I don't usually review restaurants but the works made me understand pizza on a deeper level.

We were passing through town and stopped for a quick bite to eat and let me tell you it was not quick. We place an order for jalapeño poppers and a half and half bacon chicken ranch and white pizza. The poppers came out alright the cheese was kind of solidified like they let them sit in the kitchen for a while. But we didn't pay any mind to it and let it slide. We waited 45 minutes for our pizza I had to ask when we were going to receive it and to put it in a box bc the wait was too long and they said the pizza was already in a box. And still had to wait 10 min to receive it after and it came out on a pizza tray. So I asked them to put it in a box again. And it was cold and dry. I asked them to remake it bc there was no excuse I have worked in family owned and locally owned restaurants in the front and back of house for 5+ years and this was absolutely unacceptable especially for how slow it was. I asked for a refund and for it to be made on the fly because we had a 7 hour drive ahead of us and they remade the pizza this time it was fresh and came out quick but there was no chicken on the bacon chicken ranch. This is absolutely sad. I expect better from small locally owned businesses. read more

My pizza was undercooked, I ate one piece inside shorty's so I boxed it up and cooked it for 6 more minutes at home and it was acceptable.

One star for the immaculate vibes and one for the scrumptious pizza pillows. But that's where the praise ends. Our waiter, with a scowl, hurled our food onto the table, insisting it was ours despite our protests. His fury was palpable as he stomped off, leaving us bewildered and wronged. The stickers on the door, the hanging shirts, the paraphernalia ALL OVER, the music playing loud, this place is Awesome!!! Busy bees are rushing about clearing tables as people eat n leave or just visit n talk a while, the place has a great college hang out vibe or just a leave ur worries at the door feel. Many locals here as well. I Ck out the menu online n am immediately attracted to these little morsels calles Pizza Pillows. "Shorty's House -made dough stuffed w cheese n toppings n baked. Served w ranch or marinara" I chose Spinach n Garlic. N my daughter went with the Sunday special 14" special 1 topping pie. While waiting in line one of the very nice employees redirected us to the little TO GO spot next door (look for the sign as you come in to the main entrance, which I clearly missed lol). The ordering process is easy n quick n we waited about 20 minutes to viola! Now as we were pulling bk into our parking lot at the hotel I thought to look into my box to make sure they gave me marinara as THEY DIDNT ASK WHEN THEY TOOK MY ORDER. DING DING DING!!! NO MARINARA!! (The marinara you see in my pic is from the place Accross the street from my hotel, sorry guys I hadda improvise!) hence the loss of a star!!! But the pizza and pillow were excellent!! Great flavorand the CHEEEEEEESE!!!! I even used some of the ranch with a salad I had In The fridge and it was TOP NOTCH!! We will def be back!! Thanks guys!! read more

I don't see their new Hewitt Drive location listed, but I'm here to highly recommend Shorty's at either location. The pizza pillows are great and inexpensive. The Hewitt Drive location has a ton of space for kids and families. read more

Was here again recently w my wife and met my father for lunch. It is near Baylor College. I had one of four specials they seem to always offer at lunch time. Not sure if the offers are for the weekends or not. I had the two pizza slices and fountain drink for about 5.50 I believe. There are a wide variety of items offered here. Like pizza pockets and chili cheese fries and chili dogs. Another lunch special I like here is a slice of pizza w small side salad w drink. I have tried the pizza pillows and they are delicious as well. I must admit I enjoyed the pizza slices this time quite a bit more w the lunch special. The margarita pizza slice was flavorful and had slices of tomato and the basil had great flavor. The buffalo chicken came with buffalo sauce flavor instead of the standard tomato flavor everyone knows. Honestly I don't know how long these have been offered as it has been a bit of time since I have been here. Last time the 4 types of pizzas offered for the lunch special was a bit more standard. I liked that the margarita slice was on wheat. It is a bit far from the house but I want to go back soon. I really enjoyed the new toppings on the pizza. The parking lot is a bit smallish and there is a place next door that shares the lot. It was fairly busy this time. I really enjoyed myself. The Dr Pepper comes from a bar sprayer and is much better tasting than standard fountain. I am guessing it is cleaned very often. While I haven't tried them there seems to be more appetizers offered as well compared to my last visit like one w fried pickles and shrooms. Had a great time here. read more

I did not expect much. This is a dumpy old bar that serves pizza in a college town. I figured, yeah...it will be good food at least. BOY was I wrong...this was decadent pizza. We had a HUGE pie and we also got some sort of calzone thingys they have there called pillows. Wow, those were great as well. Cold beer, great food, good service, it was good food for sure. Walked in and was instantly greeted with a smile. I'm driving through and my son wanted pizza (8) this was the closest thing to 35. I'm so glad we stopped. I would give it more stars except the service was almost non-existent. The pizza was actually really good. I liked that I could order a personal pitcher of beer (1/2 size of normal plastic beer pitcher). The place is crowded. We squeezed in by the front door at a barstool table. There is a small bar (maybe 3-4 seats) and some tables inside and out. My son and I ordered the meat lovers and it was really good. My wife and other son ordered the pepperoni and half mushrooms. Pizza is pretty great. They load it up with toppings....and from the couple times I've been, everything always taste very fresh! Price is also decent! Why 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5? Crust can get soggy pretty fast, so if you like a thick crust you are out of luck. We ordered a Pepperoni pizza once and it was just oozing with grease on top. And our last visit a couple days ago. One group of people at the tables, six older folks (40s-to-50s). My group (two adults, two kids) and another family, mom/dad and a child who appeared to be 5-6 years old. The big table in the middle of the area couldn't go more than 2-3 sentences without swearing. They were extremely loud and dropping f-bombs and mother-f and GD and sh*t.....literally every 2-3 sentences. They were so loud and cursing so often, that both my table and the other table got up and moved outside. We both chose to eat in the 90 degree weather than have our young children listen to adults say "f*ck" every 15 seconds. If we could hear it from three tables away.....you know the bartender/server lady could hear it as well. These people were LOUD. This is at 3:30 PM in the afternoon. It would have been nice if the bartender/server/waiter/etc would have asked the table to chill out a bit. I'm not sure I've ever been in a restaurant where the staff let a table loudly swear and run off other tables. So - good pizza, lots of toppings, fresh ingredients, for a decent price. Just be careful if you bring young children in and you don't want them learning new words. read more

We were in Waco for work and decided we needed bite. I found this place and based on Yelp reviews we had to visit. We got the works pizza and two soft drinks. I was impressed that they sold pizza by the slice and I laughed that the booze special on Saturdays is a bottle of boone's farm. I watched the food being delivered and everything looked yummy. The have several TVs available. I'm sure to keep up with Baylor sports activities. The pizza was really good and so was the tea. DOMINATION! Great food, great atmosphere. We grabbed dinner here while in Waco and it was legit. The place is really cool with friendly service. It's a classic college joint. I had the pizza pillow with sausage and cheese and we got a large pizza for the table with cheese and pepperoni. Everything was hot and delicious.
