Best Dive Bar In The Area Been here 3 times and holy hell is it like a stroll down memory lane when Hot Topic used to be cool AF and played good music. Plays music from the late 90's to early 2000s of emo, rock, metal. Drinks are reasonable priced, ambience is right on point to a Hot Topic, brick walls, t-shirts on the walls for purchase, and that industrial vibe throughout the place. Customer service has always been PERFECT on all visits fast and friendly. I will say on my last visit I realized they implemented a automatic 20% gratuity to bills which I can say I'm not a huge fan on that just in the event that service is bad. Even though it has never been for me I just think tipping should be optional not just expected. I think the surrounding area/crowd sucks ass just FYI but this bar is still cool AF. P.S. Came here over the weekend and immediately walked in feeling unwelcome. It was my first time going and I was a little lost, I asked some people if I was in the right spot and they proceeded to laugh and make fun of me. It set the mood for the rest of the night and made me not want to try to talk to anyone. Plus, it was pretty much empty when I walked in, some people at the bar and then this group. I usually go to the church on Sundays but decided to come here because I like both goth and emo. After this interaction I will be sticking to the goth club because at least they are more welcoming and nice. Would not recommend to anyone ever. read more

This bar is full atmospheric, reminiscent of my days working at hot topic store one in Montclair California (the first ever hot topic in fact) I love their tee shirt wall. The bartenders were very beautiful and alternative looking Very cool photo ops at every corner, I would recommend this bar for anyone into emo, hardcore, or new metal music scenes especially those going to high school in early 2000 read more

I'm from Hawaii traveling with my friends and I this is my second time but it was my friend's first time. The whole thing was amazing : from the atmosphere, the vibe and the service was amazing! Shout out to Jo and the rest of the crew! You guys made my friends first time a great time! The Dj has a great set: perfect for that emo / punk rocker in you! The drinks cleverly named are actually really good and got that nice sparkle in some of them. They also sell shirts that are displayed at the bar. It is in rotation so you do have to check if they have it in stock. But if you are just visiting, still grab a shirt. They bring out a comedic drunken side to some of your favorite artist / character. There is no parking, you must find street parking or if you are staying in Dallas, just take an uber. Also there's no smoking inside but just walk outside the door and you're good to go! It's a small venue but it's pretty chill and comfortable. Overall this place is great to chill, have fun with friends and listen to great music! Next time my friends or I visit Dallas we are definitely stopping by again! Great service! They were quick to clean up empty glasses and bathrooms were clean. Awesome theme! We went on a Sunday night. Empty at first (around 8pm) but karaoke started around 9pm and that was fun! The shot-tails are sugary. I think it was +$1 to make into drink and the ice/extra soda made them tastier. Tips included on the check but our bartender was so chill and quick to help whenever I needed service. Would be cool if we could request songs to listen to on non karaoke nights. Had a girl throw a drink in my friend's face for no reason (was right next to him) after that, she proceeded to punch him 3 times in the face, the security did nothing. I confronted her about it and guess what? She threw a drink at me too lol. Guess what the security did? Kicked me and my friend out :). I work in the service industry and always tip at least 30% on 40$+ tabs. Will not be coming back here and you shouldn't either. read more

This place absolutely crushes it. One of the more fun bars in Dallas. Millennial EMO music at all times and bands play on stage. Instagramable. Tons of badass shirts on the wall for purchase. A green shot that will f*** you up. Really special place here. read more

Went here Saturday, 8/19/2023. The vibe and music is amazing, the drinks are fine (though a little pricey), but the kinda crappy thing is the confusing automatic gratuity policy and the application of that policy (which is intended to make sure the bartenders get tipped for their drinks) to merchandise purchases. We came in and bought a couple drinks and some t-shirts, and the bartender (@yungwednesday, Haley I think?) did not apply the automatic gratuity to the t-shirt purchase since it was merchandise, not service. I added a tip happily on the drink portion of the tab. Later in the night, we were going to share another drink and purchase one more t-shirt we were pining after from hanging around and seeing it over and over. My friend was concerned she had lost her card or it had been stolen, and asked the Haley to check if it had been turned in. She did, but was unable to find it. I offered to pay, and the bartender added a 20% gratuity to the full amount of the check including the t-shirt, which I pointed out and was told "that took a really long time and the removal of gratuity from t-shirts is just a courtesy. Since you are holding things up on a Saturday night I am leaving the gratuity". The amount of the gratuity was $8 for a high noon and a t-shirt. We disagreed and asked her to cancel the purchase (though she ripped up the receipt, we still had to issue a chargeback from our credit card) and left, we felt totally unwelcome at this point. Really spoiled the night, overall I think the automatic gratuity policy is a mistake and needs to be scrapped. We will have to think hard about whether we want to return as customers. read more

This is my favorite bar in Deep Ellum! It's a themed emo bar, and their music every night is A++. The DJs are always killing it. Inside there is a giant dry erase wall that people write lyrics on, and they have their own parody t-shirts that are really cool as well. Their shot menu is also on theme and they're all named after songs and bands. Love the bartenders here--they all fit the part and are cool to talk to. Shout out Jo, she is always the life of the party and makes great shots too. Even the security here is great (and always keeps things safe), it's just overall a really awesome vibe and I wouldn't pass it up if you're in the area. read more
