shade, heat lamps, games, etc) with great views as well as some menu items you can't get at the farmers market. All of the sauces are housed made and taste amazingly delicious with all of their items they serve. We will continue to support this local family owned business with ono grindz and great service... and now at an awesome location we can stop by during the week or for brunch also! read more

Burgers were excellent and cooked just like we asked. Fries were hot and crispy. They had outdoor seating and live music which was fun and we got to play cornhole while we waited for our food. Just a fun atmosphere. read more

We got a chance to try speer over the weekend at the farmers market. Had the 3 item combo with tri tip, linguisa, and chicken. It also came with chili, potato salad and Hawaiian bread. The tri tip was good. Had nice smoke rings and flavor was good. Same with the chicken. Nice char and not too dry. Linguisa on the other had was dry and seemed overcooked. Their bbq sauce was not bad either. Chili and potatoes salad were exceptional. I heard they will be opening an actual location soon so we will be coming back here soon. read more

This family joint is just amazing. The food is delicious and the service is great. It's so refreshing to see a family owned business work hard and enjoy what they do. The location of the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path but worth the drive. I also wish they were open a bit later but maybe they're only open when the golf course is open (?). Can't wait for their brick and mortar location to open at the Tracy Golf and Country Club! Was visiting back home with my kids and me and mom picked up a few things from the farmer's market for lunch. Everything was EXCELLENT! We got the loaded tri-tip sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, chicken sandwich, and the Crunchwrap with pork. Portions were HUGE! Between 4 adults and 2 kids we still had leftovers for the next day. My favorite was the loaded tritip -- the horseradish sauce was the perfect addition to the tender tri tip and nice soft (but NOT SOGGY bread!) Pulled pork was KILLER with the slightly sweet slaw. My 6 year old's favorite was the Crunchwrap. He ate almost HALF by himself. Cant wait to go back and sit down at the club while enjoying the beautiful view of the country club. They need to open a location! This family owned bbq gig is amazingly delicious! I first tried their bbq at the Tracy Downtown Farmers Market & I got hooked. Everything they have tastes great. Got a pork belly sticky rice bowl. The portion size was GENEROUS and well worth the value - fed both my husband and I for dinner with some rice leftover. The pork was tender and delicious - love the small cubes because there were little crispy burnt bits all over with amazing flavor. The glaze was tasty and not storebought - there was depth to flavor. A mixed bag of meats. I secured the catering services of Speer Family BBQ in Tracy (they normally do business at the Farmer's Market at 10th Street and Central Avenue on Saturday mornings. Their meats tasted pretty good so I ordered a tray of Tri-tip, and a tray of Pulled Pork. The Pulled Pork was fantastic and was quickly devoured by our guests. The Tri-tip was kind of tough and chewy, not soft and succulent like the samples tried days before. It clearly was not the crowd favorite, coming in third behind the Pulled Pork and Rotisserie Chicken. Would I use them again? Yes, but I would not order the Tri-tip again. It was their most expensive entree and clearly not their best. I would certainly order the Pulled Pork and their BBQ Ribs which were also very good (I should have ordered them). They do deliver for free if a local Tracy address, and they are nice folks. read more

These guys did the best job at my daughters wedding. The food was awesome. The coolest thing was how they conducted business, they went beyond their service agreement and did an awesome job helping out. During this Scamdemic they said if there were any problems where things got canceled they would give full refund. The first people (I'd give their name, but as chicken shit as they are, they would try to cause trouble) took our money and backed out because they could.
