Mr. Bryan McVay owner and restaurateur has done it again! Created a slice of Americana on the historic downtown McKinney Square. Hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, and cocktails served inside an old building renovated to perfection. The atmosphere is inviting with kitchen up front and visible. The long bar and seating is reminiscent of days gone by. Outside dining underneath umbrellas on the spacious walkway directly across from the courthouse is great for people watching. Every plate of food was eye catching and mouth watering. I'm a huge hot dog fan and ordered the original coney with fries and a drink. It was everything I had hoped for. Bun , dog, and chili was delicious. The chili was smooth and seasoned right. The onions on top made it memorable. This restaurant has its own vibe and stands alone in the ever growing hot dog sector. The staff was attentive and caring. I'll be back for more and to try everything on this menu. I predict this one location will expand soon. I highly recommend this restaurant. See you there soon !

I am giving Shorty's the benefit of the doubt because this was their opening week and they were clearly still ironing out the wrinkles, but they had some really really great food and I know they will figure it We stopped in here on a whim while walking around downtown and needed a quick bite. There is limited seating inside, mostly 2 person tables or bar seating, but the vibes are perfect -- wow! We loved the decorations and view of the grill. While waiting for a table there are plenty of shops to check out around the downtown square. Unfortunately, once we were seated we waited a significant amount of time before anyone stopped by our table & also waited a while for our food. The staff was apologetic and explained that they are still learning the ropes and getting staff online - I don't expect this to be a universal experience. Prices are very reasonable, but they do align with the portion sizes. The menu is small, but has unique flavors for hot dogs, burgers, and fries a long with the classics. We opted for burger, fries, and a hot dog and were blown away! With the first bite of the burger, it flew to the top of my "best burger" list! The gravy on the poutine had a robust flavor profile and was perfectly salty, I would love if there was a bit more cheese. The cony style chili paired perfectly with the crispy french fries! We did not get a drink during this visit, but I would love to come back for one because their cocktail menu was well crafted and pours around the restaurant looked amazing.

Nice addition to the square! I've dined in once and it was really good, but my take out order not so much. For that reason, I recommend eating in!! The interior is really cool and I like all the added decor, like the TV's near the back of the restaurant and the sign that shows what song is currently playing. It's a really retro kind of vibe. I like that Shorty's is open late and you can come here to get a quick bite. We got a standard hotdog and tasty smash burger, along with the truffle fries the first go around and everything tasted good. Food price is super reasonable as well!

Excellent service and food. The place was very clean and it was relatively easy to get a spot at the bar around 12:45PM for 1 person. Food isn't sloppy, just very good. Excellent dogs and truffle fries.

I really wish I would've taken a picture before I devoured this delicious burger... but, alas, it was too tasty for me to waste a single second snapping a photo! Shorty's is such a gem. Delicious fresh food, kind and informative employees and the best owner! The vibes are incredible too - design is gorgeous. Highly recommend the burger - it's smash style - and with the fries? Perfection. An incredible addition to the McKinney square!

Chicken Bacon ranch sandwich was great

Food was ok. We ordered two hot dogs, one plain and one with chilli and a chicken bacon spicy ranch sandwich. Sandwich I recommend. Bacon was crispy and chicken was well cooked wasn't dry at all. I opted for it because it was the only thing with greens on it. The ambiance was great and loved the vibe. The venue looked beautiful, restored the charm and intrinsic feel of historic McKinney. Did wish for more green items like a salad. Maybe they'll add it later. Overall, a good spot for greasy food and drinks. A great addition to the square. Also, service was great they were very nice and attentive.

Good food on McKinney Square. Not a lot of seating. We sat outside, there was an festival downtown and we could hear a band playing.

I am not usually a dark beer guy but the server talked me into their schwarzbier and I ended up ordering a second one. If you are into porters and stouts they have you covered, and if you lean lighter there is plenty on the board too. The food held its own right alongside the beer. I went with the burger and it hit exactly the way a good pub burger should, juicy with a solid char and fries that actually get finished. My wife ordered the pappardelle on a recommendation from the table next to us and she was not sharing much of it, which tells you everything. We started with the chips and queso and cleared the bowl before the entrees even landed. Great vibe inside, big patio, and the service kept our drinks full the whole time. This one is an easy recommend.

I'm not a fan of constant interruptions while eating, so that balance was appreciated. The place itself is awesome. Plenty of TVs, a great layout, outdoor patio, and a great bar area. Perfect hangout spot whether you're with family, friends, or just grabbing lunch solo. Prices are reasonable and competitive with similar spots. The downtown McKinney location is ideal and easy walking distance to other shops and restaurants, so no need to keep driving around. Food was great. The burger was juicy and flavorful even well done. The salmon was also well done with crispy edges and a slab of butter that melted right over it great flavor. Hoping that butter option is available for the steak because that's next on my list. Sides were solid too. Only thing I wasn't big on was the fries. They're super thin, so they were crispy but had a slightly hard, borderline stale texture. Just my opinion though. overall still a great experience. Definitely coming back. Burger and salmon were outstanding, customer service was great, and the atmosphere makes it a spot worth checking out with family or friends.

We love downtown McKinney and so many establishments have that southern charm, friendly service, and just love people. We always bring in a group of paying patrons. Early on we felt there was a clickish vibe, but never thought anything about it. We make friends everywhere, since we are travelers . Last few months we noticed a shift, bartender ruder, lack of service, the regulars shifting their gaze as if something was wrong. Last night ended that for us, and I'm sure they will be thrilled. Our bonus son chose to come here for his celebratory event. We invited a variety of people we knew, local talents, professionals, and family. Hateful comments about having a few balloons and party hats and how "you BETTER clean all that UP, I'm not doing it." We were treated with disdain. No service, each person had to get our own menu when we were ready to order, , and silverware after food was served, no one took our drink orders, when we went to the bar-our tabs were closed after each drink order. The bartender, Chevon, (who is always there) was rude and ugly to our whole group and to those she didn't even know was in our group. The new DJ, (Shawn) skipped over our friend twice. Chevron (bartender) who didn't know the person she was speaking to was my sister, said "I hate that guy, all he sings is rock songs." I mean... it karaoke. And that guy she's talking about has been bringing a group of people here for over a year. So carry on the "high school drama" there are a ton of places in McKinney that are lovely and welcoming. When you are hateful to singers, doctors, nurses, business owners, and veterans... that news will travel fast. And as rude and ugly as this review is, it's not near as rude or ugly as we were treated, individually and as a group. If you are gonna be bias to people, you don't need to be serving them. It's sad, because I know Karen and what Spoons means to her and her family. I hope they clean house and start over in the back. FYI (Shawn was a really nice DJ, he was so kind to people celebrating others.) But other than that, I wouldn't recommend The Garage for any new Collin County resident, any bridal party, bachelor party, or group celebrating anything... you can DM me and I'll give you a personal list of plenty of places to go. Many of them walking distance.

We told our server that between me and my wife, we will be sharing the chicken sandwich and hence requested that it be sliced into 2. Not only were the burgers sliced, it was served in separate plates with sides as well - that was a really nice touch. Cali was a bit bland, Buffalo and Burg B Q were both really nice. The drink was nice as well. There was live music but we were seated near a table that was pretty boisterous, could hardly hear anything. The outdoor seating overlooking greenery and events they do at the restaurant make the place quite different - we will definitely be back soon to try other options on the menu.
